davieG Posted 16 January 2009 Share Posted 16 January 2009 Leicester City have today completed the capture of Manchester United midfielder Tom Cleverley on loan until the end of the season. The 19-year-old, who can also play in defence, has been a mainstay in the United reserve team since graduating from their under-18 side. His perfoamnces for the Reds second string last term earned him a nomination for the Reserve Team Player of the Year award, and he was also called up to Sir Alex Ferguson's first team squad for their pre-season tour of South Africa this term. StanSP Posted 16 January 2009 Share Posted 16 January 2009 Well, that thread about the new loan signing was correct (I saw the first post and thought it was a wind-up) Anyone seen him play? Bit risky by NP to go for youth cover for Hobbs/Morrison.

Edmund Posted 16 January 2009 Share Posted 16 January 2009 Good signing, looks like bigger clubs see us a good base for players to get valuable experience. Im surprised junior ferguson doesn't sign/loan players from man utd?

Trav Le Bleu Posted 16 January 2009 Share Posted 16 January 2009 I think it shows how high other managers regard Pearson... it's not easy to get these players from big clubs!! Yeah, they don't want their player getting in the habit of playing hoofball, which we don't (at long last!) I find myself wondering where NP will play him, we're sound in Midfield (at least until Davies leaves - hopefully not soon), so is he defensive cover? BedsFox Posted 16 January 2009 Share Posted 16 January 2009 Googled from a ManU Forum "What do you make of him? I'm guessing that almost everyone on here will have seen his strike with the first team in pre-season in the Vodcom final. But he's motoring along with the reserves and really sticking his neck out for Fergie to come a calling IMO. He's their leading scorer at this moment and has scored a few beauties so far this season, including an a la Scholes volley from a corner against City a few weeks back. He's one of the main reasons the reserves are doing as well as they are, and if he keeps up his form I'm sure he'll be given his chance one way or another!"
