Simi Posted 30 November 2008 Posted 30 November 2008 I'll get onto SUSD, no doubt the FSF would be very happy to help. They always are.
leicesterseddon Posted 30 November 2008 Posted 30 November 2008 what's going to be the best way to get things changed then? here's what i think of the options: 1) Facebook group - good place to start but can't see the club taking it that seriously 2) Online petition - pointless 3) Ol' fashioned petition - much more effective but i can't see it getting the numbers i'm afraid 4) Cards held up at games - could be effective, but would need support from the mockery to even get off the ground 5) Banner in the stadium - would just look ironic with hundreds of kids dancing like trained monkeys next to it 6) Forum/meetings with the club - is like arguing with a brick wall what else? as i think i've said before, the most effective protests involve the club losing money; that's what they really care about, after all. really can't see anyhting like that happening though. the thing that really pisses me off is that the club didn't explain to the fans when it all began why they thought it would be a good idea. they brought it in without anyone asking for it, and they've never tried to justify it to the fans.
Hullfox Posted 30 November 2008 Posted 30 November 2008 Not sure the club will take the facebook group seriously when you refer to them as faceless morons. My limited knowledge of Peter Jones for one suggests that he is neither and insulting the club in your opening statement for me deflects from the real issue that you are raising.

In probably the only Critical Thinking class I actually listened to, apparently insults weaken arguments.
Edmund Posted 30 November 2008 Posted 30 November 2008 This is a version of the Post Horn Gallop. We used to run out to something very similar to this. For your information my ears are in perfect working order, and we have never met therefore are not mates. name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>"> name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"> Jesus Christ!! I know thats the post horn gallop. The one i was showing you was the post horn DAGGER. YES DAGGER. It is a remix of the post horn gallop and the chelsea dagger, that is all. And if you cant hear the post horn in that clip then yes there is something wrong with your ears as you stated there was nothing post horn about it. Plus definition of the word MATE : a. A person with whom one is in close association; an associate. I do believe we are in close association by using the same forum of interest.

Sorry, the introduction was written pretty hastily and I'll change it if you think it'll make a difference. I didn't really intend for the facebook group to presented as evidence to the club though, more to be used as a rallying point for people who want to help change the status quo.
l444ry Posted 30 November 2008 Posted 30 November 2008 I say boo the bloody thing out of existence and then join the opposition in taking the p*ss. A hearty rendition of "what a load of rubbish" or "what the fooking hell was that" ought to reach Mandaric and Jones' obvious selective lack of hearing on this issue.

Now I don't really mean that but it does rub you up the wrong way doesn't it? It's nothing to do with me really, I'm just pointing out that it might not be well received. You have a reasonable argument to make to the club and I'd hate for it to be discarded because of that one comment. You've written a lot of sense which obviously shows your passion but it's possible it could all be ignored.

I think a message along those lines should do it.
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 30 November 2008 Posted 30 November 2008 I heard a while back on 606 a genius idea from Danny Baker (yes him!) about how fans could get the clubs attention - and that is not to buy a programme. If you have enough people to make a stand against it, it will be noticed in the club coffers - and that always say's something to the people in charge. Now I can imagine that a few of us fans don't buy a programme anyway so how about refusing to purchase any additional items from LCFC on a paticular home game as a protest. No Programme, No Betting, No Food or Drinks - if enough people do it, it will be noticed, and if not you save yourself a few bob anyway!

Ladbrokes and the firm who tender the food contract will be fuming though
Guest Posted 30 November 2008 Posted 30 November 2008 Can I just point out here that Peter Jones has absolutely no say whatsoever in this at all? He is the Supporters Liaison Officer, which means he acts as a go-between for us and the various different departments at the club. Having a pop at him is like moaning at the shop assistant who sold you the dvd you've just bought which was absolute garbage. The decision to use goal music lies elsewhere.

Ladbrokes and the firm who tender the food contract will be fuming though Trust me if people didn't bet or buy food, although the clubs pockets wouldn't be directly affected, they would hear about it and be affected in-directly, and you'd have more pressure for the club to change stance as not only would they be answering to the fans but to the concession stands and ladbrokes.
Corky Posted 30 November 2008 Posted 30 November 2008 It is getting worse, though I think fewer people are dancing to it (obviously yesterday there was a smaller crowd, but of the people there, % wise, it seemed fewer than normal), and my brother didn't dance to it, without any persuasion from me (good boy). Other teams are taking the piss out of it, which is amusing and somewhat sad at the same time.

Ok lets say for that instance thats correct Can you see people who enjoy a pint pre match with a burger for the kid followed with a little dabble at the bookies giving all that up to make the club aware that post goal music is not unanimously approved. Now your turn to trust me , it aint gonna happen

Number 6 Posted 30 November 2008 Posted 30 November 2008 It's a shame that people feel there have to now stand still when a goal is scored to show that we do not want Chelsea Dagger. I do feel the music ruins the celebration of a goal. I far more enjoy the away days. Jumping up and down like a mad man, hugging anyone in range and belting out the next chant with all you've got!

James. Posted 1 December 2008 Posted 1 December 2008 My view: A Facebook group will do f**k all. I really, REALLY don't think you will get 10,000 people to join in any case (yes, I have joined regardless). By FAR the best idea is from Tommeh but seems to have been missed by most. Print out a shitload of A4 posters with something simple like "NO TO GOAL MUSIC". Give them out around the ground. When we score everyone holds them up. Couple this with 5 concise reasons why there should be no goal music on the back of this flyer and you stand the best chance of 1. getting the message to the club and 2. getting the message to the fans who I believe, on the whole, are still very apathetic about the issue. I would happily contribute to the cost of these flyers. davieG's idea regarding the fans forum also sounds worth pursuing.
carterfox90 Posted 1 December 2008 Posted 1 December 2008 i prefer the PHG but would also have club foot by kasabian
davieG Posted 1 December 2008 Posted 1 December 2008 i prefer the PHG but would also have club foot by kasabian When - after the goals or when they come on the pitch?
Kilworthfox Posted 1 December 2008 Author Posted 1 December 2008 When - after the goals or when they come on the pitch? Maybe at the same time in a mix <_<
davieG Posted 1 December 2008 Posted 1 December 2008 Maybe at the same time in a mix <_< But if it's after the goals then with all due respect to him he's a big part of the problem, a fan since 1976 and 'maybe' still likes goal music. As he hasn't yet replied I could be wrong, but I suspect there are many who fit that bill.
