Mark Posted 9 August 2008 Posted 9 August 2008 Very promising. Was a bit worrying second half for 15-20 minutes as it looked like we'd run out of ideas, but Max was soon on the case
David Guiza Posted 9 August 2008 Posted 9 August 2008 Very promising. Was a bit worrying second half for 15-20 minutes as it looked like we'd run out of ideas, but Max was soon on the case Howard actually didnt look half bad at times
Simi Posted 9 August 2008 Posted 9 August 2008 Matt Oakley man of the match for me, thought he dominated the midfield very, very well. Gradel showed glimpses of greatness, I love him just needs to work on his final ball I reckon. Fryatt took his chance well and looked sharp, although he needs to learn when to pass still and went to shoot. Couple of times he kept the ball to long. Dickov looked fit but didn't really get a decent chance. I was shocked to see Kingy start but thought he didn't look out his depth at all, certainly something to build on. Dyer moves about very well but his decsion making isn't always the best and his corners are shite. Tunchev looked solid and Morrisom seems to have come along a bit during pre-season. All in all a very good day.
Bluefoxtim Posted 9 August 2008 Posted 9 August 2008 Won £20 on the correct scoreline. Fatty Fry-up - you beauty!
HOLLOW-TIP Posted 9 August 2008 Posted 9 August 2008 Cheers to all Leicester fans! Congratulations on the win! Good to hear Tunchev played well
Joe. Posted 9 August 2008 Posted 9 August 2008 As an aside, I aserved Mike Stringfellow and Paul Ramsay their tickets for today too from the ticket collections van.
Webbo Posted 9 August 2008 Posted 9 August 2008 Mission accomplished, win and a clean sheet, but I can't help feeling we should have won by a more convincing scoreline. For all the possession we had especially in the first half we could/should have been 3 goals up before the break, but for some desperate last minute blocks Fryatt could of had 5/6. Gradel has lots of tricks and can certainly beat his man but all too often his final ball was poor. I'm not complaining but I'd like to see us against a good team (if there is 1 in this division) before I get carried away.
Koke Posted 9 August 2008 Posted 9 August 2008 We played football for once and it was so refreshing to see. We fully deserved the win. Franchise had a spell of 15-20 minutes in the 2nd half where they worried me. But Max stepped up and he's a joy to watch. Our shooting wasn't the best, but that'll improve with some games I hope. Very impressed with Tounchev as well. He looked a tad bit knackered towards the end, but I really like this fella.
Guest seanfox778 Posted 9 August 2008 Posted 9 August 2008 Sorry about being negative but if Fryatt gets a couple more goals in the next few games do you think we'll have a Connolly scenario from 05/06?
Ozwin Posted 9 August 2008 Posted 9 August 2008 I'm not complaining but I'd like to see us against a good team (if there is 1 in this division) before I get carried away. I was thinking earlier, Leeds are the hardest team in this league and the others all got promoted last year. I think MK Dons will be one of the hardest teams we'll face this year tbh. I'm probably wrong though.
Darkzzz_ Posted 9 August 2008 Posted 9 August 2008 Lets enjoy the win but lets not get to carried away. I thought we looked good today, but we still could have put more efforts on goal together. I must give special praise to Tunchev, Gradel and Fryatt, they were class. But all in all I thought the team showed that they want to work for each other and there seems to be a great spirit amongst the lads, which we lacked last season. Very happy and long may it continue. Come on Leicester.
Messi Posted 9 August 2008 Posted 9 August 2008 Morrison had a very good game, Gradel and Fryatt were outstanding
ASH17LCFC Posted 9 August 2008 Posted 9 August 2008 A good solid 2 nil win in your first game of the season is a good start, we went out there with a big point to prove and i think we made easywork of Mk Dons who are a strong team in this league. Pearson got it right which is another good thing. Also i'm happy for Fryatt, alot of people give him stick on here but the lad is a goalscorer and i for one think he will score alot this season. Lets just not get too carried away.
RowlattsFox Posted 9 August 2008 Posted 9 August 2008 Pleased with that. We were outstanding at times, poor at other times but we tried to play our football, especially the first half. Strangely we played more hoof ball once Howard went off, Howard and Fryatt linked up excellently at times. Morrison and Tunchev were solid at the back. Oakley and King were superb first half, not quite so good second half but they did well. Promising start, hope we can build on this.
The Reverend Posted 9 August 2008 Posted 9 August 2008 Up until we scored we were awesome and camped in their half. We sat back a bit after that but still controlled the game, 2nd half had me worried shades of yesteryear with a fair amount of hoofing particularly from Henderson and deep defending with Dickov & Fryatt out of sight of our midfield. They had a good 30 min spell when they controlled the play and had started to look dangerous although they only created a couple of chances. Then Max decided he'd had enough beat their No 2 with some neat and persistent play shaking his hand as he left him standing came back 5 minutes later for a repeat performance entering the box slipped a simple pass to Fryatt to wrap the game up. Perfectly summed up.
TaskFox1 Posted 9 August 2008 Posted 9 August 2008 Nice one lads Thought Tunchev, gradel, Fryatt were quality. Everyone was pretty solid, but we played a little flat at the start of the second halve and last year would have conceded, yet the lads kept the work rate up and killed the game off. Good things to come
Fox You Forest Posted 9 August 2008 Posted 9 August 2008 Utterly fantastic.I love Gradel I literally love him. And The Tunch. Magic. Hands off he's mine. When he done there CB in the corner. Really enjoyed it today, I thought we were pretty comfortable apart from a couple of 10 minute spells when they had some good possession. Other than that thought they were very poor. Gradel, Fryatt and Tunchev were quality. Dont fancy Morrison much though. I'm as happy as a pig in shit.
Ozwin Posted 9 August 2008 Posted 9 August 2008 Morrison can only learn from what sounds like a very good Tunchev. He'll improve immensly this year if he sticks by his side and learns some of the little things he sounds like he does very well.
reynard Posted 9 August 2008 Posted 9 August 2008 It is obviously great to win but I think people are getting a bit carried away. We were the better side but not by that much. If they had a better striker the result could have been different. I was impressed by the way we played as a team and didn't concede needless free kicks. When we played the ball on the floor we looked good and up to the time we scored they didn't get a look in. Then we just seemed to stop playing for much of the next hour. Back was the long ball game. NP was right to say there is much to work on. The area that concerns me the most is central midfield. I didn't feel we were ever in control and despite playing two wingers just how many saves did their keepr have to make? At times the defence looked shakey, especially when the ball was played to feet and also with the ball over the top especially down the so-called channels. Also I suspect we could really use a more mobile target man. However, it is an encouraging start and we looked quicker and fitter than last season and actually looked like a team rather than a group of individuals.
CKB Posted 9 August 2008 Posted 9 August 2008 45 more games to go! Good, solid start tho and i'm happy at least!
lavrentis Posted 9 August 2008 Posted 9 August 2008 Get in there! Who said League 1 isn't easy, why it took Forest 3 years I will never know. Come on! 4th will be our lowest spot of the season. We are going up. P.S loving Gradels determination and nice flag.
Tommy G Posted 9 August 2008 Posted 9 August 2008 Get in there!Who said League 1 isn't easy, why it took Forest 3 years I will never know. Come on! 4th will be our lowest spot of the season. We are going up. P.S loving Gradels determination and nice flag. Careful, I just hope that doesn't come back to haunt you!
colbo68 Posted 9 August 2008 Posted 9 August 2008 Fantastic stuff. It was so refreshing today to see a team try and play football, and show more ideas in one game than in last season put together. We fully deserved the 2-0 win, no doubts about that, and it's a great start. Matty Fryatt deserves his fair share of praise today for his two goals, simple chances for him, but he was in the right places at the right time and he should be applauded for that. Max Gradel can be an absolute joy to watch, he's just one of those players who makes you get off your seat. He just oozes confidence and I love that about him. He can be a bit hot-headed at times which he showed today on a few occasions but his work down the wing was superb. Also mentions to Tunchev and Morrison at the back, solid as rocks. Dickov received his god-like welcome back and doesn't look like he's changed a bit since he was last here. Great stuff boys, lets hope we can keep it up. mmmmm i thought we played well first half but ran out of puff in the second - I genuinely thought MK to be the better side in the second half - I agree with you about Max - he is really up for the fight so far - I also liked seeing Dickov come on , especially for Howard who again flattered to decieve - the defence looked solid but we could have easily have lost today to a better side who could finish their chances - the jury will be out for the next few games.....
