Highlighted players yet to gain a cap . Stephen Warnock been in good form , unsure about Huddlestone as plenty of competition for central midfield places

How Michael Carrick doesnt make that squad is ridiculous! He's mixed it with the best this year Jenas/Barry/Huddlestone are not up to his level.
Ashley Posted 12 May 2008 Posted 12 May 2008 This is the team for the USA game I take it? Tickets still on sale for any one interested.
SamL Posted 12 May 2008 Posted 12 May 2008 It's good to see Huddlestone and Hart in with a shout. Not so sure about Jagielka or Warnock.
Uncle Albert Posted 12 May 2008 Posted 12 May 2008 I cant believe Carrick has been left out again. This will surely be cut down to a 23 man squad.
Joe. Posted 12 May 2008 Posted 12 May 2008 Well to be fair Carrick's always played awful for England. And why do we need him when we have Gerrard, Lampard, Barry and Hargreaves who can all play that position? It's no major loss really.
MikeyT Posted 12 May 2008 Posted 12 May 2008 Where's Carrick and Lescott???? On the flipside, i'm glad Dean Ashton is in there and Agbonlohor!
Manwell Pablo Posted 12 May 2008 Posted 12 May 2008 Fabio Finally someone besides me recognises that Micheal Carrick is a bag of knackers. What a great squad, not hard to see why we failed to to reach 2008 really.
lildave3 Posted 12 May 2008 Posted 12 May 2008 I imagine most of those uncapped players will get cut out. Especially Warnock.
purpleronnie Posted 12 May 2008 Posted 12 May 2008 Happy Ashton made it, I know he's slow but I would like to see what he can do for England.

It's no major loss really. But if you were picking the England team on how they played for england previously then I don't think we could get 11 players. Carrick has been brilliant and in some very big matches against top european players. I think he deserved a go, especially compared to some others he's picked.
Sods Posted 12 May 2008 Posted 12 May 2008 I need to go to a England game again. Need a decent one away however.
Corky Posted 12 May 2008 Posted 12 May 2008 I need to go to a England game again. Need a decent one away however. I've only been to one England match, a Euro 2000 qualifier at Wembley against Sweden. Completely boring 0-0 draw. Fantastic
SteveJacko Posted 12 May 2008 Posted 12 May 2008 Happy Ashton made it, I know he's slow but I would like to see what he can do for England. He's hardly slow, stick him alongside Agbonlahor, somebody with bags of pace, and the combo should go superbly. Ashton is the last of a dying breed of real old fashioned English centre forwards ie Shearer etc. I can see him bagging one or two against the yanks if given the chance, he's been on top form for West Ham recently.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 12 May 2008 Posted 12 May 2008 I hope Kirkland starts. 10 clean sheets for Wigan since the turn of the year merits a place in the first XI for me, and James is injured isn't he? I also think that Hart should be kept in the Under - 21s to further his development. The lack of Heskey also dissapoints me, and I'm not sure that Jags, Huddlestone or Jenas have been in the best of form recently.

In a mediorce Wigan side, he's done wonders. I see no reason why he should't be given a shot at the keeping posistion. Going to be a reality check at Wembley when USA come and show us up big time by the way, in terms of atmosphere.
