This man doesn't put a foot wrong (off the field) in my book. His recent World interview is a typical example of someone we've been crying out for in the squad for so long - calm, assured and intelligent. He is playing as if he was born with blue blood and talks with the knowledge of the influence he has on the younger players. With him in the side last season things may have been different - but I'm nothing short of delighted he's here this season. Whether he plays regularly or becomes more of a bit-part player as the season rolls on he will continue to be one of the most influencial people in the squad. He deserves a song.

James. Posted 30 September 2008 Posted 30 September 2008 Loved him at Orient. Looked well up for it, gesturing to the crowd, getting everyone going. Easy for a player of his age and experience to lose his motivation so all the more credit to him for doing the opposite. Brilliant.

I've just watched this and have to agree 100%. Don't know if it's years of media training or just a very switched on guy with a lot to offer - I would tend to go for the latter. He will be one to watch for the future. Let's hope he's got a few more playing years left in him yet, but I wouldn't bet against him emerging as a very good coach or a talented manager. Either way, let's hope we can hang onto him a little while longer.
