dandannieldanok Posted 13 September 2008 Posted 13 September 2008 That performance was reminiscent of the darker days under Levein. Why on earth did we play hoofball after having so much success with playing it on the floor already this season. The defenders bar Powell were woeful, Kisnorbo can't come back soon enough. The midfield was non-existent and the boy wonder Gradel was found out, again! The strikers had little service, but I wouldn't have fancied Fryatt to score today even if it was put on a plate for him, and Howard must have been severely pissed off with the long balls to him. Pearson's substitutions were poor aswell. I'm not sure where Dickov was supposed to be playing but it wasn't his proper position and DJ Campbell..............................
Darkzzz_ Posted 13 September 2008 Posted 13 September 2008 Oh well... I am annoyed as are all of you but I am confident we can bounce back. We were very very poor today, but so were Millwall, although to there credit, they worked harder for each other all over the park. Almost every pass we tried to get through, they somehow came out with the ball. I sit behind the dugout area and Pearson was pulling his hair out at times. Tough one to take as I didn't think Millwall were great shakes at all. Just a bad day at the office. Oh and Dickov on the right, what is that all about it?
Samilktray Posted 13 September 2008 Posted 13 September 2008 DJ Campbell.............................. He only had like 10 minutes didnt he?
Asha Posted 13 September 2008 Posted 13 September 2008 Disappointed to lose, and I was swearing and frustrated as fook during that. A couple of people at the start of this thread said we should get rid of Fryatt and that Dyer was a 'useless buy'...and they obviously haven't been to many games this season. Dyer and Fryatt have been amongst our top performers. One bad game today. Please don't make judgments like that unless you've been to the game, and I take it from the time you posted that you haven't. Some say relegation was a blessing in disguise, and maybe so will this defeat be. Hope this gives the players the boot up the arse and it benefits us in the long run. 'When we get promoted in March' threads for example were rediculous, and a lot of leicester fans were getting too complaicent. Confidence is a good thing, but complaicency will cost us. Thought it was a shocking performance, and to put the Colchester game off looks like a terrible decision now. I really hope no-one mentions the MOTM curse, because that's total bollocks. Roll on Orient, we need 3 points again....6th place in the league, with a game in hand.
DB11 Posted 13 September 2008 Posted 13 September 2008 But the severity of the challenges does. Tunchevs shoulder barge the same as the foul on Martin? That was Tunchevs first foul of the game and it wanst like it was breaking up a major scoring opportunity as there was plenty of cover. The ref wimped out at times today but what's done is done. We were outbattled all over the park today. End of! Yes I agree that the booking for Tunchev was harsh and unlucky; from where I was I didn't even think it was a foul.
Tilley Posted 13 September 2008 Posted 13 September 2008 He only had like 10 minutes didnt he? Yes, Sam. What can the guy do in ten minutes. The DJ hate on here, is very very uneccessary.
Samilktray Posted 13 September 2008 Posted 13 September 2008 Yes, Sam.What can the guy do in ten minutes. The DJ hate on here, is very very uneccessary. It is a bit silly really.
Maybes Posted 13 September 2008 Posted 13 September 2008 Very disappointed with the poor today. As people have said Millwall came with a game plan and stuck to it. They defended well against the long ball tactic that we seemed to employ time after time today. Why we kept on hoofing it up top I will never know. We could have played for an extra 30minutes and still not scored, due to the lack of creativity all over the park. This game is now gone, it is how we react to defeats like this that will really show how well we are going to to this season. 3 points at Orient would go down a treat and put us back on the right track again.
Tilley Posted 13 September 2008 Posted 13 September 2008 It is a bit silly really. His movement was good when he came on, always had his head up, finding the pass. He gets caught offside, maybe he is just too keen to impress. Give the guy a break.
C-man Posted 13 September 2008 Posted 13 September 2008 Several things alarmed me today. Firstly, our goalkeeper has to be replaced by Hendo. He makes me nervous even when the ball is passed back to him with no pressure. Our defence scared me today, thinking they were good enough to play their way out of trouble instead of getting it clear which ultimately lead to their goal. They completely bossed the midfield, and marked both Gradel and Dyer out of the game with ease. We created very few chances. Fryatt looked off the pace and greedy. Howard received shite service again. Other than that I saw no reason why we shouldn't have won the game!
dandannieldanok Posted 13 September 2008 Posted 13 September 2008 He only had like 10 minutes didnt he? The two shots he had were two of the worst shots I've seen for a while. Admittedly he looked lively, but there's no quality there.
Nod.E Posted 13 September 2008 Posted 13 September 2008 Ohhhh I do love this. One bad game and every player who played badly should be chucked out of the team. Some of these players have up to now been our best players. Are you telling me seriously that at work, in your own professions - you don't have off days in which you make mistakes? They are only human and it's ridiculous to get on their backs! It's the first loss of the season for christ sake. Some of the errors that cost us our loss today can be worked on. We have a young team and this will hopefully act as a reality check. You can tell the inexperience of some of our players, like Gradel. He needs to press more often than In other news - Me and The Stig made an appearance on BBC radio leicester pre-match.
Maybes Posted 13 September 2008 Posted 13 September 2008 The two shots he had were two of the worst shots I've seen for a while. Admittedly he looked lively, but there's no quality there. What you mean like the 4 or 5 Gradel shots aswell Dont get me wrong I'm not the biggest DJ fan, but he doesn't get much love around here does he? Like people have said he will not set the walkers alight in 10minutes. I thought he did well when he came on, gave us a different option at front.
Flynny Posted 13 September 2008 Posted 13 September 2008 He didn't play hoofball at all, what game were some of you watching? Most of the fairly reasonable amount of long passes to Howard were flat to his chest, not the rugby-style up-and-unders of last season. Most of what we were doing worked, we just had difficulty getting into shooting positions. Both Dyer and Gradel were being marked by 2, sometimes three men. The onus was on the central midfield from then to create something for us, but they didn't and didn't look convincing at all when they needed to be more than able support to our wingers. I'd say "especially Oakley" at this point, but the amount King lost possession makes it about even. Shorn of most of their support I think Howard and Fryatt both did fairly well, considering. Let's not talk about Michael Morrisson. Oh dear. Tunchev probably our best player on the day in that he didn't really put a foot wrong, and his defending and positioning let us carry on trying to attack when we moved to something resembling a 3-4-3. Millwall did their jobs very well and kept men behind the ball at most times. They were pretty good, in fairness.
dandannieldanok Posted 13 September 2008 Posted 13 September 2008 One bad game and every player who played badly should be chucked out of the team. I agree with the sentiment but if we let players get away with shoddy performances then the whole chosen men syndrome begins again. I don't want wholesale changes for the next game but a small shake-up wouldn't do any harm, we've got a big enough squad. If Kisnorbo is already in full training I'd hope that he is at least considered for a start next saturday, our defence bar Powell was so poor today.

Milwall obviously did their homework, and had a game plan - although they're dirty ****ers - you have to say they did their job very well.
dandannieldanok Posted 13 September 2008 Posted 13 September 2008 What you mean like the 4 or 5 Gradel shots aswell I've only rated Gradel 0.5 better than Campbell, trust me I thought he was pretty shit too.
Lillehamring Posted 13 September 2008 Posted 13 September 2008 Yes, Sam.What can the guy do in ten minutes. The DJ hate on here, is very very uneccessary. he's the new elvis hammond.

But there are other methods of punishment than replacing key players. However if they didn't do anything to improve on their performance next week i'd be inclined to at least sub them. I'm sure Pearson will give them a rollocking. It's all about how they come back from this defeat that matters.
Tilley Posted 13 September 2008 Posted 13 September 2008 I've only rated Gradel 0.5 better than Campbell, trust me I thought he was pretty shit too. I know Gradel has had to deal with a family bereavement recently, but he has been crap in all fairness. Maybe he might show us his best form when he is mentally focused again.
James_lcfc Posted 13 September 2008 Posted 13 September 2008 My god that was an awful display! Starting at the back- Did Hobbs win one first ball? Did Morrison? They have been fantastic so far (Hobbs in particular) winning everything, but im honestly not sure if I've seen two centre backs play so poorly. They were absolutely shocking. BUT they're young and everyone has their off days. Tunchev came into centr back and stabilised things, I can't understand why he didn't start anyway when he is clearly better than Morrison, but hey thats just my opinion. Midfield- Anyone who went will tell you Gradel and Dyer were very poor today. I went to the game with a mate who is a Burnley fan who was shocked with the overall display but did say that Maxi was the only player on the pitch who looked like he actually wanted the ball and was constantly making himself available- speaks volumes for the lads confidence. He was having a poor game sure, but I personally would not have taken him off. Lets not go into Dyer and Gradels corners/free-kicks. King and Oakley? Looked lathargic, heavy legged, much like Oakley in particular did most of last season to be honest. They never really got to grips with the game and were more than matched by the Millwall central midfielders, who looked more up for the battle. Strikers- Same as King and Oakley really. Didn't look up for it, didn't work as a pair, looked lost. Howard didn't win enough in the air which he has been doing so far this season. DJ looked lively when he came on but didn't have long enough. I'm still not sure where Dickov was playing but he had no effect. Poor overall, but I'm not reading too much into it, you don't become a poor team overnight (or in our case 11 days). But we really do need to bounce back quickly if we're to get this performance well and truly out of the system Bring on the Orient!!!
Tevez Posted 13 September 2008 Posted 13 September 2008 I'm not going to post nothing but todays performance was woeful.
Bert Posted 13 September 2008 Posted 13 September 2008 I'm not going to post nothing but todays performance was woeful. You just did! Also DB11 will never make it as a ref.
