Oldham Pre-Match thingamebob, whatsamacallit.

League One leaders Leicester have no fresh injury or suspension problems after the midweek defeat of Walsall.

Bruno Berner (calf) passed a late fitness test to make the bench against the Saddlers and will hope to push Joe Mattock for the left-back spot.

Oldham's Lee Hughes is struggling (Achilles), as fellow strikers Lewis Alessandra, Andy Liddell and on-loan Dean Windass are all vying for a start.

Loan signing Daniel Jones is out (knee) but Wales' Neil Eardley should return.

OLDHAM MERIT RESPECT

Oldham head to the Walkers Stadium on Saturday for what many would consider to be a thankless task: an away game against runaway leaders Leicester in front of the television cameras.

Indeed, most clubs would probably approach such a fixture as an exercise in damage limitation, by setting their stall out to avoid too much embarrassment.

With a bit of luck, a slender defeat could be offset by a few compliments being passed in the studio and the team could move on to the next challenge feeling rather good about themselves.

However, Oldham are one of the few teams at this level who would genuinely approach a game like this with relish.

Under John Sheridan, the Latics have developed a reputation for rising to the occasion in big games and producing their best displays against the top teams.

It is trait that has seen them win away at Elland Road two seasons running and write the biggest headlines in last season's FA Cup third round with a 1-0 triumph over Everton at Goodison.

MK Dons, S****horpe and Millwall have all been soundly beaten by Oldham already this season, while the Lancashire club still remain one of the few teams to have been comfortable when coming up against Leicester following the 1-1 draw at Boundary Park back in October.

All of which seems to be shaping this preview up for a shot-to-nothing on the away win at odds of 5/1 but, in truth, the Foxes don't deserve to be opposed even at that price, even with all the information to support Oldham giving it a good go.

Nigel Pearson's men are simply too strong and too streetwise to warrant any excitement about taking them on.

Whatever the Latics throw at them, you can't help feeling they will be prepared.

So what we need is to find some kind of middle ground, something that pays due respect to both sides, something that might still allow us to collect even if our decision to overlook the big price proves to be mistake.

And that middle ground is a bet on under two goals at 11/4 with Hills because all of Oldham's success in these big matches has been built on clean sheets and one suspects they will have to keep things extremely tight to stand any chance of taking something from this encounter.

Should such a scenario present itself, you can rest assured Leicester won't be short of patience as goalless draws with the lowly likes of Northampton and Brighton testify.

Indeed, it should be pointed out that this bet would have landed in eight of the Foxes' 20 home matches in all competitions so far this season.
