Zingari Posted 30 October 2008 Posted 30 October 2008 And if we had too many rules where would we be.........GERMANY!And we had rules saying that 2 grown men that should know better can't leave dirty answerphone messages...... Great Britain!
Daggers Posted 30 October 2008 Posted 30 October 2008 What a farce, they both apologized, I'm disgusted. And what a ridiculous country we live in, Farce. Really ridiculous! Just imagine people being held to account for doing something incredibly stupid and bringing their employer into disrepute! I thought we'd forgotten about such things years ago and now allowed anyone to do what the shit they liked. Crassly idiotic BBC. Stupid media. I may never pay my license fee again.
Bellend Sebastian Posted 30 October 2008 Posted 30 October 2008 I may never pay my license fee again. It's worth it just for Have Your Say
The Stig Posted 30 October 2008 Posted 30 October 2008 The whole thing, a shambles that should never have happened. And I blame the programmes producer and the controller of Radio 2 more than anyone. They should have realised that they were working with two of the biggest most contreversial characters in the buissness, therefore with the programme not going out live, their should have been a strict editing process. There wasn't, it slipped through the net, which shouldn't have happened. As for Russel, as much as I love him, he had to go. Its his show, he should have been more responsible. It's a real shame as it was a great show, and I believe he is a nice bloke who needs respecting for his decsision. Hos career will recover. As for Ross, he should have had the sense to know he was taking it too far. He didn't and the 12 week suspension is an appropriate punishment. Good decsision Mark Thompson (BBC Director General). His show though may take a little time to recover, as some celeb's, particualrly older ones will not see him in the same light any more. It will be interseting to watch the British Comedy Awards this December. Ross is supposed to be hosting that and it is broadcast on ITV, so he will be allowed to. He may not be as mercilless in his ribbing of celeb's due to this.
Daggers Posted 30 October 2008 Posted 30 October 2008 It's worth it just for Have Your Say It's my right! ...they were working with two of the biggest most contreversial characters in the buissness... And so this is it huh? The cutting edge of controversial comedy boils down to two self-absorbed cockends insulting an old man on his answerphone. Maybe this is why none of my scripts get taken up these days? I'm being too middle of the road, obviously. C'mon Stig, stop buying into this bullshit. They aren't controversial - Ross is only where he is because he said the phrase 'anal sex' on TV 15 years ago and Brand is only there because he looks like a lady but is really a man (which is nothing more than a rehash of a Victorian freakshow side exhibit). They are as collectively controversial as bus passes. I couldn't really give a shit but those phone calls were incredibly stupid and rude...then were the equivalent of a teenager phoning up some random number and taking the piss. That isn't cutting edge, that's lowest common denominator...it's as base, balls-out fucking mindless entertainment as you can get. No intelligence, no wit, no point. It's what happens when two over-rated tosspots are allowed free reign without script writers and a producer is placed in charge who cowers in the face of apparent celebrity. I wonder what cutting-edge controversial thing they'll do next? Slapping a kick-me sign on the back of Gazza? Actually, thinking about it, that'd be hilarious.
Monk Posted 31 October 2008 Posted 31 October 2008 I laughed a lot at this story. I really couldn't care less, but it's nice to see people actually recognising both of these men as the absolute cocks that they are for a change. Russel Brand in particular can fook off back to Channel 4. Also it just goes to show how the BBC is falling apart these days.... looking forward to the day I don't have to actually PAY for this sh.it to happen.
Ultra Posted 31 October 2008 Posted 31 October 2008 Heads have rolled, and rightly so. But it's ridiculous to pretend that this episode has irredeemably tarnished the entire BBC. Its range of output is probably unparalleled anywhere in the world. And its TV programmes are way ahead of anything produced by ITV, Sky or anybody else. Don't listen to siren voices of those who say that anything in public ownership is automatically inferior, and the market knows best. As many a banker has found in recent weeks, it doesn't.
lildave3 Posted 31 October 2008 Posted 31 October 2008 No Friday Night With Jonathan Ross for 3 months?
Daggers Posted 31 October 2008 Posted 31 October 2008 No Friday Night With Jonathan Ross for 3 months? No Jonathan Ross in anything for three months. Which means a cast iron guarantee that there'll be no re-screening of Spiceworld

Don't listen to siren voices of those who say that anything in public ownership is automatically inferior, and the market knows best. As many a banker has found in recent weeks, it doesn't. Hurrah! Ladies and Gentleman!!!! Finally a post making the inevitable but utterly stupid, media-manufactured-type link between this ridiculous over reaction and the recent global banking crisis. Let the BBC run the banks! Brilliant.
