Forget the kids for a start, they're not ready.

.....

With a 4-3-3 I'd use Hume, Hayles and Campbell because pace up front would be paramount and, with a 3-4-3 I'd use Hume/Howard/Campbell with Bell and Beswick in wide midfield.

Is that really Thracian saying that

It was... but he did slip a cheeky Beswick in at the end there. :P

Hume/Howard or Hume/Fryatt. Leaning slightly towards the latter. It'd be on the understanding that Fryatt isn't going to score but does open the game up for us when he's playing.

I honestly think Hume'd be on 20 goals if he'd started most of out games up front. With the amount we're creating compared to last season when he got 14, someone who can put stuff away should thrive.

If Hume starts in midfield next game I'll be disgusted.

It's quite sad though isn't it that we have wasted our best centre forward. He's got 9 goals this season, and I'm pretty confident had he started every game as a striker he'd have gotten at least 15. Nothing less. And we wouldn't be in this mess right now.

He saved our arses last season - And I hope he does it again.

Fryatt and Hume would be my choice, but i think it will be Howard and Hume.

If not Hume and Fryatt, then Hume and DJ or if Hayles isn't in midfield/wing then Hume and Hayles. Play the ball to feet, forget the long ball, we don't need a target man up front!!!!!

I felt abit sorry for Howard today tho, as he seemed to be getting the blame for everything, and the boos were alittle unfair (he didn't play that well but neither did many of the players), i suppose Clemence isn't there to get the stick so someone has to. However i wouldn't play Howard against Barnsley, but i have a feeling Ollie may play 5 at the back or N'Gotty between the midfield and defence and Howard up front on his own, but i hope he doesn't as we have to set a team out to win the game, as we need all 3 points

I can see the midfield and forward line being something along the lines of -

Weso - Oakley - Hendrie

Hume ------------- Hayles

---------Howard

I dont rate Matty Fryatt at all but... i would go with Fryatt and Hume

Hume seems to like playing with him and atleast Fryatt will get about the pitch which is more that Steve Howard did today.

The thing that we need is pace. Hume and Fryatt with a winger. Would not be against starting with the 11 that finished the match.

No we need players that stick the ball in the back of the net.

Fryatt's confidence is rock bottom. I wouldn't start him unless all the others were injured.

That's true, you could tell his confidence was rock bottom today when he had a great chance and didn't score, and yeah you could say he shouldn't play, but i feel when he scores (and i believe he will if he gets his chance up front with Hume for a whole game as they link up well) he will get his confidence back. I think he is worth the chance as if he plays up front with Hume, Fryatt can create and Hume can put them away!

I would've said the same last year when Joe Mattock found his way in the squad, and he really impressed me in the last few games.

I'm not suggesting we put the future of the club on the line by employing a youngster up front from the start. I'd just like to see one on the bench to put some pressure on our strikers, because at the minute all 5 (Hume, Fryatt, Howard, Hayles, DJ) seem to get game time all the time, be it in attack or midfield. It'd be nice to know that their places aren't cast in stone.

Two strikers that at least look like they are interested, I'd go with Hume and Hayles.

Campbell or Fryatt on the bench, not on the wing.

Howard doesn't make the 16, just looking at him out there makes me sick.

Thing is though Howard is far more likely to bury a chance than DJ and Fryatt are.

But I agree with you, he can't hold his own when things aren't going our way.

Once again he let us down. The kindest thing would be to rest him till the end of the season.

I agree, he's easily the best finisher but how many chances does he have? I count nil today, he just couldn't be arsed to move about, just walks around like his idol Alan Shearer, occasionally throwing his arms up in the air. Oh and the way he tried to look as if he was being fouled when going up half heartedly for headers..

Why have you singled out Fryatt ? and no i dont rate him.

Howard was woeful today.

Hume and Dj/Fryatt for me.

I know Fryatt can't finish but when he plays he opens things up. I think Hume is our best striker so should play in his favored position, up front.

I don't know what's gone on with Fryatt but the lad hasn't got any confidence at all.
