Big Bad Fox Posted 29 December 2008 Posted 29 December 2008 walking past morrisons on the way home yesterday a bunch of lads behind me, and a few of my mates started chanting various different racially abusive things.. such as "This is England.. so fook off " ... making silly comments about the security guard ( at morrisions) skin colour. another, was "This town is full of pakis, im sick of it" and "never seen so many fooking gorillas at a football match" it carried on like this for a while, until they turned off into an alleyway whether they were Hereford or Leicester fans, i am unsure, and i also dont know who they directed them at, but one of the things i love about Leicester, and Leicester city football club is the diversity, and racial equality.. and being asian myself, and never hearing anything like this at a leicester match before, it disturbed me....

Whoever they were they are not worth a second thought, one of the many reasons I'm proud to be a Leicester fan is our anti racism culture, those sort of idiots are not football supporters just cowardly thugs who think they are being big...it's pathetic and you must not be put off supporting our great team!
turkish14 Posted 29 December 2008 Posted 29 December 2008 The scum shouting this kind of abuse have brains the size of peanuts, not very educated and hang around in gangs thinking there hard men. They probably (if they are city fans) have neighbours/friends/colleauges of asian/afro carribean desent.
Big Bad Fox Posted 29 December 2008 Author Posted 29 December 2008 why didnt they have the balls to say it to an asian/afro carribean mans face, instead of chanting it behind my back..

This is going to sound very negative but as long as leicester is ethnically diverse as it is there will always be racism at the football. what may seem normal to us will be different to say e.g. plymouth fans who have a very small asian community. It stinks but you just need to thicken your skin and ignore it until these people are educated. Different debate but I think leicester is one big lie in terms of its diversity. yes we all live in the same city but its not as rosy as they make it out to be. Leicester has to be one of the most segregated citys. When I came to college in Leicester I was shocked, it was literally a divide in the canteen between asian and non asian. Multicultral my arse, its just different nationalitys segregated in there own areas. Melton Road?!?! Anyway yeah it is a shame to see and all these silly anti racism campaigns are going to do fook all, until people are educated it will always be in our society.
Alexikokopops Posted 29 December 2008 Posted 29 December 2008 no offence but they cant be good mates? I think he means the scummers were walking behind him and his mates, not that his mates were involved in the chanting
Edmund Posted 29 December 2008 Posted 29 December 2008 I think he means the scummers were walking behind him and his mates, not that his mates were involved in the chanting ok was thinking it was a bit odd, but i can see it's just how it's typed.
morris1234 Posted 29 December 2008 Posted 29 December 2008 that sounds nasty mate! if you think about it everybody started out a racist, even i did tbh but i was very very wrong. i did not change my view because being racist was frowned upon i changed it because i realised it was wrong. some of my best mates are asian and i even played for a football team known for its asian tradition. what annoys me is these ignorant people and especially asian or foreign people who use it as an advantage! they want equality when it suits them but they are quick to use the racist card and think they are above everybody else! look what youve done , youve got me started!

purpleronnie Posted 29 December 2008 Posted 29 December 2008 You get morons everywhere. How anyone can be that way is beyond me, lack of education I guess.

That's total bollox ..I lived in the West End for 20 years..in that time I had so many neighbours...some total tossers and some abolute cnuts!...but although they were all multicultural I never ever judged them on their race/religion/creed but simpley on how they behaved within our local community..and I'm sure that's how most true Leicester inhabitants judge each other!
Thracian Posted 29 December 2008 Posted 29 December 2008 walking past morrisons on the way home yesterday a bunch of lads behind me, and a few of my matesstarted chanting various different racially abusive things.. such as "This is England.. so fook off " ... making silly comments about the security guard ( at morrisions) skin colour. another, was "This town is full of pakis, im sick of it" and "never seen so many fooking gorillas at a football match" it carried on like this for a while, until they turned off into an alleyway whether they were Hereford or Leicester fans, i am unsure, and i also dont know who they directed them at, but one of the things i love about Leicester, and Leicester city football club is the diversity, and racial equality.. and being asian myself, and never hearing anything like this at a leicester match before, it disturbed me.... Despite 'Keep Racism Out of Football' campaigns, what you experienced is a growing sign of the times, sadly. And perhaps more so when the fans are from places where racial integration is less a part of everyday life than here in the Midlands. After weeks of similar statistics. I've just heard news that another 600,000 people are likely to be made redundant shortly while our open-all-hours immigration policy continues unchecked ensuring that the sometimes demonstrably unfair competition for any available jobs becomes inevitably fiercer. The chanting you mentioned was clearly racist, abusive, grossly offensive and fundamentally indefensible. But beyond the political bullshit there's a real world out there. And while you might be disturbed by a bit of chanting think how disturbing the following would have been to a white guy who's lived and worked here all his life and was just about to lose his job. And then think about those chants. Because any white people among the 600,000 to be made redundant will have a lot more trouble getting jobs than those from ethnic minorities. ttp://www.thaindian.com/newsportal/india-news/whites-to-lose-jobs-to-ethnic-minorities-women-under-new-uk-law_10064704.html Even a high ranking black representative of the Campaign for Racial Equality has acknowledged his concerns about the growing resentment among native whites who are unable to find work. And, as if just finding a new job isn't hard enough, they have to face the frustrations of the dice being deliberately loaded against them in their quest to win work. They are mocked in other ways too. A few months back I mentioned the Pakistani slogan posted on a bridge in Cobridge Stoke-on-Trent which read: "You've got your flag but we've got your country". With that comment in mind I wonder how you would react if you were told you wouldn't be shortlisted for a job because you were Asian and only whites were being considered, or only West Indians. Would you not be pissed off? I am white English but I'd would be appalled on your behalf if anyone I knew treated you that way. The chanting was moronic and thoroughly disrespectful but it also reflected the resentment I've mentioned which is growing by the day - despite all the pretence of harmony and, to some extent, and among some people the reality of harmony, certainly where I work I'm very pleased to say. That resentment needs to be neutered in the only way possible, by this Government stopping treating white people, and others who have long contributed to the system in taxes/compulsory contributions, like shit. Why? Because if long term contributors to this country - and that includes a whole lot of long-standing coloured immigrants - continue to be treated that way it is inevitable that some of them will react like arseholes. Unfortunately, as with alcoholics, there is no way the government will do anything to calm the resentment until they recognise that there's a problem and they've never been strong in that direction especially where their dogmatic idealism and social engineeering is concerned. Hell, while the country limps along like a crippled mockery of the thriving nation it once was, the Government and its hard core support don't seem to admit seeing much of a problem with anything they do never mind something they clearly don't want to acknowledge anyway. They know the problem is there of course, as they demonstrate with various actions designed to keep the BNP in check. Yet keeping the BNP from thriving wouldn't ever have been necessary if the Government started treating people fairly and started making proper provision for the future welfare of it's existing population before adding to the problems by allowing more in to put even greater pressures on the creaking system.
City Fan Posted 29 December 2008 Posted 29 December 2008 Do you go to Q.E? I did and couldn't believe how racially segregated the canteen was - it seemed like the outside bit was for the white people and the inside bit for the Asians. I hardly ever went to the canteen because I felt sort of uncomfortable in both areas.
bluebeau Posted 29 December 2008 Posted 29 December 2008 That's total bollox ..I lived in the West End for 20 years..in that time I had so many neighbours...some total tossers and some abolute cnuts!...but although they were all multicultural I never ever judged them on their race/religion/creed but simpley on how they behaved within our local community..and I'm sure that's how most true Leicester inhabitants judge each other! I don't totally disagree with what you say, but I strongly agree with Foxyarmy. e.g. Hamilton estate, Highfields, Melton Road/Belgrave. Thank God we don't seem to have a serious racial problem in our County/City, but there is a lot of 'spin' regarding this multiracial harmony that we are supposed to enjoy, because it's not true unfortunately. The Afro & Asian Hindu communities do mix & blend in with the whites, but speaking through experience I can tell you the Asian Muslims do not mix with anyone apart from their own kind. I had a business in Leicester for 17years & Hindu folk were good customers, also Afro no prob. but Muslims NO CHANCE. As soon as they realised the business wasn't Muslim, they walked out! You can make a good friend of a Hindu or Afro, but I don't give you much chance with a Asian Muslim. Back to football, I have been going to watch City for many years & I am very glad to say that I have never seen any racial problem. Just before we left Filbert Street, a guy sat in front of us shouted at a player from the opposition, " You black B-s--rd etc etc", we around him reported him to a steward & he was removed from the stadium. The folk will not put up with racist abuse in our stadium. By the way, my wife is Afro/Asian. Sorry but I had to get that off my chest!! Up the City!!
AoWW Posted 30 December 2008 Posted 30 December 2008 why didnt they have the balls to say it to an asian/afro carribean mans face, instead of chanting it behind my back.. You've answered your own question there, really. As someone else said, they're quite happy to play 'hard' when they're in their 'gang'. Don't give it a second thought - they really aren't worth it.

Chairman of the Bored Posted 30 December 2008 Posted 30 December 2008 Could someone provide me with a sociological definition of "multi-cultural"? The term is irrelevant in my view. Leicester is "multi-ethnic", culture is another matter entirely.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 30 December 2008 Posted 30 December 2008 Could someone provide me with a sociological definition of "multi-cultural"? The term is irrelevant in my view. Leicester is "multi-ethnic", culture is another matter entirely. Dahi, or Thayir, is a yoghurt of the Indian subcontinent, known for its characteristic taste and consistency. The word, Dahi, seems to be derived from Sanskrit word Dhadhi. Dhadhi is one of the five elixirs (Panchamruth) -- namely yogurt, milk, honey, ghee (clarified butter), and sugar cane juice -- which are often used in Hindu rituals. Labneh is a strained yoghurt used for sandwiches popular in Arab countries. Olive oil, cucumber slices, olives, and various green herbs may be added. It can be thickened further and rolled into balls, preserved in olive oil, and fermented for a few more weeks. It is sometimes used with onions, meat, and nuts as a stuffing for a variety of pies or Kebbeh balls. Tarator and Cacık are popular cold soups made from yoghurt, popular during summertime in Bulgaria, Republic of Macedonia, and Turkey. They are made with Ayran, cucumbers, dill, salt, olive oil, and optionally garlic and ground walnuts. Zabady is the yoghurt made in Egypt. It is essentially famous in Ramadan fasting as it is thought to prevent feeling thirst during fasting all day long. to name but a few!
Dr The Singh Posted 30 December 2008 Posted 30 December 2008 I think people need to be abit honest, racism is a part of ignorance and hence part of the human psychi. Although I beleive majority are more 'preferentialist' then racist. I've said before I have been subject to more racist abuse from our own fans then the away fans!!! Leicester is segregated in many ways, i'm just glad I wasn't brought up in belgrave, highfields et al and brought up in 'west end'. But is that 'preferentialism' or due to racist elements?? Even though Leicester is for more congile then many other cities!! Thracian, losing your job etc is no excuse for ignorant behaviour and no it isnt understandable. I was watched a programm a few mnths ago which found that a person of 'white descent' with a white name was more likely to get a interview then one of an ethnic. The fact that we are all in the same boat during this crisis does not give one group more pain then another!!!
