Made my day, what a wonderful woman.

The Falklands is still British and Communism is still dead, she must sleep so easy at night knowing the joy she brought to so many.

Foreign policy - spot on. Domestic policy...left just a little bit to be desired IMO.

Incidentally, as a microism of society on this site I still find it really amazing how people can view the same person (who did the same actions) in such different ways.

I guess some people are just as polarising as Marmite. And that's something of a tribute to the variation of humanity in general. It'd be a fvcking boring world if we were all the same.

Yes the last 20 years would have been much better if the Unions had continued to grow in power.Thatcher clearly had the polarising effect you mention, she got lucky with some things (Falklands) and is human like the rest of us, but she at least had the foresight to realiseo our economy was screwed if we didn't bite the bullet and wrestle power back from the unions.

Why does Thatcher get credit for the Falklands? Her government left the islands undefended, had the Argentines stuck to their original plan we would never have won that war. Credit should go solely to the armed forces personnel involved.

He was still moaning about Thatcher when he was on This Week aa few months back, was brilliant seeing representatives of all three parties telling him to come out of 1980 and grow up.

I'm not a fan of Mrs T but "the most hated?". Spenser Perceval got shot, Disraeli was not universally admired, Chamberlain was a bit of a wash out,and there were very mixed views about the Duke of Wellington This has been studied and Attlee and I think Asquith were thought to be amongst the best.

She also won 3 elections, just think what she'd have achieved if she'd been liked.

I take it you were not one of the many millions who repeatedly voted her in then ? How was she the most hated Prime minister ? if so why did she have more than one term.

Complete pleb. His worst crime is giving the Daily Star it's sensationalist headline today.

I'm no fan of Cam, but that was just so ignorant as to be unbelievable.

Love how you have to dismiss the past even though what she did still marks the nation, and btw he's very much out of 1980 and you would only have to read recent interviews to know that.

He's as dated as Ben Elton ,no one takes their one dimensional thinking seriously any more we have moved on.

Margaret Thatcher isn't universally hated.

She is by some, but by others she's regarded as one of the best PM's we'll ever have.

I'm too young to have an opinion, but my parents tell me she was brilliant.

I guess it depends (like everything) on how it affected you personally, if your a minor you will hate her, if you were a banker you may love her....I guess you could make a pro and con list but the working classes were hit hard, poll tax, Sold off the Utility Companies to Private owners, Sold off all the council houses so that working class families can't get decent housing, Destroyed the Trade Unions, etc.... That's not to say she didn't do good things too.....just not that many.

Good post. I often hear on TV and radio people spouting absolute bile about Thatcher when it is clear they were either not even born when she was Prime Minister or too young to know what was going on. It's part of the sheep like acceptance to follow what ever the present day celebrities political leanings are. In other words to fit in and be right on you have to parrot the nonsensicalness of the left. History says otherwise , she was duly elected and re- elected millions of people voted time and again for her something the left ignore or refuse to admit . Even when she stopped the miners Blackmailing the country people still re elected her, they are simple facts that cannot be ignored.

She took their milk away and single handedly reduced the calcium levels in a generation of children.

Hence known as Thatcher the milk snatcher

That's nearly as bad as it gets.

Ok so she single handily brought back rickets but apart from that ?
