Lovejoy Posted 6 December 2008 Posted 6 December 2008 Onto the predictions anyway lads and lasses:3-0 Citeh, dunno why, but I've got a good feeling about this weekend ! I'm actually too good .
The Bear Posted 6 December 2008 Posted 6 December 2008 Those are the sort of wages he will demand with the amount of goals he's scored. He knows teams like Wolves will offer him at least that. Howard, Clemence, Dj, Oakley the guys we spent money on must be on £15,000 a week each at least.Fryatts probably only on £5,000 a week now, he will want to be on a lot more than them. If he wasn't a greedy bastard he would have signed a new deal by now. Will we balls Our CEO has some sense! Ebanks-Blake is only on £8,250 p/w and he's one of our top end earners. That figure is 100% correct as it was revealed in a recent court case against him. Congrats on the win today. Good to see Davies playing well too.
philce Posted 6 December 2008 Posted 6 December 2008 Pearson used the same word to describe our performance as the one I was thinking of on the way back to my car - professional. Using three in midfield has enabled us to counter the opposition's inclination to swamp that area and today, even during the long period at 1-0 I never thought we looked likely to be threatened. Fryatt might have benefitted from the work of others but he took his goals as only a striker in form can do. He was clinically functional to the point where Southend's centre-back seemed panicky whenever Fryatt was anywhere near him. Once again I'd mention the referee. Surely we should have had a first half penalty for a foul on Howard. Even from the South Stand the incident looked well inside the box although I'll stand correcting by anyone who was closer. And aren't deliberate back passes to the goalkeeper penalised with a free-kick any more, if delivered with the feet? From L1 it was about 2 yards inside the area! The Lino on this side was crap, yes it was a back pass too!
Guest ttfn Posted 6 December 2008 Posted 6 December 2008 There simply should not be a question about whether we offer him a substantial deal. Presumably we won't let him go on a free in the summer so will cash in in January but if we're serious about promotion why would we allow that to happen? Fryatt is worth £10k a week given that that is what we pay Howard, Oakley etc, and Fryatt is dragging us, virtually single handedly at times, out of this division. Furthermore, we'd recoup that £10k in ticket sales alone if we get promoted this season. At £20 a ticket thats only an extra 500 seats we'd need to sell in the champ. Definitely worth every penny. What he's done in the past is irrelevant - we need him from now til the end of the season, and in order to make that happen, realistically he needs to sign a new deal.

Err he wont go for free in the summer I'm sure we'll need to strengthen other positions if we're in the Championship so we'd need more than the extra 500 seats sold How do you know those others are on 10K are you their accountant? That's not to say we should sell in January, but if he wants to go he will eventually will either in January or June.
DB11 Posted 6 December 2008 Posted 6 December 2008 On OS Powell's comment: "Hopefully he will be here with us when we return to the Championship at the end of the season but in the meantime, Matty is just enjoying his football and keeping focused on the job in hand."
ACF Posted 6 December 2008 Posted 6 December 2008 OS Matty Fryatt became the first Leicester City player to score 20 goals before Chrishtmas for 42 years in his side's emphatic 3-0 victory over Southend At the Walkers Stadium on Saturday Afternoon. The last player to achieve the feat was Derek Dougan back in December 1966- but Fryatt's second succesive treble helped re-write the history books
samlcfc Posted 6 December 2008 Posted 6 December 2008 I'm actually too good . A couple of lads sittin behind me had put monies on 3-0. Must of bin a fair bit they won

That's not to say we should sell in January, but if he wants to go he will eventually will either in January or June. 1) I KNOW they're on about 10k each. That's all I'm saying. 2) We'll get sweet FA for him through a tribunal. Look at what happened with Bostock. 3) The 500 seats I'm referring to are to pay for Fryatt. We're not going to sell them and get the opportunity to get more people in if we don't get promoted, and we won't get promoted without Fryatt. We'd have to buy someone else in to replace him, for which we'd be looking at £500k plus, let's say £5k/week. On a three year deal that works out at £1.25m. Give Fryatt a 3 year deal on £10k a week and its a cost of £1.5m. For that 250k, you're buying the loyalty of a fans' favourite, a proven route back into the Championship (judging by the first 4 months of this season) and a statement of intent to the rest of the division, and indeed, our own squad and fans, that we are Leicester City Football Club and we want to get back where we belong, yo-yoing between the top two flights.
Corky Posted 6 December 2008 Posted 6 December 2008 Very enjoyable day. We played very well and Fryatt was immense, his first two goals were excellently-taken, ans a thoroughly deserved standing ovation. We would be committing a footballing suicide if we let him go in January, even if he doesn't sign a new contract. Great to see us passing the ball around, especially from the back, and keeping hold of possession for decent spells. Southend, to their credit, came and attacked but at times looked far too open, giving us too much space to attack in, and we took advantage. Three good points, a comfortable win, still top of the table, very nice

I'll correct you Thrac, the original foul took place outside the box and Howard fell inside it And I agree about the back-passes, it happened on two occasions
davieG Posted 6 December 2008 Posted 6 December 2008 OS Let's hope history doesn't repeat itself - we sold Dougan to Wolves not long after Christmas.
Webbo Posted 6 December 2008 Posted 6 December 2008 I'll correct you Thrac, the original foul took place outside the box and Howard fell inside it And I agree about the back-passes, it happened on two occasions No. you're wrong, Howard had both feet clearly within the box.
Corky Posted 6 December 2008 Posted 6 December 2008 No. you're wrong, Howard had both feet clearly within the box. Was it? Maybe I was too stunned that Howard got a decision to notice properly
Lovejoy Posted 6 December 2008 Posted 6 December 2008 A couple of lads sittin behind me had put monies on 3-0. Must of bin a fair bit they won Yeah a couple behind me were, where do you sit?
Corky Posted 6 December 2008 Posted 6 December 2008 It was and it should. The standard of refereeing in this league is beyond a joke. It's not the first time this season an assistant hasn't known what they are doing. I could do a better job running the line! Did you see when Dyer cleared the ball off one of their players about five yards from him and he was about to give the throw to Southend? And also, when Tunchev chased down a long ball, and he gave offside against a guy about ten yards behind him?

I've just mentioned this as an excuse to look at that table again - especially at Leeds.

Yes. There was also the offside where the player was onside when we played the ball, but was offside when it came off a Southend player, and landed quite nicely.
Corky Posted 6 December 2008 Posted 6 December 2008 Yes. There was also the offside where the player was onside when we played the ball, but was offside when it came off a Southend player, and landed quite nicely. The standard of officiating at this level is quite poor. Today's weren't as bas as we had at Scunthorpe, but still. And obviously this isn't sour grapes, as we've only lost two matches out of 19.
syston_fox Posted 6 December 2008 Posted 6 December 2008 Fourth win on the trot too and six wins from a run of seven successive games unbeaten. And 6 home wins on the trot too in all competitions.... which I think I'm right in saying hasn't been done since the first ever six games at the Walkers Stadium.

You are right, yes. It's actually nice to hear the final whistle, for the right reasons, and look forward to home matches
