BedsFox Posted 14 March 2009 Posted 14 March 2009 Tony Warner 6 Didn't inspire too much confidence through the game with punches when crosses could be caught, but a vital exceleltn save near the end Kerrea Gilbert 6 Given a tough time but stuck to it manfully Joe Mattock 7 Far better than on Wednesday, looked motivated and got down his flank well Michael Morrison 6 Far from a commanding performance, whereas... Jack Hobbs 8 was an absolute beast. Rock of a performance Tom Cleverley 7 Solid stuff, coming on nicely Lloyd Dyer 6 Mostly disappointing, tried hard but still not on any sort of form Matt Oakley 7 A good away performance. Excellent temperament throughout when faced with objects on the pitch at his corners Andy King 8 Excellent performance, protected back four well and almost created with Oakley the second goal for Fryatt Matty Fryatt 7 Didn't quite come off for him today, but did his job for the team cause. Should have scored in the second half Steve Howard 8 Had a great battle with Whitbread, took his goal well, a top performance Barry Hayles 8 Our legendary substitute left winger today, his experience mattered in the last 15 minutes

Nick Posted 14 March 2009 Posted 14 March 2009 You have to be the singlemost biggest thick cunt on Foxestalk. I think Daggers that that is offensive to DB11.

bluebeau Posted 14 March 2009 Posted 14 March 2009 You have to be the singlemost biggest thick cunt on Foxestalk. Oakley was the heartbeat...which makes King the vena cava in my rather obtuse analogy.
Bert Posted 14 March 2009 Posted 14 March 2009 Warner 6 - A clean sheet, and a fairly solid performance on his debut. Gilbert 7 - Got well stuck in, and supported the attack well. Mattock 6 - Better performance than Wednesday, solid in the air today, needs to work on end product. Morrison 6 - Nearly cost us the points toward the end of the game, but played his part in a clean sheet. Hobbs 8 - Fuckin' awesome, won everything, and was so calm and composed on the ball. Cleverley 7 - Put a good shift in, and always looked dangerous when running with the ball. Dyer 5 - Just couldn't get into the game at all. King 6 - Played well considering he was doubtful for the game. Timely interceptions and created a few chances. Oakley 8 - Brilliant. Got really well stuck in and did a lot of dirty work. Better set pieces today as well. Fryatt 7 - Got into some excellent positions today and looked very tricky, worked his socks off, but he was the moaner out of the front two today. Howard 7 - Excellent finish, and won a lot today. Has a fantastic touch and great awareness. Hayles 6 - Played well when he came on, gave us a little bit of a different option as well. Kisnorbo - Not on long enough, but won every single challenge and I'd love to see him start on Saturday. Ref, Linesman one, Linesman two -10 - Massive tuwaaats.
Daggers Posted 14 March 2009 Posted 14 March 2009 Dyer - 7 In my defense - I was almost as drunk as Maybes.
eastendfox Posted 14 March 2009 Posted 14 March 2009 First and foremost a stunning team performance - the boys played together as a unit and put in the best performance for weeks, against a physical (and unpleasant) home side. In view of that, giving anyone less than a 6 would be wrong. Warner 7 - Hesitant at times but one important save and a couple of great takes from corners Gilbert 7 - Didn't give much away and supported attack well at times Hobbs 9 - Hardly put a foot wrong all game Morrison 7 - A couple of errors, one in the second half could have cost a goal, but also some vital challenges Mattock 6 - Up against their best player, struggled in the first half, got better in the second Cleverley 8 - Best I've seen from him, the usual good runs forward, and worked well in defence. But should have scored Oakley 8 - Great performance, box to box midfield play and dangerous set plays King 7 - Struggled and looked half fit first half, again grew as the game Dyer 6 - Poor first half, looked lively after the break and helped set up the chance which should have doubled the lead Howard 7 - Great goal, always a handful, faded in the second half Fryatt 7 - Good workrate but didn't quite get the rub of the green Subs: Hayles 7 - Bizarre. Beat 3 players running down the line then passed straight to a home player. But got stuck in and helped preserve the lead. Kisnorbo 8 - Great to have him back and looked like the defensive rock of last season again Pearson 8 - Before the game we feared a defensive line-up, instead we had two attacking wide men and it worked
Daggers Posted 14 March 2009 Posted 14 March 2009 Kisnorbo 8 - Great to have him back and looked like the defensive rock of last season again Pissed as I may have been - how was he ever on long enough to have scored points? Let alone EIGHT?

martyn Posted 14 March 2009 Posted 14 March 2009 Warner 6.5, couple of near rickets by allowing shots to bounce off him, but was generally solid Gilbert 7, never troubled defensively and was keen to get forward and support further up the park. Decent. Hobbs 8.5 Fantastic pure defensive performance. Never lost a header and was solid as a rock. Lots of hoofs but that wont detract from all the good stuff Morrison 6.5. Took a while to get to grips with Alexander but until his 2nd half slip which could have cost us, was otherwise solid Mattock 6 Henry ripped him a new one first half but as with the rest of the side, improved 2nd period and it was a more even battle with Millwall's only threat. Cleverley 7.5 Boundless energy, intelligent use of the ball and unlucky not to score. Good performance Oakley 7 Gave the ball away a few times but was involved in many of our better moves without being outstanding King 7.5. Between 50-75 minutes King was the best player on the park by a country mile with classy interceptions, use of the ball and reading of the game. Rest of the time he flitted in and out. Dyer 5.5 Woeful first 25, got a bit more involved afterwards but is a shadow from the early season Dyer Howard 7.5 Lovely strike for the goal, won his fair share of headers and did what Howard generaly does best Fryatt 6.5 Never had a sniff of goal really, but close control was excellent to retain possession and looked sharp Hayles 6 Loved his series of turns near the corner flag before winning a corner Kisnorbo 6 Cleared everything as per his instructions
The punisher Posted 14 March 2009 Posted 14 March 2009 Pissed as I may have been - how was he ever on long enough to have scored points? Let alone EIGHT? The team today played excellent, it was hard to believe that most of them players turned up at Tranmere on Wednesday. I think today though, apart from the team putting in an excellent performance, Matty Fryat proved he is not good enough to play against top teams. He should have scored once, he should have been in better positions than he was most the time, he looked very slow and un interested in scoring. The team has certainly improved since dropping Berner. It's a pity though that we didn't sign another striker in January because Barry Hayles is awful. Cleverly got my man of the match today, he worked hard all over the pitch, always got forward and seemed the only player trying to score another goal come the last 30 minutes. Hobbs had an excellent game apart from his clearances. He needs to look up a lot more. Up the City!!!
Thracian Posted 15 March 2009 Posted 15 March 2009 Tony Warner 7 (I thought him indecisive at first but in the event he caught some important crosses, made two or three important punches, a couple of decent saves and ended with a clean sheet which isn't easy with new team mates). Kerrea Gilbert 6.5 (Average game but had a great chance to shoot and score in the opening minutes but elected to cross and only won a corner. Tried hard to support though.). Joe Mattock 5.75 (Disappointing despite the clean sheet. Quite often allowed his man to get a cross in and never loooked convincing in what he was trying to do). Michael Morrison 7 (One apparently vital block - later irrelevent because of offside, solid generally and let Abraham know he wasn't going to be pushed around). Jack Hobbs 7 (Mostly like a rock defensively but they did look dangerous from corners and his distribution remained mostly height and distance based). Tom Cleverley 8 (Action man throughout. Made himself available, kept attacks going, contested everything and never allowed opponents a moment's peace. Given a great chance courtesy of Howard and King which the home goalkeeper did well to tip over). Lloyd Dyer 5 (Damp squib. Might have won a penalty when he was sandwiched in the box but otherwise failed to maintain sufficient width at times and didn't ever threaten to go past his man). Matt Oakley 7.25 (Produced good and bad but gave a tireless display nevertheless). Andy King 7.5 (Forged two excellent chances, first for Cleverley whose shot was tipped over and then for Fryatt whose effort was diverted onto a post. Both might well have been goals. Had an excellent near post header from a corner early on and generally passed well, got forward for shots - mostly difficult ones - and contributed defensively in regaining possession and maintaining our shape. So glad he was back after his injury at Tranmere). Matty Fryatt 5.5 (Had one excellent chance turned onto a post but was generally well marshalled and not notably effecftive). Steve Howard 8.25 (Winning goal and what an excellent shot - right where it couldn't be saved. Might have scored with an early chance too. Otherwise won possession almost at will and played a part in so many of our attacks during the first hour). Subs: Barry Hayles 5.5 (Stalled for time quite effectively in the time he was on, which seemed to be what was reequired, but he really lacked any explosive power or pace). Patrick Kisnorbo 6.5 (Added another layer to our defensive wall which between them restricted Millwall to very few chances)
