teblin Posted 21 May 2008 Posted 21 May 2008 PAUL LAMBERT is being lined up to replace Ian Holloway as boss of Leicester after resigning as Wycombe manager yesterday. The Sun Paul Lambert is being lined up as the new Leicester manager after resigning as Wycombe boss on Tuesday. (Various) link
tyneside fox Posted 21 May 2008 Posted 21 May 2008 Seems like de ja vu to me MM signed MA after he got MKDons to the league 2 playoffs and now he is doing the same with Lambert IMO Larry Grayson or Darren Ferguson would be my choice.
teblin Posted 21 May 2008 Author Posted 21 May 2008 Maybe Lambert is the only one that wants the job?
lcfcrinaldi Posted 21 May 2008 Posted 21 May 2008 the poison chalice thats leicester city football club, realy, just keep holloway, the reason we keep having terrible seasons is because its constantly change around leicester no one can settle!
Ric Flair Posted 21 May 2008 Posted 21 May 2008 Fairly keen. He's been at big clubs, I hope he has that elusive knack of knowing how to turn a club in turmoil around that has big expectations.
Phlashman Posted 21 May 2008 Posted 21 May 2008 Bizarre choice if true, ditch a guy who knows how to get out of league one for someone who's never been promoted.
Asha Posted 21 May 2008 Posted 21 May 2008 Would rather keep Holloway than take Lambert. But if Ince 'became available' he'd be my first choice.
MikeyT Posted 21 May 2008 Posted 21 May 2008 If we did end up with him, i bet we'll end up with a load of Scottish players here again!
Ric Flair Posted 21 May 2008 Posted 21 May 2008 If we did end up with him, i bet we'll end up with a load of Scottish players here again! Have Wycombe got many since he's been there? We may end up with Sergio Torres though.
The Stig Posted 21 May 2008 Posted 21 May 2008 I don't really know enough about the guy to make a judgement. However, I can say one thing. I wouldn't touch this job with a barge pole.
The People's Hero Posted 21 May 2008 Posted 21 May 2008 I'm not sure I could be less enthused or more aroused. Publish that, Mercury, if you're looking for a quote. QUOTARAMA!
Shrenchel Posted 21 May 2008 Posted 21 May 2008 Some real fantasists on here, we aint gunna do a lot better. Those that want Ollie gone have to accept this is about the quality of replacement we can attract. We're a League One side with a chairman that's notoriously hard to work with and a bunch of fooking lazy players that couldn't give a shit about the club. I'd be happy with Lambert.

To be fair though, Mike Newell is a realistic choice and he has a proven track record for what we require. Attractive football, promotion out of this division. But there are obvious question marks over his personality and how that would clash with Mandaric. Lambert may be worth a punt, i'm not opposed to him but is this 'up and coming manager' what we need? I have absolutely no idea who would succeed here and who wouldn't.
teblin Posted 21 May 2008 Author Posted 21 May 2008 Well... he's played under the best  I'm guessing you are refeing too MON but also played under Ottmar Hitzfeld.
Jon the Hat Posted 21 May 2008 Posted 21 May 2008 You can't ask much more from a playing career, key player in a Champions league winning side, Scottish league titles coming out of his ears, played under some exceptional managers. For me, I would be happy if he brought some discipline. And you can't go past a Glaswegian for that. He won't accept the crap we have seen for the last few years.
lavrentis Posted 21 May 2008 Posted 21 May 2008 I would actually like him to come here. He might even bring Oakes back.

davieG Posted 21 May 2008 Posted 21 May 2008 Well at least he's had the chance of working in English football, albeit at a lower level so should be able to avoid the mistake Levein made of under-estimating the standard/style compared to most Scottish football.
Stevosevic Posted 21 May 2008 Posted 21 May 2008 I would take him, he's been relatively succesful at Wycombe, would want the job i imagine and is likely to have some good contacts in the game.
act smiley Posted 21 May 2008 Posted 21 May 2008 He actually did far worse than Levein in Scotland, but has done a very good job with Wycombe. I've seen them play a couple of times this season and in general they've actually played a pretty good style of football. I'd still prefer Grayson, but there's far worse out there.

Livingstone were an absolute shambles at the time, a bit like ourselves, so that may indicate he's not got what it takes to re-vitalise a club in turmoil?
morris1234 Posted 21 May 2008 Posted 21 May 2008 didnt he take them to the semi's of the carling cup aswell??
