Paul Lambert Talk & Rumours

Wikipedia isn't accurate. The win rates for his time at Wycombe are inaccurate.

Wikipedia inaccurate? - you're mad

On further investigation it seems that Win Rate for Wycombe was 41% and Win Rate for Livingstone was 16%

Felt a huge sense of relief that MM has seen sense and got rid of Holloway. From a position of not wanting to renew our 3 season tickets to an instant urge to dash down there has started to return. With the various talk of 'who should be the next manager' and the coincidental departure of Paul Lambert from Wycombe and the inevitable links etc, I thought I'd have a look in the usual places as I'd only vaguely heard of him as a Celtic player and that was it.

Wikipedia has the usual background including his successful time in German football as well as Celtic. At the end it stated 'moved to Leicester City on 24th of May 2008! Wow, that was a quick appointment I thought, but couldn't find it anywhere else. A while later it had disappeared!

A look on the Wycombe Wanderers site revealed a tribute to him from the club etc. When read in this context, he appears to have done very well with what he had at his disposal, they even quoted him as the 'most successful manager since Martin O'Neil!

We are still I believe a reasonably attractive proposition i.e. decent ground, good fan base, bit of money available, some great young talent to work with alongside a selected few decent players if we can keep them. We have to be realistic re the next choice as manager and questions marks hang over some of the suggestions given. Lambert doesn't look bad to me, someone with good club experience as a player at home and abroad and a decent start as a manager. Not a big charismatic name like Ince I know, but someone who appears to be able to get on with the job competently with a good solid football background behind him nevertheless.

Worth a go???? :scarf::scarf::scarf:

God i hope not, did nothing in 2 years woith Wycombe!!

Better off with Ollie than Lambert!

Why him over Grayson or Newell?

Oh goody, we can start a season full of optimism with a youngish manager who has done reasonably well in the lower divisions but is unproven at a bigger club...

...hold on, haven't we been here before?

That ended well though didn't it?

Has anyone got any Youtube clips of Lambert?

I think we need to carry on the trend of basing our decision's on players and managers from well made youtube clips.

Better - Celtic won the SPL and there are lots of pictures of him in a Celtic top. It couldn't be clearer that he is the man for the job.

Didn't we have a rather successful manager, who had managed Wycombe before he came to us........

I know your joking but your clutching...Remember last year when Martin Allen was appointed everyone said "Look what happened under the last manager we had called Martin" - That worked out didn't it.

I was joking. Maybe its about time, that we don't compare everything with MON and his reign here actually.

has to be paul ince, rescues macclesfield and got mk promoted in his first season.

...is in a growing club with a Chairman who is stable, loves & supports him and has his eyes set on managing at the top level.

I really wish people would shut up about Ince. He is NEVER coming to City.

There has been reports linking that Paul Lambert is favourite for the hot seat but my question is why??? What has he ever done only play good football if you lok at it he did nothing at wycombe so what chances has he got of taking us back up as i say more like down to league two then down again to blue square premier!!!!

Paul Lambert's managerial career

Team From To Games Won Lost Drawn

Wycombe 30-06-2006 Present 108 44 35 29

Livingston 01-06-2005 12-02-2006 32 5 20 7

So 40% win ratio at Wycombe which is pretty good (anything in the 40's), 67.5% not lost ratio is ok too (good above 70%)

Not a good time at Livingston though
