hairy Posted 17 July 2008 Posted 17 July 2008 The Wurzels - I am a cider drinker Very sad song. Did you know they were German? Interesting fact for the day.
MikeyT Posted 17 July 2008 Posted 17 July 2008 Everybody Hurts- REMMad World- Gary Jules Back to Black- Amy Winehouse (I always cry when I hear that) Cant listen to that song without wanting to commit murder! I worked in Zavvi in The Shires when that came out and went to number 1. It was played like, every hour on the hour for blooming ages!
The People's Hero Posted 17 July 2008 Posted 17 July 2008 Blur- No Distance Left to Run. But the original list was a very good one.
The People's Hero Posted 17 July 2008 Posted 17 July 2008 I also find Libertines - What Became of the Likely Lads to be quite sad. A lament, perhaps. A lament to free-er, more innocent times.
Finnegan Posted 17 July 2008 Posted 17 July 2008 Not sure I'd agree with AoWW's World Full of Hate claim, but Forever always chokes me up. Also Flogging Molly's Whistles the Wind.
ASH17LCFC Posted 17 July 2008 Posted 17 July 2008 Noel Gallaghers version of To Be Someone by The Jam. Also This guy in love with you, puts so much heart into it.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 17 July 2008 Author Posted 17 July 2008 Betty Boo - Just doin' the do Agadoo - Black Lace The Wurzels - I am a cider drinkerVery sad song. Did you know they were German? Interesting fact for the day. I respect your knowledgeable views and extensive experience of music, but if you was to come around here, taking the mick out of my thread, spouting facetious song titles, I'd say... OI! Daggers and Hairy! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
James. Posted 17 July 2008 Posted 17 July 2008 Portishead - Roads Ok so I'm not exactly going to surprise anyone with that choice but I honestly can't think of many more beautiful, painful, emotional songs than that.
Jay Posted 17 July 2008 Posted 17 July 2008 Johnny Cash's cover of NIN Hurt Amazing cover version amazingly emotional video pure brilliance

act smiley Posted 17 July 2008 Posted 17 July 2008 Sigur Ros - Untitled #3 Untitled #3 to me is a rather optimistic one. Rather gives me a "down-but-not-out" feeling. I remember listening to it one morning in November/December 2005, snow everywhere and looking out over Cardiff (had a great view back then) as the sun came up and just thinking "chin up." as I hung around in the freezing cold - it really seemed like the time and place for it. Untitled #1 is the track from ( ) that seemed rather sad to me. Cash's Hurt cover and Roads have already been mentioned. Joy Division is obviously a given. The Drugs Don't Work is another pretty obvious choice that I rather like. Kent - Protection & Cowboys are two that I find rather sad and rather good too. The Cure's Plainsong and To Wish Impossible Things are both that kind of sadly reminiscing thing which tend to get to me. Homesick is another sad one by them, but its a song I associate with some rather sad events so I think that's what takes it from rather sad to something that can make me cry.
Anorak Posted 17 July 2008 Posted 17 July 2008 Top 5 off top of my head. Eels - Dead of Winter The Replacements - Here Comes A Regular Scud Mountain Boys - A Ride Matthew Sweet - Nothing Lasts The Pogues - The Old Main Drag
