Benji Posted 29 October 2008 Posted 29 October 2008 It's just stupid now the whole 'we are the license payers and we are paying too much of his wages' talk is just annoying, if not over-hyped by the media at the end of the day their suspensions will just mean we lose out even more, because we lose at least 1 very good show that we are paying our licenses for! I'm really peeved that the plug has been pulled for this friday's show idiots EDIT: the thing that is annoying me the most is that someone at the BBC will be being paid very well to monitor pre-recorded radio and TV programmes and decide whether they are suitable or not As entertainers Ross and Brand should be allowed to say whatever the hell they like if they think it will make a good show, it is for the 'invisible man' to say no when they cross the line. There is no reason to take any future shows off the air if there is still someone capable of deciding what is right or wrong!

The point is what was broadcast was a pre-recorded show and so there are people being paid to decide what is and is not suitable to go on air. Ross and Brand are being paid to entertain and although what they've done is a mistake, sometimes it's only easy with hindsight to say something has crossed the line. You only have to look at Ricky Gervais, how popular he is and how many people love him, yet if you sat and took 90% of his jokes literally you'd write a complaint every 2 minutes! Equally some of Little Britain's sketches, like the one's where the old woman vomits at the thought of a non-english person baking a cake.
