mainstream tv needs to be much more sensitive than concerts that one chooses to attend ,

i'm sure if russell brand had have made a racist remark on mainstream tv or radio you would understand that whether there were 20 or 20, 000 complaints at the time of broadcast , there would be ramifications

He pissed Rod Stewart off at some awards thing too. Inferred he had shagged Rod's daughter. When Rod took to the stage and showed Brand up he managed to get a full apology out of Brand. So its not the first time he has pulled the same stunt but to do it to a 78 year old man is not a step forward.

It was out of order, I would have had more respect for them had they done it to Sach's personally instead of cowardly leaving the messages on his answerphone.

It has been blown massively out of proportion and its not exactly unexpected when it comes to Ross and Brands track records of offensive humour but at least its all resolved now on the personal side.

It wasn't planned. They were ringing him up for an interview about his programme 'The Bill Made Me Famous' but he didn't answer it. Everything they said was being made up as they went along, it wasn't planned.

All because 20,000 people who never listened to his show are suddenly offended.

I never said it was right. Look back to my original post. I said it was wrong. But the reaction was over the top. The fact it was on the radio isn't their fault though.

The producer, BBC were also responsible for putting the programme out but that doesn't lessen the guilt of Brand and Ross. It was a cheap, pathetic stunt and they deserve all they get.

No they don't at all. You need to listen to the whole program or the podcast and put it in context, you can't just go on what you've heard. I was listening to it and this whole thing is a ridiculous over reaction. It was a joke, people need to lighten up, end of.

i listened to the show on the saturday night it was aired , personally i thought it was funny but did cringe a little but then again thats russell brand and if you listen to his show you expect that. if andrew sachs is upset then he deserves an apology and as long as he exepts that apology then that should be the end of it. his grandaughter who slept with a world wide star and is in a group called the SATANIC SLUTS im sorry but shes asking for a bit of a piss take. im glad russell brand isnt on radio 2 now he deserves better than those moaning old gits.

Pretty nasty thing to do to an innocent old man. BBC should have edited it properly considering the intended target of the call. Brand should have got his apology out quicker and that would have been the end of it. Brand and Ross were stupid, but not malicious.

To summarise, I despise, in the following order:

1. The General Public

2. The Daily Mail

3. The BBC

Was the Radio Show not live at the time the lewd comments made? If so how could the BBC of edited the show?

This thread has gone seriously off the rails and too many personal insults thrown into the air which in my opinion is bang out of order.
