OriginalRobboFOX Posted 21 July 2008 Posted 21 July 2008 Heard from a friend of his that we'll be seeing a lot more of him this season... Pearson has an offer from Cheltenham to take Chambers on loan for the season and was probably gonna let him go but at half time in the Hinckley game Pearson called everyone together and blasted them for what he called ''the worst half of football'' he'd ever witnessed. He subsequently made a shed load of changes including bringing on Chambers. At the end of the game he called Chambers over and told him he'd gave him a lot to think about and he'll probably not be sending him to Cheltenham now as he hopes to get more from him this season playing for the 1st team....

Good news. And I think he will definitely produce the goods.
Ric Flair Posted 21 July 2008 Posted 21 July 2008 Good. I think with a lot of hard work, Chambers could be quality.
renards Posted 21 July 2008 Posted 21 July 2008 Hope so. Decent footballer and decent down to earth la. Hope pearson has the balls to play him. Would like to see how he'd play along side Howard
Unabomber Posted 21 July 2008 Posted 21 July 2008 Good news, with the right attitude and management he could be a real asset in league one. Look forward to seeing him play more.
Lovejoy Posted 21 July 2008 Posted 21 July 2008 Good, good. Might be hoping for a lot for a youngster, but he has clearly got ability, so maybe he can bag a few next season.
lcfcrinaldi Posted 21 July 2008 Posted 21 July 2008 Ive got a feeling that if we atleast make him a regular sub then we will be laughin come the end of the season

He was going to change the whole team at half time anyway. Chambers was the best player for me against Hinckley, but not sure if he's ready for a first team place yet
Smiffy Posted 21 July 2008 Posted 21 July 2008 He was going to change the whole team at half time anyway. Chambers was the best player for me against Hinckley, but not sure if he's ready for a first team place yet If he was the best player against Hinkley then why wouldn't he be ready for the first team yet. I agree that he shouldn't be thrown in the deep end just yet but you only get experience from playing.
Cheese Me Posted 21 July 2008 Posted 21 July 2008 One of the few consoling factors for me after relegation was I hoped it would give us a chance to build around some of our most promising young players. For me Chambers (along with Weso, Mattock if he stays and Gradel) is right at the top of that list. I'd be very happy to see much less of the likes of Howard and DJ and more of Chambers. He's getting ot the age now where he really should be breaking through if he's going to achieve what we've all hoped he will for the last few years and this should be the season to see it happen.
SamL Posted 21 July 2008 Posted 21 July 2008 That's good to hear, lets hope he gets a good few games. I was very impressed when he came on against Hinckley, keep up the good work Chambo.
Cobbo Posted 21 July 2008 Posted 21 July 2008 He looked to have bulked up a bit and was faster too. Good first team option on the wing or up top I think.

He obviously didn't bother with many of last season's match DVDs then.. There's a few more strikers still at the club he should let go on loan first before Chambo.
iancognito Posted 21 July 2008 Posted 21 July 2008 Would like to see how he'd play along side Howard He'd make him look more static than he already does. There are pillars at Stonehenge moving faster than him. There's no point loaning players out to other clubs in this or lower leagues. If they aren't good enough to be playing for us at this standard then they aren't good enough full stop. This is the main division that we send our kids out to to get experience and they should be getting the chance - at the very least in the JPT - to play for us rather than one of our rivals. That made sense in my head but probably sounds more looney tunes reading it back
Jimmy Posted 22 July 2008 Posted 22 July 2008 regular sub role with a fair few starts thrown in would probably be the best role for him this season, unless of course he make it impossible for us not to play him

I think we would all agree that Howard is hardly mobile, all other forwards have been tried along side him and all made each other look bad. There must be something there with SH, maybe...just maybe AC may bring it out worth a shot.
kingfox Posted 22 July 2008 Posted 22 July 2008 I really like Ashley Chambers. He is a really good player. He will be key for us this season with his pace on the wings and maybe up front, but who is he going to come in for. If wing we have got Gradel, Porter, Dyer, Chambers himself and Adams maybe. Its hard to put him in a postion and chuck another young talent out. I really would like to see Ashley Chambers play the majority of games this season but where his he going to go ?
Ric Flair Posted 22 July 2008 Posted 22 July 2008 Chambers should be employed as a striker. I don't trust Howard, DJ or Fryatt, really. I would like to see Chambers being given a chance, playing him on the wing, limits the chances of him scoring and a few early goals next season could be interesting.

For me, this would be Fryatt, certainly not donkey Howard
chamfinn10 Posted 22 July 2008 Posted 22 July 2008 i agree howard is a donkey let the young guns show the old timers
