Alexikokopops Posted 27 September 2009 Posted 27 September 2009 My brother managed to spot the guy with the camera, so he was able to pose with a big grin and with his arms out. I was obviously less prepared I did teh Coventry half marathon a couple of years ago and managed to pose when I noticed my mate with his camera Anyway, I just did a 7 miler at 8 minute miles. Lovely stuff
General Smuts Posted 27 September 2009 Posted 27 September 2009 Well done mate. There's one particular hill around 8 miles that ruined me last year. Heart attack hill? Yeah cheers for the heads up! I banged a pose in on the home straight:
Monk Posted 28 September 2009 Posted 28 September 2009 Well done Karl, you did well to even attempt it after the rest of us dropped out. Your time is still a respectable one, good stuff.
Monk Posted 28 September 2009 Posted 28 September 2009 Whoevers idea it was to run the Windsor course is a fucking cunt. That would be James. I should definately have lubed up though! My inner thighs look like i've been attacked with a rake. LMAO
Raj Posted 28 September 2009 Posted 28 September 2009 Whoevers idea it was to run the Windsor course is a fucking cunt. Why does it have to have more ups and dows that Peter and Jordans marriage? More hills than the Peak District? And did it need to be Saharan temperatures as well?fook me im in pain now. Struggled round in 2hours 45mins which im more than happy with considering the lack of preperation i had, the fact that i couldn't eat before the race as i was being sick and my complete lack of training plus the above reasons. I should definately have lubed up though! My inner thighs look like i've been attacked with a rake. Thank god its over. Bath time! Next time you do it train for it you lazy bastard!!!
Bluefoxtim Posted 28 September 2009 Posted 28 September 2009 My Kibworth half went well yesterday. Bloody difficult course, very hilly and the weather didn't help! Came 32nd with a time of 1 hour 38 minutes.
Raj Posted 29 September 2009 Posted 29 September 2009 My Kibworth half went well yesterday.Bloody difficult course, very hilly and the weather didn't help! Came 32nd with a time of 1 hour 38 minutes. Brilliant time
General Smuts Posted 29 September 2009 Posted 29 September 2009 Cheers for putting my shambles of an effort to shame Tim! Congrats mate, that's a massive time.
Bellend Sebastian Posted 29 September 2009 Posted 29 September 2009 My Kibworth half went well yesterday.Bloody difficult course, very hilly and the weather didn't help! Came 32nd with a time of 1 hour 38 minutes. That's great, really well done. How many entrants were there, out of interest? (not that it will detract from your performance if there were only 32 )
Bluefoxtim Posted 30 September 2009 Posted 30 September 2009 That's great, really well done. How many entrants were there, out of interest? (not that it will detract from your performance if there were only 32 ) 250-odd I think.
Raj Posted 2 October 2009 Posted 2 October 2009 250-odd I think. You doing the Leicester half? Or am i the only twat participating???
Bluefoxtim Posted 2 October 2009 Posted 2 October 2009 You doing the Leicester half?Or am i the only twat participating??? I certainly am! Leading from the front on the Kibworth run - number 181! I've reached the dizzy heights of the Harborough Mail http://www.harboroughmail.co.uk/sport/A-Gr...-for.5692150.jp
Bluefoxtim Posted 10 October 2009 Posted 10 October 2009 You doing the Leicester half?Or am i the only twat participating??? Good luck tomorrow I played football on Thursday night - not the most intelligent decision though as my thighs are aching a bit <_< hopefully I'll be fine after half a mile.
Bluefoxtim Posted 11 October 2009 Posted 11 October 2009 Do I legally own this thread now? 3 posts without reply Anyway, got back a while ago - got a new best time of 1 hour 32 A really good route and had a bit of luck with the rain, only started once I'd just finished. GNR: 1 hour 42 Kibworth: 1 hour 38 Leicester: 1 hour 32 No other races lined up sadly - my next big milestone is getting under 1 hour 30. I managed another good sprint finish today, even after the slog up New Walk. Well done to the guy in the sunflower costume
Cobbo Posted 11 October 2009 Posted 11 October 2009 My brother did 1 hour 20 mins 11 secs for the Leicester half. He was happy with that.
Raj Posted 12 October 2009 Posted 12 October 2009 My brother did 1 hour 20 mins 11 secs for the Leicester half. He was happy with that. Bloody hel!!! I did 1hr 53 mins!!! Thats fine by me!!!
Bellend Sebastian Posted 12 October 2009 Posted 12 October 2009 Well done Raj! It's probably not a good time for me to point out that someone in the over 70 category did it in 1:20:18 That's inspired me to take a few more years off

Dr The Singh Posted 12 October 2009 Posted 12 October 2009 Started jogging again after 3 months out, still have the same niggling injuries though, with the groin and my butt muscle!!!
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 13 October 2009 Posted 13 October 2009 My body is fooked from years of AFL and when ever I go for a run the next day my groins ache for a week. So decided to walk regularly breaks at work, 30 minutes when I get home. Then I decided to give up the grog for a few months and only drink water nothing else. So far I've dropped 50lbs and the more people keep noticing the more it has sort of inspired me to keep off the grog and keep eating better. Currently 18 days with no grog and only water and I feel great very good body cleanse.
Bellend Sebastian Posted 13 October 2009 Posted 13 October 2009 The Leicester half/full marathon results have now been updated with chip times so you can see how you really did. http://www.leicestermarathon.org.uk/ Well done everybody. Particularly that old geezer, I still can't get my head round that

Particularly that old geezer, I still can't get my head round that My brother has been lecturing me how good runners should always start at the front so that they don't finish behind people, despite having a better chip time... He came 21st in the half.
Stuliasz Posted 13 October 2009 Posted 13 October 2009 Having played squash twice in the last week and getting my backside kicked all over the court due to fitness, I have decided I want to take up running - that and the fact I signed up for the end of season run in case it happens. Anyway, can anyone recommend any good locations anywhere between Coalville and Leicester that I can visit regularly to do a jog on the way home from work and don't say the A50! I was thinking Bradgate Park but I had a feeling you had to pay to park there these days.
Bellend Sebastian Posted 13 October 2009 Posted 13 October 2009 Thornton Reservoir? I went there not that long ago and I don't remember paying to park, but whether I was parking where I was supposed to is another matter entirely
Raj Posted 14 October 2009 Posted 14 October 2009 My brother has been lecturing me how good runners should always start at the front so that they don't finish behind people, despite having a better chip time...He came 21st in the half. Cobley's time is elite, considering the winner was 1.15. I'd do if 1.20 if i took the bus!! next year im going for under 1.45 then i can retire in peace!!
