surrifox Posted 17 November 2008 Posted 17 November 2008 over misleading statements about the missed drug test
AmericanScott Posted 17 November 2008 Posted 17 November 2008 Some extra dough for the transfer kitty! Played Pearson.
Matt Posted 17 November 2008 Posted 17 November 2008 Source. Source found; http://www.lcfc.com/page/LatestNews/0,,10274~1456764,00.html In response to the report in the Times newspaper (Thurs Nov 13th) Nigel Pearson states that the missed drug test of a Leicester player happened outside his tenure as manager of Leicester City FC.The missed drug test occurred in April 2008, whilst Pearson was appointed as Foxes manager on June 20, 2008. He also accepts as manager of said club his reponsibility to comply with the current drug testing rules by explaining to the players their obligations with regards to their whereabouts. He has also ensured that the players of the said club are aware that the ultimate responsibility for stating the wherabouts on missed training days rests with themselves. He has also instucted his lawyer to contact the Times Newspaper in regard to the misrepresentation of facts, and his named part in the article(13th Nov 2008), and subsequent potential harm to his reputation.
sdb Posted 17 November 2008 Posted 17 November 2008 hmmm is there any need?? i'm sure nobody read it and thought 'silly NP', plus his names been cleared from any association with it now anyway. this'll just ditract from what the club and in particular, NP, should be focusing on. imo.
James. Posted 17 November 2008 Posted 17 November 2008 Hardly that much of a distraction is it? The lawyers will handle everything and it will probably just result in an apology printed in The Times. No big deal.
Unabomber Posted 17 November 2008 Posted 17 November 2008 When I saw Nigel Pearson statement I thought he had quit or something.
Benji Posted 17 November 2008 Posted 17 November 2008 the papers have been wise enough to take the articles offline, shame I could have put all last years work into practice if I could read it out-of court settlement probably, nothing massive

Benji Posted 17 November 2008 Posted 17 November 2008 http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/foo...icle5143368.ece Very silly! Living proof that Newspapers really should get their facts right before publishing, if as NP says he wasn't manager at the time. I would imagine this isn't th elast we hear of this.

It's hardly gunna be the OJ trial mate.
Matt Posted 17 November 2008 Posted 17 November 2008 Anyone think this is more "MM suing the Times"? Milan loves a good court, media battle.

The Stig Posted 17 November 2008 Posted 17 November 2008 When I saw Nigel Pearson statement I thought he had quit or something. Hopefully he'll be sacked soon anyway. This second in the league milaki is not acceptable.

Hear, hear. He's made his response. No-one will doubt the truth of what he says. How his reputation will be in the least bit damaged by The times article I've no idea. Who really gives a toss about some bloody drugs test anyway? Pearson's surely got better things to do. If anything this petty action might harm his reputation more than ever the article would.

I actually thought the original times article was quite a good read and certainly wasn't slagging off Pearson or the club. It just highlighted how the new system has it's weaknesses.

Corky Posted 18 November 2008 Posted 18 November 2008 When it said Nigel Pearson Statement I thought he was resigning Surely the club would make a statement as well?
