Trav Le Bleu Posted 7 June 2008 Posted 7 June 2008 Why is it so crap? I mean, really crap, like a steaming pile of blue whale dung festering in the Marianas Trench. When you consider all the money they have from commercials, you would think they could afford some decent commentators, set, graphics and post-game analysts. Andy Townsend? Expert Analyst? David Pleat? Commentator? Now I know why I pay my license fee!
Katy Posted 7 June 2008 Posted 7 June 2008 I agree, although tonight seemed better than it normally does. I really hate Clive Tyldesley as a commentator, he winds me up something cronic.
Fox You Forest Posted 7 June 2008 Posted 7 June 2008 Martin O'Neill to Andy Townsend One extreme to the other.
Durnerz Posted 7 June 2008 Posted 7 June 2008 Matt Smith annoys me the most, would love nothing better than to smack him one in his smug, sarcastic face.
Sods Posted 7 June 2008 Posted 7 June 2008 David Pleat is a joke. According to him earlier Ronaldo's shot that hit the post was out of reach and the keeper didn't have a chance in reaching it. This was during the slow motion replays in which it was so fooking obvious the keeper put it on to the post.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 7 June 2008 Posted 7 June 2008 David Pleat is a joke. According to him earlier Ronaldo's shot that hit the post was out of reach and the keeper didn't have a chance in reaching it. This was during the slow motion replays in which it was so fooking obvious the keeper put it on to the post. I laughed out loud at that, it was classic. Another good one was Tyldesley saying Altintop was offside a split second before they showed Tuncay trotting away. The whole setup is a shambles.
Joe. Posted 7 June 2008 Posted 7 June 2008 It's absolutely bolllocks. I used to like Clive Tyldesley but I've gone off him a lot recently. It seems he doesn't really know what he's talking about at times- this obviously isn't helped when he's got that clown Pleat sitting next to him. Why that man is still employed to comentate on football matches by ITV I really don't know. And then Andy Townsend? Gary Neville? What's all that about?
The Stig Posted 7 June 2008 Posted 7 June 2008 Tyldesley is brilliant. Pleat woeful Smith and Rider good Townsend could do better, hardly an expert.
act smiley Posted 7 June 2008 Posted 7 June 2008 Tyldesley is a cock of the highest order. While Pleat's sheer incompetence can at least be laughed at, Tyldesley's sycophantic warblings are utterly infuriating.
Manwell Pablo Posted 7 June 2008 Posted 7 June 2008 They just seem to bang on endlessy about one person over and over and over again, tonight it was Ronaldo, Ronaldo this, Ronaldo that, I think they even said something along the lines of "after the break our analysis on Ronaldo" it's just a joke. Whenever it's F1 it's Hamilton this Hamilton that arrrghghhghghghghghghghghgh!
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 7 June 2008 Posted 7 June 2008 I laughed out loud at that, it was classic.Another good one was Tyldesley saying Altintop was offside a split second before they showed Tuncay trotting away. The whole setup is a shambles. Tyldesley was Barber-esque today. Kept getting Nihat muddled up with Tuncay ( ), called Hamit Altintop's brother Hakin (it's Halil), and was just generally all over the shop without ever rectifying his mistakes.
Uncle Albert Posted 7 June 2008 Posted 7 June 2008 Except from Pleat I actually like ITV. Best for the Champs League and tonight's coverage was pretty good.
act smiley Posted 8 June 2008 Posted 8 June 2008 They just seem to bang on endlessy about one person over and over and over again, tonight it was Ronaldo, Ronaldo this, Ronaldo that, I think they even said something along the lines of "after the break our analysis on Ronaldo" it's just a joke.Whenever it's F1 it's Hamilton this Hamilton that arrrghghhghghghghghghghghgh! Indeed. It reached some of its most absurd levels when interviewing Kazim-Richards post-match, over half the interview was "do you know anything about ronaldo?". It was some of the most ridiculous coverage of an event I've seen.
CKB Posted 8 June 2008 Posted 8 June 2008 I mainly mute it if i have to watch sport coverage on the ITV!
Bryn Posted 8 June 2008 Posted 8 June 2008 ITV in general is a fooking ****stain, putting a movie on then sticking the news right in the middle of it? Who's fooking idea was that?
morris1234 Posted 8 June 2008 Posted 8 June 2008 i hate anything on tv, they drain the life out of every type of programme, especially x factor etc etc etc etc they have these boring game shows and theres breaks every 3 fookin seconds!
Lovejoy Posted 8 June 2008 Posted 8 June 2008 Matt Smith annoys me the most, would love nothing better than to smack him one in his smug, sarcastic face.
Les-TA-Jon Posted 8 June 2008 Posted 8 June 2008 Yes it is incredibly bad. Nope to half time analysis. Also the championship goals program on a sunday morning is possibly the worst piece of crap on tv. Really. The production value is SOOOO low. They pitifully squeeze 30+ matches into an hour long slot with ad-breaks. Unless the game you want to watch is the featured one right at the start, there's no point. For almost every match, shot, foul or incident there is only one replay. Blink and you'll miss it. It's really dire. Plus (and i know the cameras are limited by the height of certain stadiums, especially in the lower leagues) the camera always seems really tight on the action. Really zoomed in. You don't get to see the pattern of the games, where players are running to etc. Even at the Walkers where the camera could be far back enough it's still all zoomed in enough for us to see the individual beads of sweat on Hayles' forehead. ITV = sh*t MOTD isn't on next year is it? The premier league may as well not be happening as far as I'm concerned.
Webbo Posted 8 June 2008 Posted 8 June 2008 i hate anything on tv, they drain the life out of every type of programme, especially x factor etc etc etc etc they have these boring game shows and theres breaks every 3 fookin seconds! It's only a matter of time until ITV introduce 'celebrity football punditry' with Ant & Dec discussing Portugal's performance with Fern Britten and Jordan.
Phube Posted 8 June 2008 Posted 8 June 2008 And why the hell is it not available in HD on Sky?? NO-ONE has Free-Sat!!
coale39 Posted 8 June 2008 Posted 8 June 2008 Yeah free sat is too expensive at the min. To pay a hundred quid premium for just two hd channels?
The Stig Posted 8 June 2008 Posted 8 June 2008 MOTD isn't on next year is it? The premier league may as well not be happening as far as I'm concerned. It is. Premier League Highlights. BBC, Sky, Setanta Championship / Lower Leagues - ITV (For one more year, then the BBC) Live FA Cup. ITV, Setanta Live England games, ITV, Setanta Champions League, Sky, ITV Uefa Cup, Five, ITV, Setanta (Final exclusive to Five)
Guest seanfox778 Posted 8 June 2008 Posted 8 June 2008 ITV is truly awful, but i can't stand John Motson either, Sky should have the Euro's as they have the best pundits and commentators
Corky Posted 8 June 2008 Posted 8 June 2008 ITV's Sports coverage is awful, getting Andy Townsend is a joke, and Gary Neville!? WTF!? BBC is much better, MO'N is quality, as is Hansen, and Sir Gary knows what he is talking about. Get rid of Pleat, and tone down Tyldesley, then it might be a bit better.
