demon_dog Posted 24 May 2008 Posted 24 May 2008 OK. I'll hold my hands up and say blame me for Ollie's departure. I was in the ticket office yesterday to renew my season ticket, was talking to someone alongside me, stated that I nearly did not renew my ticket since Ollie was still manager. MM must have overheard me and promptly wielded the axe!! Goodbye Ollie, goodluck, sorry but you had to go, we'll send you a coaching manual for next season also a manual on how to motivate people and get the best out of them!!

Thracian Posted 24 May 2008 Posted 24 May 2008 Nice to know that you all still hold Barber dear to you hearts. haha I've actually been at Radio Leicester for over 12 years, so not a newbie i'm afraid. Barbers replacement is still TBC. We'll make sure that he or she is a Leicester fan though. All the best. I wonder if he'll be allowed an honest opinion too and be able to properly analyse games and criticise constructively when things go wrong. And finally if he'll let the callers put their points across instead of forever smothering or deflecting anything that starts to sound like serious criticism.
Thracian Posted 24 May 2008 Posted 24 May 2008 a piece of me died while i read that, i hope you heard it off football rumours © Me too. If MM is sincere about getting it right this time he should steer another course and the fans have given him quite enough decent prompts already so there's no excuse for getting it wrong again.
Matt Posted 24 May 2008 Posted 24 May 2008 There still bitter ain't they... http://www.rivals.net/news/pgarticle.aspx?...05249&id=62 OlygoneBy GT - 24/05/2008 00:51 As has been widely reported in the press, Ian Holloway is no longer manager of Leicester City, but does he love them? Ian Holloway is unsurprisingly no longer manager of Leicester City. The Foxes announced last night that the ex-Argyle boss had left the Crisp Bowl by mutual consent although the level of mutuality can be speculated upon. Holloway was the club's sixth manager in the past twelve months. Who is going to be mad enough to try their luck next? Paul Lambert, who left the mighty Wycombe Wanderers this week, appears to be the one to have eaten too many mushrooms. The Foxes Chairman said of Holloways departure "We both felt it would be in the best interests of Leicester City and its long-term future if we amicably parted company. This has been a very difficult decision for all parties but, we have agreed that the time is now right," "I would like to place on record my thanks for the way in which Ian has worked tirelessly over the last seven months to try to bring success to this club." Mandardic continued. "I could not fault either his commitment or effort to the cause but the last few weeks have been the most disappointing during my tenure within the game. "My energies will now be fully focused on getting the right man, firstly to stop the decline we have suffered in the last few years, and secondly, to take us forward in the future with that level of stability which we all crave." Holloway managed to issue some toady words to the long suffering fans of the league one club saying "Leicester City is a marvellous club and I am as devastated as anybody that this great club suffered relegation. I gave 100% to the cause but unfortunately we ran out of time. "The fans here are a different class and deserve a lot, lot better. "I'd like to wish everyone connected with Leicester City well for the future - the club will always remain close to my heart." Holloway did not say however whether he now had blue blood and that he loved Leicester because, perhaps, he still has green blood and continues to truly love Plymouth. Or does he? Leicester fans will be relieved to see the back of their worst manager in history. As one of them said of Holloway on Rivals "We can laugh now he's gone." As far as Argyle fans are concerned, the majority view will be a sense of justice following the way that Holloway left Home Park mid-season. There was certainly a sense of great pleasure in seeing Leicester relegated, but the one regret is that the Green Army will not now have the opportunity to "welcome" him back as the manager of the Foxes. Still, someone may employ him again and should he visit HP then he will get the welcome Argyle fans believe he deserves. The Green Army will not forget.
Monk Posted 24 May 2008 Posted 24 May 2008 Can't say I expected a decision so soon. I've said on here before I wanted to keep Holloway for stability reasons, though I'm sure there won't be too many sad to see him gone. He was far too media happy and was shown up as tactically inept on numerous occasions. I just pray to god we can get a good manager in for the long term. Grayson please!

Paul Lambert, who left the mighty Wycombe Wanderers this week, appears to be the one to have eaten too many mushrooms. Dunno, that bit seems on the money to me. Drug addicts, lunatics and serial rapists are the only ones that would sensibly consider coming here now.
davieG Posted 24 May 2008 Posted 24 May 2008 Dunno, that bit seems on the money to me.Drug addicts, lunatics and serial rapists are the only ones that would sensibly consider coming here now. I'm none of them and I'd do it for a few weeks and a bank account full of compensation dosh
Zingari Posted 24 May 2008 Posted 24 May 2008 Dunno, that bit seems on the money to me.Drug addicts, lunatics and serial rapists are the only ones that would sensibly consider coming here now. i hate it when people shamelessly tout themselves for a job
The Stig Posted 24 May 2008 Posted 24 May 2008 I don't know whether or not I'll be happy with the decsision until I've seen who replaces him. Thanks for your efforts Ollie.
Daggers Posted 24 May 2008 Posted 24 May 2008 I'm none of them and I'd do it for a few weeks and a bank account full of compensation dosh You're over-qualified mate - I strongly suspect you have a clue.
davieG Posted 24 May 2008 Posted 24 May 2008 You're over-qualified mate - I strongly suspect you have a clue. I'll just have to settle on paying for a ST now that Holloway's gone.
Babylon Posted 24 May 2008 Posted 24 May 2008 Me too. If MM is sincere about getting it right this time he should steer another course and the fans have given him quite enough decent prompts already so there's no excuse for getting it wrong again. Like when everyone said they didn't want Warnock and he listened to the fans... that worked out well!! The fans who got Adams the boot and hated megson because he was ginger. I'd not even listen to the fans.
Babylon Posted 24 May 2008 Posted 24 May 2008 Twice now he's been caned. The wider world of sport thinks he's an idiot. Official. That was my opinion before he even joined us... anyone who kept an eye on the goings on a portsmouth would have known that!!!
Thracian Posted 24 May 2008 Posted 24 May 2008 Like when everyone said they didn't want Warnock and he listened to the fans... that worked out well!! The fans who got Adams the boot and hated megson because he was ginger. I'd not even listen to the fans. They were right about Adams - I've never known anyone contrive to lose so many winning positions as he did through lack of faith. And his record since has only re-emphasised his limitations. They were right about Megson too. The bloke didn't even want to be here. As for Warnock who knows how he'd have fared at Leicester? His record generally is impressive enough but he hardly endeared himself to City fans with his comments so you can hardly blame them for saying no thanks. If you'd not listen to the fans but would get everything right anyway, why would you need to? The stages are beckoning... Keep winning and I'm sure the fans won't mind one bit whether you listen to them or not.
LeeCovFox Posted 24 May 2008 Posted 24 May 2008 Can we just have a manager who will encourage the players to keep the ball on the ground and move forward please? A few crosses into the box would be nice too. Thanks Milan.
lildave3 Posted 24 May 2008 Posted 24 May 2008 Damn. When I renew my season ticket it will now look like i've bought it because Holloway has gone. <_<
lifted*fox Posted 24 May 2008 Posted 24 May 2008 be interesting to see who he gets in now. i was never really in the 'get rid of Holloway' crowd. he made some awful decisions though. *sighs*
AoWW Posted 24 May 2008 Posted 24 May 2008 Make sure its a she with a sexy voice that knows her stuff.Shouldn't be hard Me, me!!!! Oh, hmmm.... will 1 out of 3 do?
Joe. Posted 24 May 2008 Posted 24 May 2008 Me, me!!!! Oh, hmmm.... will 1 out of 3 do? Well that's just being generous.
AoWW Posted 24 May 2008 Posted 24 May 2008 Well that's just being generous. You used to be such a nice young man.
knowitall Posted 24 May 2008 Posted 24 May 2008 Like when everyone said they didn't want Warnock and he listened to the fans... that worked out well!! The fans who got Adams the boot and hated megson because he was ginger. I'd not even listen to the fans. I have since spoke to Neil Warnock when he came to Walkers with Palace. He said to me that he was in talks about becoming Leicester manager (before Allen) when MM said "I have a couple of players already lined up for you" At this point Neil no longer wanted the job. Now this is Neil's veiw of what took place. So I dont know if it is 100% true.
