Peterborough away

I think its more to do with the numbers these three clubs take to away games rather than the nature of the fans.......well maybe not in the case of the other two but certainly in our case they are worried we will double the population of the fens (but they will still have more fingers)

Haha, lumped with Millwall and Leeds. We're real ruffians now.

I agree we must be real scally wags! (seriously why are we all tarred with the same brush?,I've been supporting city for years home and away and many a time I've been to the pub and got a bit merry before the game but I've never been involved in any aggro or got in trouble with the law!)

And potatoes and tractors and uncles/cousins/brothers/dads who are all the same person!

Absolutely ridiculous.

What an over reaction from the police.

Hooliganism  Those days are surely behind us.

& to have three games by Peterborough moved, this says something about the Posh.

It's your firm, Alex - it's all your firm.

If you corner me I might become a scallywag!

I think you will find that I hold all of the potatoes!

Lets smash the town up afterwards. That will show them. YEAH!

Who wants to be in my Filbert Street Elite mob then?

We'll all bowl it down to the ground with our SI jackets and aquascutum caps whilst mouthing at the locals.

I personally think this has more to do with the size of the away following we could easily take to Peterborough than trouble we might cause. I would imagine the 3 teams would probably have the biggest away support at Cambridge compared to the likes of Hereford and co who will probably only take a few hundred

Davie, Whilst I'd echo your sentiments, this has nothing to do with 'hooliganism' really.

Its a ploy to stop fans from drinking and becoming "Rowdy". All it means is that everyones gonna head to the offy and get wankered earlier, meaning more losses for pubs. In some cases they have even stopped the pubs from opening early to accomadate the early kick off.

Free world right?

Really? lol

The only real trouble last season was at Coventry, other than that there wasn't really any.

Hooliganism? I thought those times were gone?

The game should be on Sky which is handy for those who can't make the game but I think it's a complete over reaction by the Police.

Norwhich and Sheff Wed home games there was trouble and Sheff Yanited away.

Good idea I think.

SI? Sports Illustrated?

Was at Pboro in 94 ish when City fans set fire to the terraces!!!

Think that might of pissed them off a bit

That game was on the telly wasn't it? I seem to remember police horses and all sorts separating the two sets of fans in the end. A few weeks later we went down to Millwall, ended up with 9v10 and 'disgracing' the Midlands again.

There were quite a few arrests after the Norwich home game (a handful of old men in baseball caps threw bricks at each other in Carts Lane) and also Cov away. We've got a lot of mouthy teenagers but we're hardly Ultras. The reaction doesn't surprise me, this is the town that fines you £75 for dropping litter FFS.

Millwall have one of the worst away followings in the league.

Really? lol

in my case anyway :yesyes:

Conpletly disagree with just about everything you put there.

At Norwich it was a load of chavs that had nothing to do with the football (Seeing as they left 20 mins before). Not old men.

And I'd rather have Ultras than a load of mouthy teenagers, most people are just some un-educated about what Ultras actually are, spoon fed by the British media.

And £75 pound fines for littering seems fair enough to me as well. :dunno:

PETERBOROUGH United's hotly-anticipated home games against Leeds, Leicester and Millwall next season will have their kick-off times brought forward to help prevent hooliganism in the city.

Within hours of the League One fixture list being announced Cambridgeshire police requested the new kick-off time, with officers meeting Posh director Barry Fry to thrash out a plan to prevent off-field trouble on matchdays.

The two sides agreed to bring forward the games against Leeds United on October 4, Millwall on Boxing Day and Leicester City on March 28, next year, to noon, from their scheduled kick-off times of 3pm.

Posh director of football Barry Fry said: "The kick-off times have been brought forward on the advice of the police.

"We have to work together, and we're happy to go along with that because we want to protect the city of Peterborough.

"Leeds, Leicester and Millwall fans have a reputation, and we want to give them less time in the pubs before kick-off."

Police said the three clubs had a record of disorder and their fans were "less than well behaved" last season.

Chief Inspector Nick Knight said: "Bringing the kick-off forward will reduce the amount of time fans are in the city, and will reduce the amount of drinking time they will have prior to a match.

"The idea is for them to go straight to the ground when they arrive, enjoy a game of football and go home, instead of heading for the city centre, causing trouble and stretching police resources."

All three clubs are expected to bring thousands of supporters to London Road for their matches against Posh, and at least 100 officers are likely to be called up to police the ground and the city centre.

Nice to be singled out with Leeds and Millwall

:crylaugh:

Reputation?

Yeah, 'cos the last time we played them was in the '80's (probably) and we had a reputation then :dunno:

Farcical.

Just means we'll get treated like shit for the day as well as it will be considered high priority.

The £75 is fair enough, just harsher than everyone else was my point.

I know about Ultras and how not everything they are involved in involes knives & kicking seven shades out of the opposition fans. I was just saying that there's nothing like that level of organisation with our 'firms'.

but surely you have a slightly uneducated view or is it a selected view as well while you seem to hang onto the theory that they are all about supporting the team yet seem to neglect the fact that many of them area politically motivated with the most extreme example being by teams like Lazio who display and support extreme fascist attitudes. or St Petersburg ultras who refuse to allow the club to sign black players, any many Ultras from Eastern Europe and the Croatia, Serbia etc who preach, support and take part in hate and xenophobia.

Taken from: http://www.cbc.ca/sports/columns/analysis/...aro_050415.html

In 1999, S.S. Lazio played city rivals AS Roma, a team widely supported by Rome's significant Jewish population. Lazio's ultras took anti-Semitism to sickening heights when they unfurled a 50-metre banner around their section of Rome's Olympic Stadium that read: 'Auschwitz is your town, the ovens are your houses.'

In May 2001, Inter Milan ultras stole a motor scooter, set it on fire and hurled it onto the field from the second level of Milan's Giuseppe Meazza Stadium.

Last September, AS Roma's home game against Ukrainian side Dynamo Kiev in the Champions League was halted when referee Anders Frisk was bloodied after being hit by a metal object thrown from the stands.

This past weekend, 17 fans were arrested and 259 later identified and charged with throwing objects onto the field, committing acts of violence in the stands, chanting fascist slogans and waving neo-Nazi banners following games in Rome, Palermo, Udine, Cava dei Tirreni and Perugia.

What brilliant support!!

Nobody is perfect and Ultras are certainly not the wonderful example of supporters you seem to suggest they are, infact at many clubs they are the exact opposite.

infact according to Wiki the renowned font of all Knowledge in Spanish Ultra comes from ultraderechista which translates as far right extremist.

What a joke, as I will be coming from Norwich on the train there will probably be engineering works. We do not have bad fans, most are friendly.

Doesn't Cambridgeshire have the smallest police force in England though?

Absolute Joke.

I thought we were treated badly at Sheff united/Barnsley but this will be something else.

I just find it funny how the games around 9 months away and they've already changed it. Havn't the police got anything better to do with their time?

That'll be good for all of our short supporters then.
