maddog Posted 3 November 2008 Posted 3 November 2008 A good manager. Bad start to the season though, http://www.watfordfc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/...1442794,00.html
Simi Posted 3 November 2008 Posted 3 November 2008 Don't know what Watford are expecting to be honest, I don't think they have a good enough squad to go back up.
Father Ted Posted 3 November 2008 Posted 3 November 2008 Overrated tbh. I know a Watford fan and he says that Bothroyd is a rubbish manager and there are a lot of problems at Watford off the pitch.
Tevez Posted 3 November 2008 Posted 3 November 2008 Shocking that, me thinks Pearson for Watford for some reason.
Asha Posted 3 November 2008 Posted 3 November 2008 Boothroyd was a good manager. He'll get another decent championship job.
NewquayFox Posted 3 November 2008 Posted 3 November 2008 Watford sacked Ady Boothroyd tonight, this is the Manager that took this pisspot club up to the Premier League on little or no budget. Whos next, Mark Hughes after spending millions. ;0/
Lovejoy Posted 3 November 2008 Posted 3 November 2008 General Footeh & Sport surely ? Anyway, in the modern climate, I'm not massively surprised! A talented manager, but Watford aren't having a good season at all.
Joe. Posted 3 November 2008 Posted 3 November 2008 He'll find somewhere else soon enough. I wouldn't call it a shocking decision, the life of a manager is extremely limited these days.
Matt Posted 3 November 2008 Posted 3 November 2008 He'll find somewhere else soon enough. I wouldn't call it a shocking decision, the life of a manager is extremely limited these days. He's done well, 3 1/2 years think I heard. For a manager nowadays that's a good record.
JoeyB Posted 3 November 2008 Posted 3 November 2008 Boothyroyds a great manager. If Pearson goes, i hope he doesn't but if he goes boothroyd should be top target if he is still unemployed. He got Watford to the prem with no money and has had no money to spend, which resulted in him loosing key players.
Moreton Posted 3 November 2008 Posted 3 November 2008 That is a real shocker. He's a hard working Manager is Aidy
hellIfIKnow Posted 3 November 2008 Posted 3 November 2008 Hello, a hornet here. Interesting to read your opinions on this decision. It certainly came as a shock to me. I can't see any benefit in Aidy going now at this stage. He did spend / blow a lot of money (for us at least) last season but he was allowed to. Due to our monumental blow up last season we didn't get promoted and the gamble failed, resulting in us having to sell a lot of our main players. Our dire performances in the 2nd half of last season also made Aidy rethink our approach and style for this season. At first I was skeptical but this season the change has been noticeable. Despite having a small squad, made even smaller thanks to a big injury list, we have played it on the floor and at times with good effect. Up until the last few games, I'd say performances have been encouraging, even if results haven't always gone our way. Our main problem, particularly lately, has been defensively. This hasn't been helped by not having a settled defence due to injuries and our 3rd choice keeper Lee (the other 2 got injured in the same week), has been at his most inconsistent. Apart from not being able to defend a sand castle, the club is up for sale with no apparent interest and there is an EGM to pursue a vote of no confidence. So to get rid of Aidy now just seems..well..Toonesque. I doubt we'll get anyone until we have new owners and even then I doubt we will be top of anyone's list. Sorry if I've bored you all, just felt like typing something in response.
Libertine Posted 3 November 2008 Posted 3 November 2008 How queer. Can't say I'm surprised though, due to Watford's league position.
Ric Flair Posted 4 November 2008 Posted 4 November 2008 My opinion of Aidy Boothroyd remains unclear.
Fox92 Posted 4 November 2008 Posted 4 November 2008 Should sign him a coach if he wanted to come as a coach Gareth Williams was a good player, one of the best passes of the game I've ever seen. It's just that when teams play it via the air he has no impact
Fox92 Posted 4 November 2008 Posted 4 November 2008 Heard they want Ollie? Yeh he's on the bookies list, so is Martin Allen
Kilworthfox Posted 4 November 2008 Posted 4 November 2008 What a decision! I believe that Boothroyd achieved the impossible in his promotion season! Waford directors must need their head testing, look at Leicester what wold we have given to have a manager like Boothroyd last year? Crazy, hope they go down in a way just to show the directors that loyalty & respect should be given to those who are successful!
