Fryatt tight-lipped on new deal - rejects 2nd offer

These tribunal fees are never very big at all are they? and also would Walsall get a share of that?

We'd get our monies back that we paid for him, so we'd see about £500,000.

We get nothing if we don't offer him terms as good as or better than he is currently on, there is also a sell on clause which means Walsall get part of any fee.

Fryatt was signed under Levein when financially we had to cut back, so his salary is actually not as much as some might think. I know what Iain Hume was on when he signed for us and Fryatt is on less than Hume was apparently. So i'm sure we will offer him at least the same as he is on now, so we'll get compensation. Anyway, even if we weren't serious about keeping him and just wanted the compo, we'd offer him a new deal. Just like we did to Sheehan and Dodds.

Walsall only get a sell on if he is sold for more than we paid for him.

I understand that but I think we maybe underestimating how tight Milan is feeling at the moment, I'd be very surprised if any player is going to be offered better terms than they currently have and we won't sign any new players without selling first.

Maybe so, but surely he understands that he has a player who he can get money for if he offers him a contract that is equal or better than what he is on.

Don't agree - I can't see MM saying goodbye to a guy scoring goals & a decent potential selling fee. It'll come down to the numbers he can get elsewhere that an agent is whsipering into his ear, either we match it or he'll walk. MM will increase the salary, but to well-paid Championship levels? That last bit I doubt.

Offering the same money is risk-free for mandy. It is unlikely Fryatt will accept a contract on the same terms with 16 goals so far this season, and if he rejects it we get a transfer fee at the end of the season. This means Mandy cannot save money by offering him less than he is on now as he would have to kiss the transfer fee goodbye, while if he keeps the offer low enough there is no real danger he will have to pay the salary anyway.

As we have no real idea what his terms are at the moment debating them is not really worth the time taken, it is clear that the club isn't investing much at the moment but Milan isn't a fool and will do what he thinks needs doing to increase the clubs revenue, that said he didn't manage to stop us being relegated last year.

Having little grasp of the facts, and no grasp on reality, has never stopped me debating things before

Let's put it this way... if we don't get Fryatt to sign a new deal and he walks, we'll be losing our top striker and probably the only forward we have with any confidence at the moment... it'll be like shooting ourselves in the foot, so if he wants a slightly better contract or even quite a bit better, we should really be looking to offer him it as we need him.

Forest had a loan bid rejected yesterday :)

This kind of thing baffles me. Why on earth would we want to let out top striker go out on loan while we are in the hunt for automatic promotion? Especially as Forest will be coming back down shortly.

The only possible reason for them asking is they are trying to unsettle him. c*nts!

And with the sheep picking up former Foxes youngster Luke Varney yesterday on loan, with a view to a permanent deal, don't think Fryatt will be Pride Park bound...just yet.

I imagine they'd take him on loan now then sign him in Jan.

Hmmmmmmm.

Smells of BS to me. Is that forum reliable?

reading through i have seen this post.

From the whispers i've got from within the city, its true he's off to Wolves but not sure weather it is in jan or at the end of the season. The replacement lined up is Ricky Lambert for 500k and then if that falls through its Mackail-Smith from the posh. lambert is keen to come here though apprently

Again this is from a friend of a friend of someone that has contacts within the club. Take it as you see it for now. i'm always sceptical but i do think this one might be true this time and he told me nigel pearson was the man lined up 3 days before he was appointed so he has some knowledge down there, but he also told me howard had been sold to norwich before the start of the season too and he got that wrong.

would be well happy if that was the case, but don't think it will be.......

What Lambert and Howard up front? Give me strength. :frusty:

But he clearly isn't interested in signing a new contract listening to the interview on RL before the match, the only hope we have is keeping him till end of the season and him leaving for free (unlikely).

Simple then we just turn down any offer we recieve (Unless it really is too good to turn down).

However even if someone offers something really small Milan is just going to see pound signs and sell...
