Paul Lambert Talk & Rumours

Hello people,

Just got in off my night shift thought I would let you all know, My team leader goes out with Edward Moe (Grounds Keeper at the walkers) and she's informed me that he has seen Paul Lambert and his assistant at the walkers earlier this week!

I'm not saying he is going to be our new manager, but this is a very credible source, so I thought I would share the love!

Personally not to sure about the guy.....Don't know a lot about what he did at Wycombe and Livingstone :/

We shall wait and see though, as I said, I'm not saying he is the new manager just that he has been seen at the walkers :) But I wouldn't be surprised to wake up this afternoon and see he is our manager :)

We have a Grounds Keeper called Ed Moe???

If your team leader is a Dutch lady with the surname de grass, she should have a double barrelled name if she marries him.

Edward Moe = Ed Moe = Groundsman = Head Mow -do I detect a bit of mischievous gossiping :P

There is one saving grace, in my opinion. He's a man with a bit of steel about him. Kelly was weak, Holloway whimsical, Allen downright insane. But Lambert is a strong character and I do feel that is the right character for our club.

We thought that about Levein, mind you Lambart at least should have some perception of League football by now and therefore shouldn't under estimate it like Levein did - The cause of his downfall.

One of the bosses at my work is a Wycombe fan and says he is a shocking manager. He's followed them home and away this season. Glad to have got rid of him due to his defensive style of play.

Bit of a Megson

F O O K

N O  No more defensive managers, please.

Attack, attack, attack attack attack

Wiki

After studying for football coaching qualifications in 2005, Lambert landed his first managerial job with Livingston on 1 June 2005. Lambert studied for his UEFA coaching credentials in Germany, one of very few non-Germans to have been given dispensation to do so. Although he had not intended to play for his new club Lambert registered as a player in late August 2005 to cover for any injury shortages. His tenure ended the following February when he resigned after only winning two league games since starting the job.

So he only won 2 games for Livingston. Everybody seems to want him on the strength of a good cup run and getting Wycombe to the play offs.

I could have guessed that, had a look at Wycombes goals for last night and it was a major turn off for me, in League 2 and with an Argentian midfielder. Any manager that can't get his team scoring on average at least 1.5 a game can fook right off now, we need change. Although 1 a game would be an improvement on last season.

15% win rate at Livingston doesn't bode well either.

An Argentinian midfielder... signed from Basingstoke Town. Torres is a good player mind, a very good passer of the ball, but not really some sort of superstar player who should be able to take them up on his own.

As for Lamberts style, its patient buildup with runs down the channels, more than Megsonesque out-and-out defensiveness. When I saw them they did have a few spells of possesion where they didn't really penetrate much but they looked pretty good at times and did get forward. He wouldn't be my first choice but as a plan B I wouldn't have a problem with him here.

Felt a huge sense of relief that MM has seen sense and got rid of Holloway. From a position of not wanting to renew our 3 season tickets to an instant urge to dash down there has started to return. With the various talk of 'who should be the next manager' and the coincidental departure of Paul Lambert from Wycombe and the inevitable links etc, I thought I'd have a look in the usual places as I'd only vaguely heard of him as a Celtic player and that was it.

Wikipedia has the usual background including his successful time in German football as well as Celtic. At the end it stated 'moved to Leicester City on 24th of May 2008! Wow, that was a quick appointment I thought, but couldn't find it anywhere else. A while later it had disappeared!

A look on the Wycombe Wanderers site revealed a tribute to him from the club etc. When read in this context, he appears to have done very well with what he had at his disposal, they even quoted him as the 'most successful manager since Martin O'Neil!

We are still I believe a reasonably attractive proposition i.e. decent ground, good fan base, bit of money available, some great young talent to work with alongside a selected few decent players if we can keep them. We have to be realistic re the next choice as manager and questions marks hang over some of the suggestions given. Lambert doesn't look bad to me, someone with good club experience as a player at home and abroad and a decent start as a manager. Not a big charismatic name like Ince I know, but someone who appears to be able to get on with the job competently with a good solid football background behind him nevertheless.

Paul Lambert arrived in Emmerdale in September 2004.

He is the son of Diane Blackstock’s flighty sister Val Lambert, though is more like his sharp-witted aunt than his deceitful mother. His childhood was difficult, often needing to take care of his mother. Paul's sexuality only caused a rift between the two when he had an affair with one of her numerous boyfriends. This tension lasted for five years, until he arrived in Emmerdale.

During Diane's wedding service, his mother suddenly revealed that his former uncle, Rodney Blackstock, was Paul’s biological father; to the shock of both men. Over the next few months, Paul and Rodney were uncomfortable with his other, despite his half-sister Nicola Blackstock’s attempts to get them to be friends. In the end it was the break-up of Paul’s relationship with his lover of nine years, Enzo, that forged a bond between the two and are now firm friends.

Paul forged another unlikely relationship with meek post mistress Emily Kirk. When her marriage to vet Paddy Kirk ended to his affair with her boss and friend Viv Windsor, Paul helped to comfort her.

Paul also caught the eye of local binman Ivan Jones, neither of them being able to control their feelings. Both men struggled with the relationship as Ivan wanted to keep it a secret as no one in Emmerdale knew yet that he was bisexual. They both found happiness after some ups and downs, until Nicola, bored and frustrated in her own relationship with binman Simon Meredith, formed a crush on Ivan and tried to seduce him. When she found out that he was seeing Paul, Nicola became obsessed with stealing Ivan.

After he’d rejected her a few times, a drunk Nicola wore lingerie and tried again, unsuccessfully. To her delight Lesley Meredith witnessed the attempt and got the wrong idea, telling everyone that Ivan and Nicola had been having an affair. Paul’s faith was shaken and ended their relationship. When Ivan asked for another chance, Paul turned him down.

Single again, Paul moved back in with his father Rodney and forged a bond with Kelly Windsor, who was dating his father. Both were delighted when Rodney bought Holdgate Farm for them to transform into a spa, but were disappointed when the Spa was rejected by the Council. Instead of fighting the council, Rodney turned his attention to buying Louise Appleton's half of the Woolpack, to the disapproval of Kelly and Paul.

Before Christmas, 2006, Paul rescued bisexual neighbour Grayson Sinclair from a vicious beating and following the situation, Grayson's wife Perdita Hyde-Sinclair grew suspicious of them, assuming Paul was having an affair with her husband. However after a discussion, Paul and Perdita developed a close friendship and due to Perdita's ever present paranoia, she unwittingly "played match-maker" between her new employee Jonny Foster and Paul, who are now in a relationship. After being together for nearly 6 months Jonny moved into Victoria Cottage with Paul, Emily Kirk, and Paul's father Rodney Blackstock.

AftHowever, Perdy had become the victim of Rosemary's distaste, and was given Malaria tablets. They reacted with her depression tablets, and together with Rosemary's meddling, made Perdy look mentally ill, causing her to be sectioned. When she refused to see her husband, Paul acted as a go between and tried to get Perdy and Grayson together again. This meant that Paul spent a lot of time with Grayson, and has now started to fall for him.

At an expensive Jewellery party at Home Farm (which Paul helped to organise), Jonny was told by Chastity Dingle that Paul needed commitment, and on a moment of sponteneity bought an eternity ring and asked Paul to marry him. Paul was unsure whether to accept Jonny's proposal or not, seeing as his feelings for Grayson were growing and he had only been with Jonny for a short while. After realising that Kelly had overheard, she told him that Jonny was a good man who loved him and Paul realised that it would be stupid of him to decline.

As Jonny went about arranging their wedding, Paul ended up having a one night stand with Grayson, but was devastated when Grayson said it meant nothing to him. Paul confessed to Jonny about his sordid betrayal and Jonny decided to leave the village. However before he went, Paul declared his love for him and he decided to stay and work on their relationship. Jonny warned Grayson to keep away from them or he would tell Perdy about the fling.

On March 3rd 2008, Paul and Jonny got married, though not in the way they originally planned. Furious that his parents were still arguing over petty little details for the ceremony, Paul, Jonny, Emily and Jonny's friend Barry went to the registry office in Hotten, where Paul and Jonny tied the knot without their families present. However, upon returning to Home Farm (where the service was originally meant to be held) neither of them could bring themselves to tell their parents they were already married, and so went through the entire ceremony again to please them.

After Perdy's marriage to Grayson disintegrated, she eventually moved in with Jonny and Paul. They stuck by Perdy as she fought for rights to the unborn child Grayson and Katie Sugden planned to raise. On March 24 2008, after a confrontation with her in the Woolpack, Grayson told her that he'd slept with Paul. Paul didn't deny the claim, and Perdy lunged at Grayson. Perdy was then taken into custody. Paul demanded to know why Grayson had told her, but Grayson gave no response.

We can definitely do better.

I don't believe we can for one minute, I'm resigned to it. Great player, great level of experience - knows what a boss should do on the pitch and may (hopefully) get us one.
