Not really. The white supremacist movement is a reality and it's highly likely this man committed an act of terror based on that overarching ideological theme.

Paramilitary groups in Ireland were called terrorists. I don't think it's got anything to do with being white or Christian.

 

Have a feeling it's politically-motivated; he's from Bosnia apparently and the two countries haven't had strong relations with each other in the past.

 

Bosnia and Austria? Are we going back to 1860? I'd guess religion at first but probably just a nutter being a nutter.

You are right. Acts of terrorism are independent of skin colour. The fact that many people and many elements of the media seem to miss this and try to downplay ideological influence (the "lone wolf" argument) when certain demographics commit these acts of terror the point I've been trying to make all along.

It doesn't seem to be, as they've apparently found a website under the name lastrhodesian .com (not sure if it's still running) that's full of photos of him and has a 2000 word manifesto on African-Americans as well as parts on Jews and Hispanics as well. It also makes clear reference to the KKK and skinheads which indeed have an overarching ideology and presents a much more prominent social problem in the U.S. than minority Islamic terrorist cells.

The racial divide in the U.S, whether it be economic, social or simply a mental situation, has became prominent again in recent years and as seen in Ferguson, Baltimore and now Charleston, it can manifest itself in many forms.

True. I wasn't really replying to your post, just wading into the argument without reading most of the posts. I've just heard a lot this week that 'the papers aren't calling him a terrorist because he's white', which is nonsense obviously.

You'd be surprised at the amount of talking heads in the media that are trying to push that he isn't while supplying their own BS justifications for it, but yes broadly speaking the mainstream reports all seem pretty on the level.

Aside from whether he is a 'terrorist' out not, you have the NRA blaming the Church Pastor who was killed for voting against allowing guns in Churches. And I believe someone from fox said the killing want racist, but against all of Christianity. Idiot.

Many Black's feel aggrieved about the manner of his arrest. I saw one push back showing the DC sniper who was black, and arrested in the same fashion. One of my wife's family members was saying that it wasn't the same. But it was a weak argument.

It's a messy situation, and one I don't think the media know how to handle.

Its not exactly difficult to find that video, number 1 on a google search, I've watched it admittedly, don't fully understand the idea that they seem to want to out-do the previous way of murdering their prisoners. Drowned, blown up in a car then decapitated with a bomb around the neck. Like some fvcked up gameshow.

I refrained myself from watching the video, why didn't you (or probably most of internet users in the UK)?

 

Watching it would give me nightmares, didn't sleep for a few days after watching that Jordanian pilot being burnt alive in full.

Morbid curiosity I guess. ISIS are scum but I think its important to see what these people are capable of, their ideology, their beliefs. It seems the only ones up for a real fight against these are the Kurdish YPG. I expect there will many more of these videos over the months to come.

I know that there's a Briton over there, John Cantlie, who apparently has been forcibly reporting for Islamic State for months (but hostage for around 3 years).

 

I fear the worst for him, despite no recent appeal from him (which I presume is because IS don't want him to).

And I suppose I can understand the morbid curiosity in seeing these beheading/burnt videos etc but it just doesn't sit well with me. I watched half a beheading video like 10 years ago and can honestly say that never had an urge to watch anything remotely close to it ever since. Just watched Cabin Fever and the bit where the woman is shaving her legs and starts taking chunks out makes me squirm, and I know that isn't even real.

That scene scares the shit out of me. Reminds me of the time when i was about 8 and tried to shave my leg without using shaving cream because I thought the hairs weren't supposed to be there lol. Blood everywhere
