Kilworthfox Posted 20 April 2008 Posted 20 April 2008 not at all if we draw with wednesday they will be still be 2 points behind us and then all that needs to happen is they beat norwich on the last day and we lose to stoke and were gone. Not the case as Southampton cov Norwich and Barnsley would all be below us right now if we have 1 more point, due to our goal differance! I think it is risky to say that 52 is enough but 53 is enough IMO, 54 is certainly enough

That depends on what Norwich do against QPR next week. If they lose and we draw against Sheff Weds then we'll all be on the same points, meaning we'll need at least a draw against Stoke, or, hoping for anything but a draw between Norwich and Sheff Weds. That said, I don't fancy going to Stoke on the last day needing to pick up points or hoping for other results to go out way... we need to win next week and put the whole mess behind us.

If Norwich lose to Qpr and we draw with sheff Weds then we're safe. If we draw with sheff Weds and Norwich lose to QPR We'd have LCFC -1 & 52 Pts Norwich -10+ & 52 Pts Sheff Weds -6 & 50 Pts Norwich then play Sheff Weds last game Even if we lose to Stoke If they draw - SW would have only 51 points If Norwich win SW would have only 50 points If SW win Norwich would have -10+ & 52 Pts

Nail on the headYesterday was awesome, best atmosphere iv been to in a long time, but my butterfly’s are far from gone. Unlike some people seem to think if hull and stoke win next week then stoke will still need to win the final game to get promoted due to hull’s superior goal difference. So they need to win to get promoted we need to win to survive… The only other positive is that I can see Southampton getting 0 / 6 but this is the championship and we all know how reliable results are! Just looking at the picks from the game, after the whistle celebrations from the bench say it all COME ON LEICESTER!

tbf Posted 20 April 2008 Posted 20 April 2008 Anyone else think Clapham was a joke at the back? Got us out of a spot a couple of times but on the whole he was terrible, slow to chase the ball, general lack of awareness, slow to react. For me Hume was man of the match. Nothing to do with the goal, but his desire and passion is something every footballer should aspire to. Chased everything down, good in the air as usual, but despite his enthusiasm he was well controlled, he knew when the ball was lost and to step back and not give away the foul by making a rash challenge. There is something wrong if Hume isn't in the starting XI every week in my book. In goal Henderson doesn't fill me with confidence, he's comptent but i don't think he has the presence of a top class goal keeper, having said that a clean sheet is a clean sheet.
Koke Posted 20 April 2008 Posted 20 April 2008 Yeah, every time they attacked down our left side I got worried. Clapham is a liability. Half the time he receives the ball he doesn't know what to do with it, and then he just hoofs it 50 yards down the channel for Hume or Bell to chase it. Mattock next week please.

yorksfox Posted 20 April 2008 Posted 20 April 2008 Agree that Clapham was very dodgy, particularly in the first half - can't imagine Mattock (or Shush!??) being so hesitant and lacking in confidence. Our delivery at corners and free kicks was generally poor (Shush!??). Still 3 points next week and it won't matter!
Benjani Posted 20 April 2008 Posted 20 April 2008 What a game that was. Wasn't the best of games i've been to, mainly because it was so far away! And had to go to leicester on the way to get the tickets, so was quite tireing. Atmosphere was amazing, even where i was sat far right was still alright. We were lucky to win, but so what. loved it and recognised a few people off here around the place from pics ive seen Saw good old jobber at the back with shirt off and sun glasses on. Great game and stood all the way through it which was good, surprised the stewards didn't do anything.
Simi Posted 20 April 2008 Posted 20 April 2008 Saw good old jobber at the back with shirt off and sun glasses on. They weren't sunglasses. They were swimming goggles.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 20 April 2008 Posted 20 April 2008 A bit lost for words really. Everything I could have wished for and more.
BigGibbo Posted 20 April 2008 Posted 20 April 2008 ILLUTRATES!!!Thats the word DavieG!! That illustrates what i was emphasising! re-iterates!

Our delivery at corners and free kicks was generally poor (Shush!??). Still 3 points next week and it won't matter! I thought Clapham was fine. Defensively he was solid, didn't slide in and made it difficult for his opponent to get past him. He also did well when facing those diagonal balls over the top, for which Mattock has been caught out woefully on a number of occasions this season. Granted, his distribution wasn't great, but apart from Stearman perhaps, the rest of the back 4 hardly could hardly string a pass together.
Rich Fox Posted 20 April 2008 Posted 20 April 2008 A Barnsley view if you want it. The first half was truly appalling. No football or skill was shown by either side other than Martin Devaney's rocket that hit the post. Second half was much improved footballing wise and we hit the post again. Then Leicester scored with what I think was their only chance of the game and Barnsley ran out of ideas and didnt really look like scoring after that other than a clear cut penalty when one of your defenders dragged Odejayi back in the box with both hands pulling on his shirt. If you went to the game that was why the home fans started to sing the referee's a w@nker. Two truly appalling displays yesterday but 3 points at this time of the season is all that matters. Hope this doesnt sound like sour grapes, its my honest oppinion. I thought that the ref was terrible. Missing the penalty and then two minutes later brian howard palms the ball on and he points to his chest and says play on. Poor Odejayi kept being mugged and the ref gave the decisions against us. Anyway, onwards and upwards. I dont know whether to wish you look at home to wednesday. This league is such a mess I dont know who we need to win anymore. I just hope that after a week's rest we can get a result against Charlton. so i wont wish leicester luck but I will wish your fans luck in coping with the stress of this relegation battle. Hope we both meet in the championship next year. ps I reckon their were 4000 - 4500 Leicester fans there yesterday. The stand holds 6000 and it was not nearly full Your support is absolutely wank you have the nerve to say we didnt take 6000 to your northern wasteland but the whole attendance was only 14000 !!! you should be in league 1

We didn't take 6000 but to have 4000 odd of a total of 14000 is a pretty damn good effort on our part.
dandannieldanok Posted 20 April 2008 Posted 20 April 2008 Did anyone notice the broken glass on top of the turnstile walls Isn't that illegal now
Raj Posted 21 April 2008 Posted 21 April 2008 Did anyone notice the broken glass on top of the turnstile walls Isn't that illegal now Yeah. Thats what its like Up North like! Tough!!!
Manwell Pablo Posted 21 April 2008 Posted 21 April 2008 Massive result and I think it will probable be just enough to keep us up and keep Holloway his job until next season. Lucky him. Their can't be any excuses next season, we need to be cermented in the top half at least.
