Maybes Posted 30 July 2008 Posted 30 July 2008 Michael Vaughan is like the Steve Howard of test cricket. Ntini = Effan Ekoku
Milky Posted 30 July 2008 Posted 30 July 2008 Mini-collapse going to continue now do we reckon? Don't think so. It's actually been very comfortable out there until the freak Strauss dismissal.
SamL Posted 30 July 2008 Posted 30 July 2008 We must surely be considering Vaughans place in the team. Yes he's a good captain, but he's not scoring the runs he needs to. I think Cook is playing well again but we're in need of a big innings from Pietersen.

Simi Posted 30 July 2008 Posted 30 July 2008 WTF!! some strange wickets today Think that might have been drifting down the leg side, but definitely out on the catch. No chance of that KP century then?
Milky Posted 30 July 2008 Posted 30 July 2008 You were saying? it's a freak show!! Think that might have been drifting down the leg side, but definitely out on the catch. No chance of that KP century then? Did i say KP? I meant Bell...

billyfox1 Posted 30 July 2008 Posted 30 July 2008 i'm going to guess KP's batting figures.Balls faced 4 Runs 20 4's - 2 6's - 2 caught i knew i was being optimistic
Simi Posted 30 July 2008 Posted 30 July 2008 NOW can we get rid of Vaughan? The sooner Graeme Thropre announces his return to the set-up the better.
purpleronnie Posted 30 July 2008 Posted 30 July 2008 NOW can we get rid of Vaughan? I really hope so because I've been calling for his head for months but felt I was in the twilight zone because no-one else seemed to. He such a dopey batsmen the sooner he goes the better, even if he makes a big score in his next innings means nothing he's failed to deliver time after time.
Milky Posted 30 July 2008 Posted 30 July 2008 Collingwood looked so far out of form it's painful to watch.
Brainy Posted 30 July 2008 Posted 30 July 2008 What did Collingwood do to earn a recall anyway? I give up.
Father Ted Posted 30 July 2008 Posted 30 July 2008 Why isn't Hoggard around the squad??? And Vaughan is useless, how is he still in the England squad, a couple of years ago he was hitting 50's and 100's with ease now he's just, crap!
The People's Hero Posted 30 July 2008 Author Posted 30 July 2008 What did Collingwood do to earn a recall anyway?I give up. They need him to feel part of the series and see how everyone else is playing before the dispose of Vaughan and throw him the Captaincy. As it goes, neither should really be playing for England atm, but of the two, I prefer Vaughan because he genuinely is a good quality batsman and a very good test captain. Collingwood has a very limited amount to offer with bat or ball, looking at what England need at the moment, which is bowlers who can TAKE wickets and batsmen who WON'T give their wickets away. The two of them really need to be playing county cricket atm, but as two of the more experienced members of the 'squad' they are getting the backing to pull through where the likes of Shah, Broad etc aren't fancied (press will massacre the team if we lose the series).

The People's Hero Posted 30 July 2008 Author Posted 30 July 2008 To be fair to Vaughan, some of his dismissals have been questionable to say the least. I can't see a lot wrong with his technique at the moment - just maybe a bit hesitant and half-hearted in his shots. It will come for him.
Sods Posted 30 July 2008 Posted 30 July 2008 Just got in. Collingwoods wicket looked very poor, body shape and shotplay. Why we are playing him? God knows. Another shocking decison which I cant understand. Leave him out fair enough, but whats the freeking point in bringing him back so early.

It will come for him. I think it's just a mental thing, sometimes he chooses the wrong shot to play or doesn't play when he should be. If he doesn't score some runs soon I think his place in the team will be up for debate. Personally, I think Collingwood has been brought back into the side too quick. Cook played well for his 76 but as with Bell, it's a case of our batsmen getting to 50 and then getting out rather than pushing on.
