lildave3 Posted 25 November 2009 Posted 25 November 2009 I do too, I want FB pictures of you smoking Turk weed and waving your Semih about in the away end.
Edmund Posted 25 November 2009 Posted 25 November 2009 To be fair, it would suit Benitez's tactical side of his management How will that make any difference? Liverpool aren't the same side they were years ago. They have proved that although still a good team at this current time they are not in the world class bracket. Reliant on two players, and Benitez says they will finish in the top four which I think wont be as easy as he thinks. I genuinely think that Tottenham possess a better squad than Liverpool at this current time and if they can become more consistent, bye bye Champions League next year.

I have not even mentioned the league, I've mentioned the Europa League. Liverpool have never been brilliant in the group stages of the Champions League but normally Benitez's tactician skills give them a good run in the two-legged situation which is what the Europa League will be when they enter. Tbh, bar Alonso....the side hasn't changed a massive amount from their decent runs.
Uncle Albert Posted 25 November 2009 Author Posted 25 November 2009 has Albert ever been to Liverpool? Yes thank you, quite often actually. Fenerbache are the only team to pose a threat.
CosbehFox Posted 25 November 2009 Posted 25 November 2009 Cardiff knows his shit. Thank you, Todd and a fellow World Soccer reader. Whilst you are there, give me some South American midfielders to cream over.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 25 November 2009 Posted 25 November 2009 Thank you, Todd and a fellow World Soccer reader. Whilst you are there, give me some South American midfielders to cream over. I didn't know Lulinha had gone to a Second Division team in Portugal. He was always going to be the next big thing.
CosbehFox Posted 25 November 2009 Posted 25 November 2009 I didn't know Lulinha had gone to a Second Division team in Portugal. He was always going to be the next big thing. He's on loan, you don't reckon someone's trying to get him a work permit do ya?
Uncle Albert Posted 25 November 2009 Author Posted 25 November 2009 Well said Cardiff, Liverpool have got rid of two players from last years eleven who finished second in the league with the highest amount of points in any League in the world to finish second and not win the League, them players are Arbeloa and Alonso and they have brought in Johnson and Aquilani as their replacements, not shabby at all. You cant just blame it all on injuries but if Rafa had signed a few better players then Liverpool wouldnt be in as much trouble but I think this Champs League exit will be a blessing in disguise, focus on reaching the Champs League next season and hopefully have a good Europa League run. I think this will turn Liverpool's season around for the better, United finished bottom of the group 4 or 5 years ago and they went on to finish 2nd in the League, sometimes its a good thing, less games and more chance to rest key players such as Gerrard and Torres. Think when Liverpool get Aquilani, Torres and Gerrard 100% then the season will turn straight around.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 25 November 2009 Posted 25 November 2009 He's on loan, you don't reckon someone's trying to get him a work permit do ya? Sneaky. Although if he doesn't set the world alight there, something must've gone hideously wrong.
StanSP Posted 25 November 2009 Posted 25 November 2009 Sneaky.Although if he doesn't set the world alight there, something must've gone hideously wrong. Freddy Adu MkII, no?
Edmund Posted 25 November 2009 Posted 25 November 2009 I have not even mentioned the league, I've mentioned the Europa League. Tbh, bar Alonso....the side hasn't changed a massive amount from their decent runs. True but during those times (decent runs) they had a fully fit Torres and Gerrard for the best part of which they haven't this time around which shows they are heavily reliant on the pair and don't have like for like replacements. Alonso is a huge miss to the team and okay they have a good replacement in Aquilani but he has hardly played so far and is still to prove that he can fill Alonso's boots. It's all good having a good replacement but if he's not fit what use is he. Not to forget players aging i.e Carragher. In my opinion Liverpool are currently in decline. For whatever reason other players aren't as motivated as they were last season (Mascherano), players have been mis managed (Babel). The point I'm making is I wouldn't be so certain Liverpool are going to cruise through the Europa league as some might suggest. They have a great manager in Benitez but at the end of the day the players are the ones that make the difference and at this moment in time things aren't clicking into place as comfortably as they should be. I think this will turn Liverpool's season around for the better, United finished bottom of the group 4 or 5 years ago and they went on to finish 2nd in the League, sometimes its a good thing, less games and more chance to rest key players such as Gerrard and Torres. Fair point and it could prove to be a blessing in disguise. Not only will it lift pressure off the players, you would hope the players as professionals should react well and deliver. Don't get me wrong I'm a fan of Benitez and would love Liverpool to clinch the title especially over Man Utd but I just personally think they are lacking that extra edge/class at this moment in time.
StanSP Posted 25 November 2009 Posted 25 November 2009 Harsh. Not intentional. Just that Freddy Adu was hyped up to be a world superstar and he's kind of gone off the radar now. Whether it's due to the media hyping him up so much or he has peaked way too early only he knows. But he has time on his side to pick himself up. Maybe even for USA next summer.
Edmund Posted 25 November 2009 Posted 25 November 2009 I would also like to redirect all Liverpool fans and Liverpool related chat to here  http://www.foxestalk.co.uk/forums/index.ph...5&hl=europa
Father Ted Posted 25 November 2009 Posted 25 November 2009 Winning the Europa League isnt a bad thing for us, then we can have won the most UEFA Cups than anyone in England and European Cups. Always a silver lining. What the hell are you on about? I don't care about whether 'you' will have won more Uefa cups than anybody else. That really shows the attitude of Liverpool fans, it's as if you've already won it. Well, you'll have to get past the likes of Fulham, can you just remind me of the score against them??
lildave3 Posted 25 November 2009 Posted 25 November 2009 Albert, forget about Liverpool and rejoice that Ronaldo is back.
dandannieldanok Posted 25 November 2009 Posted 25 November 2009 Macheda is getting completely shown up at this level, as have quite a few of the United players.
Mikey Posted 25 November 2009 Posted 25 November 2009 Macheda is getting completely shown up at this level, as have quite a few of the United players. Only Macheda has been shown up IMO. The rest have been ok.
lildave3 Posted 25 November 2009 Posted 25 November 2009 Two brilliant saves from Rustu. Following on from Saturday. <_< Don't quite feel so bad about Fener losing 3-0 to them now
dandannieldanok Posted 25 November 2009 Posted 25 November 2009 Referee's been told to play until United score, only at Old Trafford do you get this much stoppage time.
Bert Posted 25 November 2009 Posted 25 November 2009 Rustu was the only reason they didn't get beat tonight. You can see why he was so highly rated in previous years. Obertan looks an exciting prospect.
StanSP Posted 25 November 2009 Posted 25 November 2009 Referee's been told to play until United score, only at Old Trafford do you get this much stoppage time. It ended 1-0 Liverpool beat Besiktas 8-0 a couple of seasons ago . My how times have changed!
