I hope all you miserable negative fuckers who thought it would be brilliant to shout abuse at anybody and everybody from about 50 minutes onwards ejoyed hearing the roar from our end after you'd left 5 minutes early. Seriously though, we were terrible today and far from deserved anything from the match. I hate to say it, but Dons are a good footballing side, and they will get promoted this season. Aside from the opening 5 minutes we were second best throughout in every department, and I'm still left wondering how we actualyl got anything from the game. Anwyay, what a brilliant moment at the end there, could relive that again and again. It's a precious point on the way to promotion and we should be thankful we got anything after today's showing.

In football you will find what you deserve doesn't actually mean anything, unless you stick the ball in the net. DDD saying we were very very very very lucky, erm did you not see "your" second goal or were you to busy checking the Arsenal/United scores on your phone? Atmosphere - When we sung we were loud. Problem was we hardly sung at all. Give me 400 fans at Burnley on a tuesday night anyday. Until Gradel popped up to send the freekick home it was one of my worst aways I have ever been to in terms of atmosphere - AWFUL.
Asha Posted 28 February 2009 Posted 28 February 2009 I knew the atmosphere wasn't going to be special before the game, but my god...I had no idea it would be that bad. Being on Row U, I hoped that would be high enough to consider standing. I was one of a few in Aisle 33 that tried to make an effort and stand and sing, but it just failed. I was told on numerous occassions to sit down or leave, and at half time I was seriously considering the latter. I didn't think we were particularly brilliant, but in a game of this nature I'm ****ing delighted with a point. It was really frustrating how everyone was moaning everytime we lost the ball. I'm pretty sure most of these twats had left by the time Gradel scored. That goal was incredible. Crazy celebrations with about the only other person within around 50m of me that had tried to stand/sing at any point during the game. But still, we didn't play well yet we've kept our 12 point lead. We're going up.
breadandcheese Posted 28 February 2009 Posted 28 February 2009 MK Dons deserved it today. They should have won, but who cares. We got an important point and are now virtually promoted as champions. One thing, Pearson really needs to think about his substitutions. When he took off Dyer for Cleverly, the first thing I said was we now had no pace and no ball winner in the centre of park (seeing as Bruno had moved to left-back and Oakley moved inside). Straight away, MK Dons pass right through us and take the lead. We then struggled to break them down with no pace at all. Well done to Maxi. Good to see him get a chance because he desperately needs the games and more than that probably deserves them.

I thought Fryatt had a good first half, Oakley started well, Howard was ok a times, shit at others. We never even looked like equalising, Gradel finally shows us what he can do, this could be the kick-start to his Leicester career. Very lucky, but thats what Champions are like sometimes

In the end, we've gotten a deserved and justified draw. MK Dons were no pushover, we knew that. I mean, which home team wouldn't do anything in their power to stop the league leaders on their own turf, in front of mostly local fans? However, to me, the few Franchise fans' comments in this thread suggest a bit of post-match bitterness. Yes, you could've won. But you didn't. Lucky second goal for the opposition, so our equalizer would fit in the same category, don't you MK Dons fellas agree? I can't exactly remember how much we've spent on our current team, but we haven't really bought a lot of new players. The more expensive ones still stem from our atrocious last season in the Championship. Therefore, implying that our success is only bound to money is ridiculous, because not true. We've got player quality and a deep roster, even the young ones have shown a lot of promise so far - not just Gradel with the equalizer today. Seeing that the club made an awful loss last season, it was a wise decision not to go on a spending spree in off-season, but to bring in quality players on loan, no matter for how long. And Pearson has made the best of it and created a unit, a team that battles for the points, no matter how "weak" or "hard" the opposition seems to be on paper, no matter whom we got on loan and for how long. There's a new-found sense of teamwork and fighting spirit, something we've been lacking for so many seasons, I'd make a guess and say in the past five to ten years we haven't had such a commitment and working rate. What MK Dons fans are probably more upset about is the fact that they weren't able to get further away from the playoff places, hence the general sulking. They're facing a lot more pressure in the last fourth of the season, trying to hold off the likes of Peterborough, Oldham, Millwall or Sc'unthorpe - and even Leeds is back on track. For us, relief rules after today's game. For the Franchise lot, it's fear and a slight slice of panic. While we're more or less facing promotion, they could very well be thrown out of that race in the upcoming few weeks. However, I appreciate what Di Matteo has built up with the players at his disposition. He's from the region I come from and I hold him in high esteem. Automatically promoted you might get, but even if that's not going to happen, you can be proud of how far you've come since being created as a plastic club...

Exactly. We were poor for 90 minutes (we only played the first 5 and last 2 of stoppage time) and MK Dons were by far the better team. They controlled the game and created a lot of chances and really should've won. We robbed them - but at least we battled until the end and Gradel made a hero of himself. Today's performance clearly shows that there is a lot of work to be done over the summer if we're going to compete in the Championship next season. Oh, and that MK Dons no. 16 (Puncheon) was outstanding - best player on the pitch by a country mile.

We can play poorly, against the best in the division, away from home and STILL not lose! It does show there's much work left to be done. Some bolstering here and there for the rest of the season and then LOTS of work in the close season before the big jump to the Championship!

Hitesh Posted 28 February 2009 Posted 28 February 2009 I have never felt so happy after a draw before (well in recent years anyway - Hignett V Arsenal and Boro '97 Final comes to mind for others). I was watching SSN and waiting for the result to come through and the moment Stelling said there had been a goal at MK Dons, I knew it was for us at went crazy! It's as good as a win IMO and even more so by the sounds of it in that we were out passed most of the game. The unbeaten run continues which will give us more confidence than the draw will for MK.

Ticket was on row Z - how come I always get one of the cherished back row tickets when I don't even want one? We were pretty crap today - the players looked tired as much as anything.

Chaotic and truely magical end to one if the worst footballing experiences of my life. I'd like to think that all married male city fans are on here or out at the moment whilst Maxi dips one in. Oh and to the bloke in the tigers coat who left on the 90 moaning to his chums.... lol lol and please dont follow us away from home in future.

Very lucky, but thats what Champions are like sometimes That number 16 is Puncheon and he's outstanding. He was part of the Dons when they first arrived, but someone made the bright decision to let him go and he immediately did well for Barnet and is currently on his second loan spell with us this season from Plymouth, I think until the end of the season.

Yes we were lucky to a degree but it has nothing to do with the amount of injury time added. Lucky, lucky, Leicester. Milton Keynes Dons come from behind to deservedly lead the game - and look set for the win - when an inordinate amount of injury time allows the Foxes to grab a last gasp equaliser... Milton Keynes Dons can leave their top of the table clash with Leicester City mightily proud of their efforts and performance, but undoubtedly disappointed not to have won this game, after a shocking five minutes of injury time being permitted by referee Andy Penn. Ultimately, that allotment of time - completely unecessary and disproportionate to the match - has cost the Dons' valiant efforts all the points and left a sour taste in the mouth on a match that should really have claimed a maximum three points, opposed to the one that Di Matteo's side have gained.
