AoWW Posted 22 July 2008 Share Posted 22 July 2008 I dont know why but I've always found Blur - The Universal quite sad Yeah, I'd agree with that. It almost seems so epic and soaring that (I, at least) feel remarkably small. Earlier in the thread someone mentioned No Distance Left to Run, too, which gets me every time. Yeah I agree, it just has that effect on me, which I can't really describe, just a powerful song I guess. Also I would like to add Brand New - Degausser
Trav Le Bleu Posted 22 July 2008 Author Share Posted 22 July 2008 I have the same thing with Dexys "Come on Eileen". I hope that nobody will be able to listen to it ever again, possibly the worst record of all time, ever. Though it could backfire BIG TIME if everyone just starts dancing in the isles
martyn Posted 22 July 2008 Share Posted 22 July 2008 I also find Libertines - What Became of the Likely Lads to be quite sad. A lament, perhaps. A lament to free-er, more innocent times. I find "Don't look back into the Sun" sad for similar reasons. It hits home how good the Libertines could have been.

Can't Stand Me Now is the saddest, the death of The Libertines right there

Webbo Posted 8 August 2008 Share Posted 8 August 2008 Abide With Me I chose the songs to be played at my dads funeral back in 1990 when i was 10 , he was big football fan and would always sit down infront of the cup final in time for it to be played so i chose it for the funeral. My lifelong wish to this day is to be able to sing it at the F A cup final watching city , although the chances are pretty slim We played it at my dads funeral as well for the same reason. 'On days like these' by Matt Monroe also reminds me of my dad dying but that's a long story.

Jordan Posted 11 August 2008 Share Posted 11 August 2008 Maps - Yeah Yeah YeahsDo You Realize - both The Flaming Lips The Scientiest - Coldplay Well there's three there for me. I'm starting to tremble already... Arcade Fire - Crown of LoveRadiohead - Fake Plastic Trees Radiohead - Street Spirit Radiohead - How to Disappear Completely Radiohead - Exit Music (For a Film) Radiohead - Let Down Radiohead, a good group to put one in a bad mood, but the song that really gets me is "Subterranean Homesick Alien" (partly b/c of the lyrics, especially the last verse ). Sigur Ros - Untitled #3 Anybody that listens to #2 and #3 back to back without thinking of something sad has nerves of steel and is perhaps a heartless murderer or something. Others for me: Poor Places - Wilco Fine to See You - Guided By Voices
