Thracian Posted 15 March 2009 Posted 15 March 2009 The ice-cream van was amusing, in the context. Unfortunately I could have seen those thugs smashing that up Not if my wife's nephew Alex had been around (first coach, streamlined Jobber build). He'd have picked it up, held it above their heads and not let em reach it.
Thracian Posted 15 March 2009 Posted 15 March 2009 I bet the police were creaming themselves at the thought of getting stuck in At least the Police had access to some spare cones!
Corky Posted 15 March 2009 Posted 15 March 2009 Why did Dennis Wise ever leave that beautiful () club? They were a match made in heaven, perfect for each other. "Dennis Wise, what a willy puller" got an airing.
Corky Posted 15 March 2009 Posted 15 March 2009 I bet the police were creaming themselves at the thought of getting stuck in There did seem to be hundreds and thousands of them, so quite possibly
James. Posted 15 March 2009 Posted 15 March 2009 It's so quietIt's so quiet It's so quiet - at the Den It's so quiet It's so quiet It's so quiet - at the Den They were all probably so up for a ruck because we took the piss out of them from start to finish. We outwitted them, outsang them, dismissed them, beat them and went on our way. Saw Tommeh's comment earlier and yeah it was exciting but if every ground was like that we wouldn't have a game to watch. WE'LL NEVER PLAY YOU AGAIN.

Ross-Kemp Posted 15 March 2009 Posted 15 March 2009 Outstanding result. King's recovery helped as did reverting to a more balanced line-up because, suddenly, we had passing opportunities again and Pearson had clearly made his feelings known after Tranmere because our team turned up and competed.Yes we resorted to cynical, time-wasting professionalism in the last 15 minutes. But for over an hour we carved by far the best and most chances and produced some positive football in challenging circumstances. We didn't run riot but we might well have had four or five goals because we carved excellent openings for Cleverley and Fryatt, Dyer might have had a penalty, Howard scored and Kingy also threatened on two or three occasions. Millwall were largely subdued. They did get some crosses in but only had three real chances, a free header that should have been finished off instead of being directed way over the bar and a couple of angled shots but otherwise City won most things in the air and covered so well that they rarely put four passes together and as Lions their claws looked either well worn or totally retracted. Some sort of finale might have been expected from Millwall during the last quarter but City's spoiling tactics simply didn't allow it to materialise. Yes it was horrible to watch but Millwall barely raised a whimper so the tactics of that closing period worked admirably. Pearson showed his delight withan uppercut punch of the air in front of the City faithful who themselves deserve credit for mostly eclipsing what was an increasingly wound-up Millwall contingent on the right. I'd doubt the coins they threw were more than pennies, reflecting the altogether depressing environment of an area which made even the worst parts of Braunstone look like a tourist destination. Two pubs on the way to the ground were boarded up, the high-rise housing blocks stood like a concrete representations of forlorn hope and then there was the club's idea of visitor hospitality, it's very own Guantanamo complete with sliding metal gate. We were penned in for the mild torture of standing on concrete for 40 minutes, a torture not so much physical as mental as it really reflected the fact that our authorities would rather pen people in like animals than properly deal with the arseholes who ruin football for the vast majority. I'd love to know how much today's game cost to police. The cavalry were literally out in force, so too the foot soldiers (Regular police, Railway Police and Stewards) and, looking down from the station to the townscape below it was rather like seeing a miniature army strategically assembled for battle. Would it be an exaggeration to suggest that 300 police were involved in the ground, outside the ground and at the stations and on the trains? Well deserved win though and a memorable day out for reasons that were both good and bad. Whats wrong with Braunstone <_<
Staf Posted 15 March 2009 Posted 15 March 2009 I thought Leicester deserved the win and so glad we held on to silence that nuch of arseholes in the corner. I thought King had a good game and Oakley seemed really up for it today! As for the Millwall fans absoulute bunch of cocks, all game and before and after they were so clearly just looking for a fight. Leicester out sang them and we completely killed millllllllllllllllllllllllllll so much that they stopped doing it
Bert Posted 15 March 2009 Posted 15 March 2009 Whats wrong with Braunstone <_< It's hardly Mayfair is it?
Tilley Posted 15 March 2009 Posted 15 March 2009 You (if it was you) seemed to be everywhere yesterday I just couldn't get rid of you, could I!?
Katy Posted 15 March 2009 Posted 15 March 2009 Gloooooooooove puppet theatre!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No. No we didn't. All we wanted was a pint but Alex took us on his personal tour of the London Underground network instead. What a crap son he has turned out to be. Your crap son is poorly so have some compassion, but yeah it was a bit of a tour wasn't it. Fantastic day, fantastic result. Shit Police, shit millwall 'fans', shit steward who stood in the way of the goal all game. The amount of shots I comsumed pre and post match was ridiculous.
Simi Posted 15 March 2009 Posted 15 March 2009 For anyone that stayed in the ground for a bit afterwards, Barry Hayles loved us singing "Team of Barry Hayles" to him as he warmed down.
SussexFox Posted 15 March 2009 Posted 15 March 2009 Took the picture from behind enemy lines shows the Leicester end just after half time
Corky Posted 15 March 2009 Posted 15 March 2009 I just couldn't get rid of you, could I!? Ah so it was you. On the train before the match, near each other on the walkway back, and even to the Tube
Lillehamring Posted 15 March 2009 Posted 15 March 2009 It's hardly Mayfair is it? plenty of brothels in mayfair... allegedly
smokey Posted 15 March 2009 Posted 15 March 2009 Your crap son is poorly so have some compassion, but yeah it was a bit of a tour wasn't it. Fantastic day, fantastic result. Must admit that steward was getting on my nerves too! Great day though, just Police got on my nerves!
Simi Posted 15 March 2009 Posted 15 March 2009 Had no problems with the stewards. Stood on the left hand side first half, that was shit so moved over to the right and stood in the aisle on my own near the top. No bother.
Ultra Posted 15 March 2009 Posted 15 March 2009 Still getting my head around yesterday's events. 1) The discovery that Spoons dispense pints of quite drinkable ale, even in the heart of the capital city, for as little as FORTY-NINE pence a pint. 2) Getting to my host's local in Tulse Hill for a nightcap, and discovering there was a lock-in until 2 am... 3) Seeing and hearing City perform with distinction at the den both on and off the pitch. Sadly, I also have to report that Millwall morons were still roaming around London Bridge station hours after the game has finished. Other than throwing this vermin-ridden club out of the league, I don't know what can be done about them.

Sods Posted 15 March 2009 Posted 15 March 2009 Lots of Millwall looking for it after the game especially at London Bridge. Spoke to a copper and he said that their had been an incident between the two sets of fans, thats why the march occured to get people on the underground and not outside looking for trouble. However their was around 10 Millwall fans being held up by coppers who were insisting that they wern't Millwall fans and their were trying to get home to Leicester. Their were definanately Millwall. Great day to be honest a good game and it was good to take the piss out of Millwall.
Guest Posted 15 March 2009 Posted 15 March 2009 I think Nige liked that win. He looks like he's about to chuck some loose change at the scumwall fans
marko Posted 15 March 2009 Posted 15 March 2009 How annoying was that little kid on the front row. My god, i never thought such an insignificant little shite could be so annoying.
Maybes Posted 15 March 2009 Posted 15 March 2009 What a day. at the tourists in the tube station taking photos of the frog march.
Thracian Posted 15 March 2009 Posted 15 March 2009 Other than throwing this vermin-ridden club out of the league, I don't know what can be done about them. Normally I am sympathetic to clubs who are let down outside the ground by so-called supporters hellbent on causing mayhem. But the missiles came from inside the ground and from what I saw yesterday there was nothing done to root these people out and deal with them. And there weren't very many. The club seemed to use a hammer to crack a nut with the City fans but they simply didn't want to know when it came to where the trouble was really at. Even their own steward was hit with a filled plastic bottle, and very early on. Then first Howard and later Oakley were targeted with coins. But still I saw no-one ejected. Nor do I imagine any punishments troublemakers would get if identified and eventually caught would act as the slightest lasting deterrent. No wonder they needed the cat o' nine tails to enforce discipline on the ships of previous centuries if they were crewed by such as the terrace gang seen yesterday in the right side of the ground that serves the Surrey Quays area. But if nothing is done about them it will be the same again when there's another "needle" match. As indeed, according to a steward, it has been on previous occasions recently.
