davieG Posted 26 July 2008 Posted 26 July 2008 I'm as pessimistic as they come with all things LCFC, even under MON I always expected to lose. But the simple fact is you don't need to spend big to get out of this Division, you need basic ability, 100% commitment, teamwork extraordinaire but above all belief, belief in yourself, belief in your team mates, belief in your manager. If you have all that then there's as a good a chance as any one else of getting promoted. So much is dependent on the Manager being able to create the right environment for all of the above to come together, whether Pearson has the qualities to do that I don't know but he does seem a strong character, with integrity, commitment and a serious approach to achieving success. He seems to have surrounded himself with equally professional people. Every new manager is a risk whether they spend big or not and I really don't see how anyone can judge Pearson's potential to succeed based on what has happened so far.
Candidcamera Posted 26 July 2008 Posted 26 July 2008 This is all about opinions and you have had yours. There is room for us all.
Guest Posted 26 July 2008 Posted 26 July 2008 There is some great stuff in here. Agreed. I had a feck load of Guinness last night and the sheer hilarity of this thread is lessening how harsh the hangover is ASHLCFC17 does not base arguments on such things as facts he thrives on bullshit and bare faced twattery. Best... phrase... ever!

RowlattsFox Posted 26 July 2008 Posted 26 July 2008 What I'm going to say has probably been said in this thread before but I got bored halfway through and skipped to the end. To the people who think are signings have been crap, who should we have signed? What players have teams in this league brought that we should have gone for? What team in this league has a better squad than us? We've not spent much but I'm sure we've still spent more than anybody else in this league, can't think of anyone else who has spent money at all.
eaststandtom Posted 26 July 2008 Posted 26 July 2008 Or just living in the real world hey ? well this season i think its all about hope! we're gonna live like princes do!!!
Filberts lovechild Posted 26 July 2008 Posted 26 July 2008 Don't reall agree with this post, we obviously have money to spend. We signed Tunchev for how much?? Like someone else posted, I don't think we need to spend really. We just need our current crop to gel well and we have the potential to get out of this league at the first time of asking. There's no need to go spending loads!!!
AoWW Posted 26 July 2008 Posted 26 July 2008 Do all the tools only come out at night or something? 'twas funny last night.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 26 July 2008 Posted 26 July 2008 'twas funny last night. And best of all, these threads haven't been deleted!

It has been proven in recent years that you don't need millions to do well. S****horpe, Colchester, Southend are all prime examples of that. EDIT: When I say successful I mean able to get out of this league.
SamL Posted 26 July 2008 Posted 26 July 2008 Spending money doesn't always guarantee success. Look at the money we've spent in the last year, it hasn't exactly been spent wisely has it? I'm not sure we could have got a better quality of players if we'd have spent more.
Father Ted Posted 26 July 2008 Posted 26 July 2008 SAPPLETON IS THE MESSIAH!ALL HAIL BIG RICKY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! All bow down and worship Bruno
Father Ted Posted 26 July 2008 Posted 26 July 2008 Also, Micky Adams barely spent any money and look where it got us! To the Premiership and higher than Levein who blew all his money on Scottish rejects and higher than Allen who blew £2.1 mil on 'Dudley' !
Chrysalis Posted 27 July 2008 Posted 27 July 2008 I am not surprised at all at our transfer fees. estimated 4-6million blackhole budget to fill, so we sold players to fill it. Of course last time I mentioned it I simply got asked 'give me the proof'. Season before milan tookover, FT confirmed the 6-7mill expected annual loss unless players were sold. Milan then injected 2x4.5 million payments into club + some unknown quantities which may have been loans. This year he doesnt have to inject anything and looks like he isnt going to although I expect we have the biggest wage budget in this division.
Guest Posted 27 July 2008 Posted 27 July 2008 You've got to spend money to make money. You are so, so wrong. You must have copied and pasted from somewhere. My mistake. Sorry. Your not pathetic. Your a retard. If you want to insult somebody by implying that their mental faculties are not quite up to standard, it would help if you checked your grammar before hitting the "reply" button.
