Well done to the team and especially Fryatt - MotM for the first time since...???

There could've been a few goals more, but I'm satisfied for a start.

Why do I always miss the decent matches? Had massive hassle with not one but two banks (bank 1- when'll this cheque clear? friday. Friday: this cheque's not cleared, when'll it clear? Monday... bollocks. off to bank 2... I'd like cash out the savings account. two forms of id then. hand over 2 forms of id. ones got to be a bill ...bollocks. [looks at watch] could still do it... when do you shut? five minutes.). Well pissed off, sounds like we were awesome (unlike the turgid Basingstoke 1 - 1 Hampton & Richmond match I saw for £6 as consolation). :(

Fantastic stuff. :D

It was so refreshing today to see a team try and play football, and show more ideas in one game than in last season put together. We fully deserved the 2-0 win, no doubts about that, and it's a great start.

Matty Fryatt deserves his fair share of praise today for his two goals, simple chances for him, but he was in the right places at the right time and he should be applauded for that. Max Gradel can be an absolute joy to watch, he's just one of those players who makes you get off your seat. He just oozes confidence and I love that about him. He can be a bit hot-headed at times which he showed today on a few occasions but his work down the wing was superb. Also mentions to Tunchev and Morrison at the back, solid as rocks.

Dickov received his god-like welcome back and doesn't look like he's changed a bit since he was last here.

Great stuff boys, lets hope we can keep it up.

Fryatt was like 33/1 to be top scorer this season before today's game. I wish I had put something on it now. Bet it's gone right down already.

Up until we scored we were awesome and camped in their half.

We sat back a bit after that but still controlled the game, 2nd half had me worried shades of yesteryear with a fair amount of hoofing particularly from Henderson and deep defending with Dickov & Fryatt out of sight of our midfield.

They had a good 30 min spell when they controlled the play and had started to look dangerous although they only created a couple of chances. Then Max decided he'd had enough beat their No 2 with some neat and persistent play shaking his hand as he left him standing came back 5 minutes later for a repeat performance entering the box slipped a simple pass to Fryatt to wrap the game up.

Just what the Doctor ordered.

I was hoping we would open with a comfortable win to get the confidence around the place back but with a clean sheet and a striker bagging two for a change its a brilliant start, hopefully we can carry this on. Pearson seems a very focused man and instead of getting over-excited and playing to the media ala Holloway hes already stating the improvements and 'let's not get carried away' mentality along with appropriate praise for the stand-out performers of the day.

Great start to the season, keep it up City.

Well done lads. I can see this season being exactly like the promotion season of 2002-03. Seeing Dickov play again was great, just like old times, brought back old memories.

Our defence is still solid, and looked comfortable. Who needs Gareth thingymajig and Richard whats his face.

Gradel, i love the guy.

Very impressed today.

Glad to see them play football.

We now have two great looking wingers in Max Gradel & Lloyd Dyer.

Oakley looked solid, but wasn't so impressed with Andy King today, thought his touch was awful, much prefer Weso.

Fryatt looked like a different player & I'm glad to see it, hope he can keep it up.

Gilbert is a unit & looks very fast and strong, also, Tunchev looked brilliant, but look knackered when he got brought off.

Don't want to put a sour note on a good day but King, Morrison & ecspecially donkey Howard need to improve their game if they are to keep their place.

Well done City.

Really encouraged. We controlled the majority of the game, and when they did, I can't honestly say that they actually looked like they were gong to score.

I had my doubts about Morrison during pre-season but he stepped up to the plate today, and had a solid game at the back, along with everyone in defence today. Special Mention to Gilbert too. ( He was right about us having a better team than them!)

We need to make Walkers a fortress this season, and we've had the perfect start to that.

Sorry, have to disagree.

Morrison made a couple of good blocks, but apart from that I didnn't see anything that said he deserved to be a first teamer.

Would like Hobbs to start Tuesday night & see how he does.
