Jimmy Posted 5 December 2008 Posted 5 December 2008 another issue that annoys me is that stupid "football is a family sport" announcement, who ever they got to do it has a really annoying voice, fook that off too
Daggers Posted 5 December 2008 Posted 5 December 2008 another issue that annoys me is that stupid "football is a family sport" announcement, who ever they got to do it has a really annoying voice, fook that off too Should we keep it as the preserve of angry idiot-males posturing that the opposition should "come on in"?
Kilworthfox Posted 5 December 2008 Author Posted 5 December 2008 Should we keep it as the preserve of angry idiot-males posturing that the opposition should "come on in"? There is no about it & you know it! YES
Fosse Boy Posted 5 December 2008 Posted 5 December 2008 "...and come on you Foxes!!!" :fox: :fox: :fox: Stirring stuff, it really is.
Fosse Boy Posted 5 December 2008 Posted 5 December 2008 Yay! Officially 300 members on the FB group now! Although two of those have been complaining about who "pathetic" the group is.

I think you have to accept some criticism. For what it's worth, I think a "protest" is ****ed before it starts. I reckon you need to sway public opinion using the media rather than going at it hammer and tongs from the outset. Bear in mind you only have the support of around 1.6% of the home attendance. A protest could simply be seen as something divisive or comical by the crowd and would be largely invisible if only 300 people are scattered throughout the four sides. As much as I'd rather we didn't play it I don't reckon you're backing a winner with this. Sorry.
davieG Posted 5 December 2008 Posted 5 December 2008 You also need to be clear on what it is you're against. No Chelsea Dagger No Goal Music, I suspect you'd get more support for the 1st then the 2nd and if the 1st was conceded who knows what they'd replace it with.
Guest Posted 5 December 2008 Posted 5 December 2008 I keeping on having flashbacks to the groundshare "protest". Sorry.
Hullfox Posted 5 December 2008 Posted 5 December 2008 A bit wishy washy then. I wish I'd just typed that instead of my answer.

Call it youthful naivety or whatever, but I personally am just not willing to accept the current situation and will do anything I can to get rid of it. It may sound stupid and petty, but the idea of having to hear it again is putting me off going to home games. I shouldn't have to cringe in embarrassment when my team score, I should be allowed to celebrate in my own way. Sure, it's highly unlikely that the club would listen to our views, but I can no longer allow myself to be part of an apathetic majority. It really does piss me off that much.
Lovejoy Posted 6 December 2008 Posted 6 December 2008 A protest isn't worth it until you've got a decent proportion of fans on your side. Otherwise, they'll view it as a minority outburst, making it even harder to make our voices heard. Unfortunately, a solid campaign could take a while to build up. As a member of the Facebook group, quite simply it's pointless at this stage in time, we simply haven't got the numbers to make our voice heard. However as a Season Ticket holder I'm willing to back you in any protest . This includes handouts as previously mentioned, or any other sort of active protest . If anyone wants to PM me or Facebook me I'm game, but in terms of an official protest, we aren't ready yet.

Maybe bombarding the Merc and the moan in with letters/e-mails/phone calls is the way forward?

If you have have the power then get it done my friend !

Lovejoy Posted 6 December 2008 Posted 6 December 2008 I'm slowly edging towards being one of those, it's a horrible feeling... Oh I've got the accent an' all . Can be quite emabarassing at times in L1 when people listen to me speaking . Btw people if you hear a southern sounding geeza (not quite cockney yet ) about row HH SEAT 290 it's yours truly! EDIT: If you make me an Admin, I'll get all my suv'na mates to join as well, as their all part-time Citeh fans anyway !
Asha Posted 6 December 2008 Posted 6 December 2008 another issue that annoys me is that stupid "football is a family sport" announcement, who ever they got to do it has a really annoying voice, fook that off too It does annoy me. Fcuking embarrasing. I know the whole little kid reading it thing is aimed at the family side...but couldn't they have got Joda to say it instead?
skinnydipper Posted 6 December 2008 Posted 6 December 2008 Cheer the goal, boo the music and when it stops continue to cheer the goal Of course it wouldn't work. There are too many muppets who either genuinely like Dagger or just don't care what is played
leicesterseddon Posted 6 December 2008 Posted 6 December 2008 the worrying thing is that many people don't care these days. i'm not even talking just about football...the whole country has become swathed in this crippling apathy. they may have been troublemakers, but all those people who fought the police in the vietnam and CND protests back in the 60s and 70s actually cared about things. i rememeber last season and that horrible capitulation in the last home game against sheff. wednesday. if that had happened at filbert street even 20 years ago, i'm sure people would have been on the pitch or something. but i remember people just shrugging their shoulders and not even looking that bothered...i even saw some people clapping the players off at the end... this is the problem we are facing. i reckon that most fans, if they sat down and thought about it, don't actually like the goal music. but people just have a real problem with questioning authority. i mean most punk music wasn't very good, but at least it meant something to some people - these days, all bands are just banal products trotted out by music companies...and today's football fanbase reflects this lack of meaning. we've gone from the sex pistols and calling the queen a facist to coldplay and singing about everything being fooking yellow. i hate the goal music because it makes me embarrassed to be a leicester fan, but i would still have far more respect for someone who openly says they want to keep it than these fans who just shrug their shoulders and say 'i don't mind'. remember when we first moved to the walkers and the players came out of the tunnel to the sound of awful american cheerleading music? so many people wrote in and complained that we got it changed back to the PHG within 2 or 3 matches. fans have very little power, but can still change the little things by not sitting on their hands. the club have brought this on the fans and most people have just sat back and accepted it. granted a decent proportion seem to like it, but i the 50% opoinionless sheep in the middle are the real problem.
Phube Posted 6 December 2008 Posted 6 December 2008 RUMOUR ALERT!!!!!!!!! If we score today... we MAY get a RL Goal Horn - With a twist!!! Not Chelsea Dagger!!! They can't be listening... surely!!?
Jay Posted 6 December 2008 Posted 6 December 2008 But let's not count our chickens... it's a good job because it's still used!!
Fosse Boy Posted 6 December 2008 Posted 6 December 2008 I suppose to an extent it's encouraging because it shows that they're listening if they've changed it slightly. But they're only listening very, very selectively. The sound clip seemed shorter too?
