jimmer Posted 19 October 2008 Posted 19 October 2008 Did Morrison have a particularly bad first half against Oldham? or was he injured. Obviously it was good to see Paddy out again but that change couldn't have done Morrisons confidence much good. Think he has done quite well since his move here.

Put in a couple of good challenges and has been a bit over-criticised by most.
dandannieldanok Posted 19 October 2008 Posted 19 October 2008 I wasn't there so I can't really say what happened but if Morrison wasn't injured, it seemed a strange decision to throw Kisnorbo in at the deep-end in probably our toughest game this season after so long out.
Webbo Posted 19 October 2008 Posted 19 October 2008 I don't think he's that bad. What people should remember is that Hobbs will be returning to Liverpool at the end of the season, Morrison is ours. He needs to gaining experience at this level so that he can become the mainstay of our defence next season if/when we go up.
Bluefoxtim Posted 19 October 2008 Posted 19 October 2008 Since the takeover of Safeway, it has become pretty big. Self service checkouts have been added, new uniforms have been issued. Watch out Tesco that's all I can say.
Legend_in_blue Posted 19 October 2008 Posted 19 October 2008 Listening to the radio, Kisnorbo sounded decidedly more dodgy than Morrison when he came on. When you look at the league table and see which is the only team to have conceded goals amounting to single figures, you'd wonder how you could have scope to criticise.

Agreed Hobbs will be going back, however couple of my mates are Liverpool fans and they think there could 'possibly' be a chance to sign him, if promoted. Never going to get into the Liverpool side for some years yet. who knows hey! I also think if he goes back, first choice if fit would surly be Kissa and Tunch so morrison would only be back up next season......which i would be more than happy with. Morrison looks good from what ive seen, one for the future if he can keep a level head and who better to guide him than Pearson
Bryn Posted 19 October 2008 Posted 19 October 2008 Yes I'm often told by Liverpool fans that he's never going to get Carragher's berth like a lot of people seem to think. If we give em a good offer they might let him go.

If we give em a good offer they might let him go. I too, would like to see Hobbs join us on a permanent basis if we secure promotion (probably the only way a bid would be taken seriously). I also think Morrison does have a bright future, but still has a lot to learn (even at this level). Pearson seems to have taken him under his wing and obviously believes he has potential. Although I missed the match yesterday, and Kisnorbo's return, I feel that the jury's out on Skip retaining a place in the starting eleven or in the squad come January. Holding on/pulling at strikers is one of his infamous party pieces that has resulted in too many conceded free-kicks and bookings in the past.

I'd agree with that. I thought Morrison's distribution was poor yesterday (although Kisnorbo isn't any better in that respect) and he didn't have his best game, but it was still a surprise to see him subbed.
lildave3 Posted 19 October 2008 Posted 19 October 2008 I didn't think he was that bad, certainly not bad enough to be hauled off after 45 minutes. And Kisnorbo did not look very good when he came on.

yorksfox Posted 19 October 2008 Posted 19 October 2008 Yesterday was the first time I'd seen Morrison play (apart from 1 minute at Huddersfield- I live up north and rarely get down to Leicester!). I have to say that I was well impressed with his first half performance and that our defence was decidedly shaky in the second half - thanks in no small part to poor distribution and decision making from the clearly over-rated Kisnobo. In the long term I'd put more faith in Morrison.

Jimmy Posted 19 October 2008 Posted 19 October 2008 I doubt Kisnorbo will be here much beyond January anyway, its a case of having to show he's recovered and getting a much as we can for 1 of our high earners
syston_fox Posted 19 October 2008 Posted 19 October 2008 I am useful occasionally. I'm still yet to see it
Sparky Posted 19 October 2008 Posted 19 October 2008 Made a few errors 1st half and did look shaky but was suprised to see him hauled off for Kisnorbo who in turn looked rusty
clazkel Posted 19 October 2008 Posted 19 October 2008 I thought Morrison looked solid first half, i really don't know why he was subbed, i thought that was a risky move to bring Kisnorbo on as he hadn't played a first team game in a while maybe Morrison has picked up an injury. 2 subs at half time was risky imo, i can understand why Adams was subbed as he didn't have a great first half, but i wouldn't have subbed Adams or Morrison, so maybe they picked up knocks.

In the long term I'd put more faith in Morrison. Interesting. I must say I noticed the fact that in the second half we didn't play football and returned to hoof ball. I was very impressed with ball retention all over the field in the first half. In the second though the defence bi-passed the midfield with long ball after long ball. This invited pressure from Oldham and made them look good. I hadn't however linked to the defensive substitution rather the attitude after scoring a goal. Interesting.
Fox92 Posted 20 October 2008 Posted 20 October 2008 I though it was because that Davies (number 10) was giving Morrison a hard time, although he did make some good interceptions. Bringing Kisnorbo on was a gamble I thought, but he did well. But, who does Nigel choose for Walsall? It has got to be an unchanged team surley?
Simi Posted 20 October 2008 Posted 20 October 2008 Tunchev & Hobbs > Morrison & Kisnorbo. I thought Morrison looked shaky on Saturday. He seems far to hesitant with his clearances and often gives the ball away carelessly. He still has the lower league look about him, but Pearson is no doubt the man to be able to change that. For now, I'd stick with Hobbs and Tunchev. Kisnorbo doesn't fill me with confidence. His hands on approach costs us far to much and if Saturday is anything to go by, he still hasn't learnt to pass a football on the floor.
Southern Fox Posted 20 October 2008 Posted 20 October 2008 Being controversial but also honest - i think Morrison has been one of our most consistent and better performers this season. I cant remember him putting a foot wrong or making a mistake that led to a goal. But he has senior figures ahead of him whose salaries a starting spot but his time will come just hope the lads confidence doesnt disappear because up until now in my opinion he has been really decent
Ric Flair Posted 20 October 2008 Posted 20 October 2008 I like Morrison, there's a lot more to come from him. This season is all about developing him and getting him used to first team professional football. Pearson has taken him under his wing and I reckon he see's him as potentially a quality player and he'll develop him accordingly. He likes to get Morrison to organise the defence, which at 20 is a big responsibility but it also will help him learn quickly. He's hardly put a foot wrong when he's played, but possibly been overshadowed by Tunchev and Hobbs, but that doesn't mean to say he's been poor. Far from it. Looking forward to seeing him get better and better hopefully.
