West Ham Want Mattock

Mattock is staying put, he knows that as soon as Wilfred Bouma is back there is no first team action for him, whereas at the walkers he'll be winning every weekend

The problem is that The Reverend is right, Mattock is currently vastly over-rated (at the moment) and we will leak goals with players getting behind him, I'm still hoping for a proper left-back before Saturday.

According to SSN Villa have had a bid accepted for Shorey and he is having a medical today.

Not only Shorey. They've had £5million bid accepted for Luke Young.

Oh ye sorry i saw that. 5 million for Luke Young i didnt think he was that good although that goal v Spurs was pretty special.

I wouldnt shed a tear if Mattock went. I think he is vastly over-rated. He could be a great player in the future, but i feel people are putting him in the team on potential, not on how good he currently is.

At least I'm not the only one still struggling to see what everyone else does.

They're back;

From Sky

West Ham are keeping tabs on highly-rated Leicester City defender Joe Mattock, skysports.com understands.

Mattock is regarded as one the most promising young players in England and he is the second youngest player to represent England Under 21s.

The left-back made his debut for Leicester at the tender age of 16 and he has been earning rave reviews at the Walkers Stadium.

The 18-year-old is regaded as one of the best young talents outside the Premier League and Leicester are widely believed to have fieled a number of enquires from clubs for Mattock.

West Ham have held a long-term interest in Mattock and new Hammers boss Gianfranco Zola is monitoring his progress.

The likes of Liverpool, Aston Villa, Everton and Sunderland have been credited with an interest in Mattock, but West Ham are hoping to steal a march on their rivals with doubts continuing to surround the future of on-loan defender Herita Ilunga.

Ilunga is on a season long-loan from Toulouse, but the player has suggested he would be interested in a move to a bigger club if an offer came along and Mattock is thought to be on Zola's list of potential signings.

Leicester are keen to keep hold of their prize asset as they look to win promotion from League One, but they could face a battle to ward off suitors when the transfer window reopens next month.

Unless new buyers have agreed a deal with West Ham Mattock will not be going there.

Get rid as early in Jan as possible, and hope the cash we get is enough to buy Mark Davies outright.

I'd like that, but chances are with a young player the deal will consist majorly of add-ons, as opposed to a nice lump sum.

Read the article carefully and you will see that the article doesn't actually claim anything new has happened.

It's just a re-hash of old news to cover up for the fact that nothing is really happening.

Probably the same article as the one in the summer, just replace Alan Curbishley with Gianfranco Zola and add the bit about Ilunga to give it a tad of creditability.

Mattock is the cover!

I'd rather have Powell or Berner playing LB tbh.

Whichever one is playing, the other is cover :)

So Mattock is not the only cover ;)
