Corky Posted 27 July 2008 Posted 27 July 2008 Very good report, gave me a great insight into Pearson. I'm now looking forward to the match on Tuesday even more. It will be my first time watching them this pre-season, and so far I've heard plenty of encouraging things.
C-man Posted 27 July 2008 Posted 27 July 2008 I'm getting tired of congratulating Fez on his top work on this forum, surely a shoe-in for poster of the year. Almost everything about this pre-season has given me optimism for the new season and although our opposition have been far short of class, our attacking play is sounding much more positive and I'm looking forward to seeing how we do against Brum and Palace this week.

If I remember rightly that's what you want to do anyway but seriously posts like this take the piss out of some of the crap from the Mercury. It all sounds very promising, which is all it can sound at this stage. I still haven't entirely shrugged off the cynicism after last season but reading reports like this containing words such as praise, organisation, confidence, commitment, exciting, young and "20 goals" is encouraging and refreshing.

Leicester City new boy Michael Morrison says having an experienced defender as a boss will help him develop his game.Foxes manager Nigel Pearson spent many years playing in the top flight and Morrison is glad to get the chance to learn his trade under him. The 20-year old, who signed from Blue Square Premier side Cambridge United, told BBC Radio Leicester: "It's a positive thing because he can help me. "He knows the mistakes he made so he can help me from making them."

renards Posted 27 July 2008 Posted 27 July 2008 you experience a different game when next to the dug out. I spent 25 or so years standing and then sitting about 4-6ft from Filbert street dug out. Apart from veiwing the game from the same hight as the players and manager, you as Fez said get an insight into the manager-player communication. Always remember Big E Marshall telling MON to feck off..did it ever game, they hated each other. Stuck on row ZZZ now, can't even tell who the players are.

He is definitely a coach in every sense of the word - intelligent comments, proper advice and the right mix of bollocking and encoragement. I was interested in watching how he managed Mattock through that game. Joe was having a bit of a poor game, which Pearson saw and got him through it. I heard "Open up, Joe" a lot during the first half (mind you, Big Nige knows how to get his message across - I imagine most of the ground heard him). Pearson did have a bit of a go at him when he lost his man twice in succession, but was quick to say "good challenge" when he put a tackle in soon after. I also noticed that he wanted to push everything through Max Gradel when he came on and he hugged him and had a few words at the end. I have not really been that close to a Leicester dugout during a game for some time. Would have been interesting to compare Holloway (and others) with that performance, but overall I was impressed. As for the team, I won't read too much into that performance and I'd hope we still have something left in the tank. It wasn't brilliant, defence did look out of shape on occasion but they've never played together and were all youngsters (Morrison the oldest at 20, I think). I reckon Tunchev will get in against MK Dons if only to bring some experience to the defence. Wesolowski was good in the middle, I think he and Oakley will be the starting central pair. Adams looks a good signing, less convinced by Dyer though (touch seemed poor). Fryatt was the pick of the strikers, DJ still made his usual balls-up or three (despite his goal) and Howard failed to put himself about. I still think we need a new first-choice keeper - Hendo is OK as backup but he's not commanding enough for me. Logan has beefed up since I last saw him! After that (and reports on the other games) I reckon we are heading for the following line-up against MK Dons (subject to player transfers in/out between now and then): Henderson Gilbert Tunchev Hobbs Mattock Adams Oakley Wesolowski Dyer Fryatt Campbell Subs: Gradel, Howard, J Chambers, A Chambers + 1

I think this will the starting 11 against MK Dons! The only changes could be if Tunchev isnt match fit and Gradel gets a chance on the left, think he will just miss out to Adams for the right wing spot! Looks like we will have a good bench too!!

But do you not think its a little strange, that the player he wants to make all his attacking moves through won't get a starting position?
