Goal Music & The PHG

But if it's after the goals then with all due respect to him he's a big part of the problem, a fan since 1976 and 'maybe' still likes goal music.

As he hasn't yet replied I could be wrong, but I suspect there are many who fit that bill.

My view:

A Facebook group will do f**k all. I really, REALLY don't think you will get 10,000 people to join in any case (yes, I have joined regardless).

By FAR the best idea is from Tommeh but seems to have been missed by most. Print out a shitload of A4 posters with something simple like "NO TO GOAL MUSIC". Give them out around the ground. When we score everyone holds them up. Couple this with 5 concise reasons why there should be no goal music on the back of this flyer and you stand the best chance of 1. getting the message to the club and 2. getting the message to the fans who I believe, on the whole, are still very apathetic about the issue.

I would happily contribute to the cost of these flyers.

davieG's idea regarding the fans forum also sounds worth pursuing.

To be honest I think the group will just serve as a way get people in the know and and board to help out in whichever way they can, there is a huge number of city fans not on this forum and if the group is posted on BBC, people invite others and then at least people will know whats going on.

The club won't take any notice of any polls, groups or even petitions, it needs to be physical.

Me and Kilworth will hopefully inform some others in L1 on saturday of whats going to happen and at an upcoming home match, peterborough possibly flyers should be good to go.

And at least the facebook group has finally made Kilworth join Facey!!

Just another thought and I don't want to seem to be pissing on bonfires, will the club allow you to a)distribute the flyers (not sure of the legalities) and b)let people take them into the ground.

When we had the city/fosse malarky and cards for the england game, they soon became paper planes and rained down onto the pitch.

Is it worth as davie says trying to get the ears of the fans forum and asking for a sanctioned vote one half time or something?

Fair point regarding the Facebook group. As long as people realise it's there to raise awareness and won't on its own get anything changed.

I think it's really important to have some reasons on the back of the flyer. You're fighting apathy more than those that actually WANT the song played.

Whenever things go through the club don't they generally f**k up? N block for example.

I'm no expert but I'm not sure handing flyers out around the ground breaks any laws... And if it does are they that likely to be enforced?

It is getting worse, though I think fewer people are dancing to it (obviously yesterday there was a smaller crowd, but of the people there, % wise, it seemed fewer than normal), and my brother didn't dance to it, without any persuasion from me (good boy).

I went for the first time since Millwall last Tuesday and I thought there was a considerable difference in the number of people doing the dance. As far as I could see there was less doing it.

When we score :-

I get two or three seconds of celebration in.

Await control-freak to start dreaded music.

Sit down whilst cursing said person.

Await monkey dancing and music to finish.

Leap back up for a few seconds of celebration.

Maybe if enough people did that, they could visibly see that some people hate the music.

Unfortunately most people do seem to like being led by the tannoy.

I'll be honest, I'm not the MOST loyal City fan around, but I love the Club. I have been a season ticket holder in the past, but I wouldn't consider this again due to certain current elements of the match day experience, the Meccano stadium, and the poor football.

Chelsea Dagger sickens me, it makes me not want to celebrate when we score, it makes me look over at fellow fans doing the arm thing and hate them. Most importantly it makes me embarassed to be a supporter of a club, which is steadily becoming the most generic set-up in the Football League.

Yeah, to back up previous points, I never meant for it to be taken seriously by the club. Just to be used as a rallying point for people who want to make a difference.

I think a link to this thread needs to be sent to the clowns on the Moan in tonight. I wonder what they think of it?

Just sent this off to Charles Dagnell

Hopefully it will get read later on in the moan in.

Hi Guys,

As we all know Leicester City have traditionally come out to “The Post Horn Gallop” which has been replaced by a newer version, please can the club re-instate it's traditions and bring the old one back!

Also can we please make the club aware that the majority of Leicester fans dislike the generic & non Leicestershire "Chelsea Dagger" music played after goals, the fans want to celebrate with each other with out the detested music!

For an insight into what the fans think visit www.foxestalk.co.uk and see what they are saying on these issues.

P.S Love the goal Horn! :-) & have a happy Christmas.

Cheers Tom.

Goal music done German style. I honestly wouldn't mind this as much as I hate Chelsea Dagger. Link.

If it is a song which is part of their traditions then fair play to them, but it is not a Leicester custom, we have our own we just want our back.

To be posted in Twenty years time!

The old fashioned PHG and *Insert new pop song name here* ruin the whole game for me. Like someone said earlier i hate it when we score now, such an embarresment, bring back Chelsea Dagger. And why cant we have the PHG remix back? We had that for years and for some unknown reason the club have gone to an Old fashioned version. Even Filbert was doing the can can yesterday. Shameful :frusty:

The Fratellis are shit. Chelsea Dagger is shit.

The new PHG isn't too bad. I'd like that for the second half and the original for the first.

The Facebook group will we used as a point of contact and information, as the administrator of the group has the ability to send every member a message. Thus enabling them to post updates as to what we are going to do about the situation. I.E. Posters, flyers etc.

Anyone know what Jobbers stance on it is? He has some pull within the club and could be a good person to have on board?

The boat would probably sink with him on board.

If someone invites him to the facebook group then we might find out...

We'd all notice if he was dancing to it ;)

Oh, and if people do want to be admins on the facebook group (Maybes, Kilworthfox, Tommeh etc.) just let me know because due to the fact I'm not in Leicestershire most of the time I won't be able to help organise stuff regularly, though obviously will help out whenever I'm around.
