Tabou Posted 4 November 2008 Posted 4 November 2008 Still could be worst ... Could be a mardy arsed plastic welsh chap. Or an inarticulate, obtuse little arsewipe.
Head Honcho Posted 4 November 2008 Posted 4 November 2008 What worries me most is the amount of people voting for Obama because he's black and not because he's the best man. I know there are just as many doing the opposite but we tend to know who most of them knuckleheads are! I don't know what's worse voting for him because he's black or not voting for him because he's black Both are not ready to lead a nation like America but then who is? Let's just hope that if McCain wins he's stays healthy
Finnegan Posted 4 November 2008 Posted 4 November 2008 Like I said, the only thing about the race issue that really annoys me is that the same people voting for Obama because he's black are the same people that would be in uproar if they heard a white voter voting for McCain purely because he's white. But given that the black population of America that receive the widest media coverage are those less-well-off than the average white American, it's hardly surprising that Obama would represent their demographic anyway, being the "liberal" choice. John McCain sincerely worries me. Even our own Conservative MPs think another Republican office would be a nightmare and are eager to see Obama in office. You have to remember, by British standards they're both right wing anyway! I think Obama's intelligent, charismatic, well spoken and has put a hell of a lot into his campaign. I think McCain's a slander-merchant with one of the most worryingly stupid politicians he could have picked bobbing around with him. Palin's as good a reason to vote for Obama as anything else.
Flynny Posted 4 November 2008 Posted 4 November 2008 McCain's an honourable moderate who's completely hidden this fact to win a shot at the presidency. If he wins I've really no problem with that. Obama might be a brilliant president but he's really only an inspirational blank page that people are desperately pinning their hopes too. I'm not bothered either way, these two are the best two candidates in the same election for decades. The only way that American politicians are more right-wing than ours is an instinctive aversion to anything vaguely socialist. To call Obama 'right-wing' is wrong, he's one of the most left-wing politicians in the US (albeit one who's covered that fact up well), and McCain is only really just to the right of centre.
Sir Fynwy Posted 4 November 2008 Posted 4 November 2008 I like oven chips but I couldn't vote McCain, stick to what you're good at.

Hence "by our standards." Let's be fair. Being the most left wing politician in American mainstream politics is like being the least racist member of the Ku Klux Klan.
Tilley Posted 4 November 2008 Posted 4 November 2008 Obama's grandmother has died on the eve of the elections, All he needed.
Master Fox Posted 4 November 2008 Posted 4 November 2008 What do you mean ? Scandal in the greatest, powerful nation on earth ?!I hate America by the way, too over the top. Oh my goodness.
Tabou Posted 4 November 2008 Posted 4 November 2008 Oh my goodness. This is what happens when you give children freedom of speech.

But you're right, i wonder if any black person in the whole of country is going to vote McCain? I doubt it. I still want Obama to win, and have all along. I even have a t-shirt

McCain may have been a hero BUT he offers nothing more then the current administration!!

The Blur Posted 4 November 2008 Posted 4 November 2008 Well, i just voted for Obama. Which state do you live in MasterFox?
Master Fox Posted 4 November 2008 Posted 4 November 2008 Which state do you live in MasterFox? Virginia.
Monk Posted 4 November 2008 Posted 4 November 2008 Virginia is going blue. My girlfriend is from Lynchburg and has voted by proxy, blue of course. Will be very interesting to see how this unfolds. Virginia is pretty key as it has early results. If Obama wins it will be very difficult for the Republicans to win, even if they get Florida.

Read about this in Mirror today An interesting article on how which state will swing the votes for the president race. Thats why I asked MasterFox
Master Fox Posted 4 November 2008 Posted 4 November 2008 What time is it likely to be decided by? Probably around noon tomorrow our time
Tilley Posted 4 November 2008 Posted 4 November 2008 What time is it likely to be decided by? Early hours I reckon.

Watching the news it seems mainly to be the uneducated or women with a chip on their shoulder both of which don't usually go out to vote! Obama will win purely on the amount of first time voters who want to see a black man as president sad but true I'm afraid!

I even have a t-shirt The democrats usually win 85-90% of the black vote anyway but the polls are saying that about 95% of the black population are voting Obama. I agree, race shouldn't play a role either positively or negatively but at the end of the day race will only help Obama.
