Matt Posted 28 December 2008 Posted 28 December 2008 Stoke striker Ricardo Fuller was sent off Sunday for slapping his captain, Andy Griffin, after West Ham equalized on the way to a 2-1 win.As their Stoke teammates tried to restart the match after the goal, the pair became embroiled in a heated exchange near the center circle, which led to referee Michael Jones dismissing Fuller. "There's no condoning what (Fuller's) done," Stoke manager Tony Pulis said. "He's walked up to Griff and clipped him on the chin and it's disappointing. I'll talk to them both and deal with it on Monday. "Ric is a volatile player and a volatile person and what he's done will be dealt with." Rules are rules, You can't raise your hand. Am I right thinking back that Gerry had a fight/argument on the pitch with Elliott or someone when playing for us? I know Gerry had a fight with Wise when they were at Stoke and Millwall, any excuse to show this; http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=nb5Igo2LvNs But i'm not thinking of that anyway.
Joe. Posted 28 December 2008 Posted 28 December 2008 Should make for some comedy viewing on MOTD later.

I wish I could remember which two of our players it was, can anyone else remember who it was that punched each other from our team during a game- it may have been Tags and Savage but I just can't remember? it was post Premiership-relegation I reckon and I don't think it involved Wisey though the nasty little git may have been at the club...... Anybody? N.

filbertway Posted 28 December 2008 Posted 28 December 2008 I remember when taggs grabbed one of our younger players round the throat when he made a mistake ina match one. Jon ashton or someone like that.
Jordan Posted 28 December 2008 Posted 28 December 2008 Hmmmm might have been Tags v Sav, I'm almost certain it involved Tags. Tags and Savage, but if I recall correctly it was in 2000.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 28 December 2008 Posted 28 December 2008 What a tool. Show some respect for your captain you no mark.
Corky Posted 28 December 2008 Posted 28 December 2008 I remember when taggs grabbed one of our younger players round the throat when he made a mistake ina match one. Jon ashton or someone like that. I think it was Martin Reeves in a friendly against a Spanish team. Taggs weren't impressed.

N. Tags and Savage. We had Matt Jones sent off, and drew 0-0 with Arsenal. Peter Taylor's first season in charge.

N. It was Tags and Savage, but I thought it was Liverpool in 1999-2000, And no punches were thrown, there were just a couple of shoves. As for yesterday, it was suggested that Griffin wasn't really fit to play, but refused an offer to be taken off at half time. He then made the mistake which gave the hammers their equaliser. This doesn't in any way excuse what Fuller did to him, but his frustration can at least be understood.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 29 December 2008 Posted 29 December 2008 Fuller should of hit Griffen harder cos that was some poor defending
Anish Posted 30 December 2008 Posted 30 December 2008 I loved Griffin's reaction when Fuller was walking off, giving him the big hand gesture and telling him to 'Get off'. Comical stuff, shows great team spirit!
Samilktray Posted 30 December 2008 Posted 30 December 2008 The more I see of Stoke the more I like them. Them and Wigan are probably my favourite Premiership teams.
Cat Burger Posted 30 December 2008 Posted 30 December 2008 I can't remember which game but can I recall Paddy McCarthy grabbing Stearman round the throat or something. People went mad at Paddy cos he was having an awful game himself. What a joke we were.
Edmund Posted 30 December 2008 Posted 30 December 2008 Personally I like to see this sort of stuff. shows commitment and that they are trying hard but yes a slap is way over the top. Nothing wrong with a bolocking for not trying etc
Tevez Posted 30 December 2008 Posted 30 December 2008 Thank fook Stoke are crumbling! They'll be relegated and we'll do them at the Brittania and I will run on the pitch, ok the last bit was a joke. A.D Faye is the only person to come out with a bit of credit!
Father Ted Posted 30 December 2008 Posted 30 December 2008 How Andy Griffin is even at a club in the Premiership is beyond me, never mind captaining one!
Alexikokopops Posted 30 December 2008 Posted 30 December 2008 How Andy Griffin is even at a club in the Premiership is beyond me, never mind captaining one! The man's a silver fox, he can achieve anything.
lildave3 Posted 30 December 2008 Posted 30 December 2008 The man's a silver fox, he can achieve anything. Ahhh, but can he climb upon a unicorn?
Samilktray Posted 31 December 2008 Posted 31 December 2008 Making a big deal over something petty now.

Millwall at home on boxing day (2006?).
Matt Posted 31 December 2008 Author Posted 31 December 2008 Making a big deal over something petty now. They are making a big deal over something petty about the referee's U-Turn of the penalty decision last night in the Villa game, Sky Sports News asking was the referee right make the U-Turn? Yes, of course he was fooking right, It was even a handball = No penalty. I'd be annoying at the time if I was a Hull fan but looking at the replays you can see clearly it hit the bar, I'm for actually going to praise a referee for having the balls to make a decision and change his mind despite originally giving the decision. (I know this has nothing to do with this thread but they are making a big deal over something petty on that subject)

The ref was so quick to blow the whistle and give the penalty. He then when to the lino who made the correct decision. I thought the ref ruined the game a bit last night.
DB11 Posted 31 December 2008 Posted 31 December 2008 Steve Bennett had a mare last night. The more I see of Stoke the more I like them.Them and Wigan are probably my favourite Premiership teams.
