CosbehFox Posted 17 March 2009 Posted 17 March 2009 I'm not sure but I thought read pre-season no team, no 'big' team at least have gone down and straight back up automatically/as champions for this league. Interesting, I just looked on statto.com. Even Villa and Wolves didn't manage it way back. Sunderland did 87/89. Went up as Champions in the Old Div 3.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 17 March 2009 Posted 17 March 2009 I think it'll go as far as the Southend game for promotion and S****horpe or Crewe for the title itself. Either Leeds or Southend would be brilliant.
RAFRUDY Posted 17 March 2009 Posted 17 March 2009 I hope we clinch the title sooner...my ticker cant take much more!
Corky Posted 17 March 2009 Posted 17 March 2009 I wanted it to be Peterborough. Why? It's just another match
StanSP Posted 17 March 2009 Posted 17 March 2009 This is my last post of the day, so I'm gonna be really awkward. Who cares when we get promotion?? Sooner the better really!! More general than awkward. Ah well, goodnight lads/ladies
MC Prussian Posted 17 March 2009 Posted 17 March 2009 I wanted it to be Peterborough. Hereford mathematically, then Leeds as the icing on the cake to top that.
leftsideoverhere Posted 18 March 2009 Posted 18 March 2009 It sounds sad, but after every bout of games im loving working out which teams can still mathmatically catch us and then seeing the list get smaller...After tonights games only 2nd place to 8th place and bristol rovers(if they win all games/we lose all ours) can catch us Yeah, I've been doing a bit of that, too... LCFC 81pts Pboro 72pts + a possible 24 from 8 games: 96 MK 67 + 30 97 Millwall 67 + 27 94 Leeds 62 + 27 89 Scunny 61 + 27 88 Tranny 59 + 24 83 Oldham 58 + 27 85 Stockport 56 + 24 80 X Southend 55 + 24 79 X Colchester 53 + 27 80 X Brizzle 51 + 30 81 So, one more win puts Bristol Rovers and Tranmere out of the chase. Two wins (or just one if Oldham fail to beat Tranmere this Saturday) will also see the back of Oldham. Three wins will guarantee a play-off place at least. By then, MK Dons will have had to play Leeds (28.3.09) and MK Dons play Peterborough the day we play Leeds. So at least one of them will have to drop two points, at least, meaning that if (and it's a big if) we've won all five games to that point (or the other teams have all dropped points), we will be assured promotion that evening. Because MK and Peterborough are so close in points, one more win after that would give us the title. I think.
turkish14 Posted 18 March 2009 Posted 18 March 2009 Yeah, I've been doing a bit of that, too...LCFC 81pts Pboro 72pts + a possible 24 from 8 games: 96 MK 67 + 30 97 Millwall 67 + 27 94 Leeds 62 + 27 89 Scunny 61 + 27 88 Tranny 59 + 24 83 Oldham 58 + 27 85 Stockport 56 + 24 80 X Southend 55 + 24 79 X Colchester 53 + 27 80 X Brizzle 51 + 30 81 So, one more win puts Bristol Rovers and Tranmere out of the chase. Because MK and Peterborough are so close in points, one more win after that would give us the title. I thidy mentionednk. Good work i know the chance of anyone catching us is pretty slim, but as already mentioned seeing that list of teams get smaller is rewarding for the amount of points we have.
Lillehamring Posted 18 March 2009 Posted 18 March 2009 Yeah, I've been doing a bit of that, too...LCFC 81pts Pboro 72pts + a possible 24 from 8 games: 96 MK 67 + 30 97 Millwall 67 + 27 94 Leeds 62 + 27 89 Scunny 61 + 27 88 Tranny 59 + 24 83 Oldham 58 + 27 85 Stockport 56 + 24 80 X Southend 55 + 24 79 X Colchester 53 + 27 80 X Brizzle 51 + 30 81 So, one more win puts Bristol Rovers and Tranmere out of the chase. Because MK and Peterborough are so close in points, one more win after that would give us the title. I think. I really can't see 3 teams getting 90 points! 9 points and we're there. well, if left side has done his maths - only three teams can get 90 even if they WIN all but a couple of games - so, three wins should do it..... also, our GD should be adequate for a points tie success.....
leftsideoverhere Posted 18 March 2009 Posted 18 March 2009 after last night, tranny and brizzle failed to win, which means they can no longer get more than 81...millwall, no change...but dons can now only get 94.... also, our GD should be adequate for a points tie success..... No, this is based on an updated table after last night's games.
Rich_Sheffield Posted 18 March 2009 Posted 18 March 2009 The amount of police present that day, all itching to arrest someone, means it's never going to happen. the police will be concerned with segregation of Leicester\ Leeds fans not Leicester running on the pitch. I'd love to rub it in Leeds faces. dirty Leeds Bastards If we do get promoted at Leeds i'm gonna wrap some blue and white flowers in my Leicester Scarf and get them delivered to my mates work(who is a leeds fan). He should be well pissed off.
Lillehamring Posted 18 March 2009 Posted 18 March 2009 No, this is based on an updated table after last night's games. christ, and within the 30 seconds it took me to edit it out
leftsideoverhere Posted 18 March 2009 Posted 18 March 2009 christ, and within the 30 seconds it took me to edit it out You need to be quicker than that!
Corky Posted 18 March 2009 Posted 18 March 2009 Win all of our home matches, and one away, and we should be there, and even then the Dons have to win every match.
Tilley Posted 18 March 2009 Posted 18 March 2009 Promotion at Southend would be perfect thanks.Do it in front of the fans who have been all over. Not sat in the Kop moaning + 10,000 who would magically wake up for this one aswell. ^^
orod Posted 18 March 2009 Posted 18 March 2009 Or not, really. Not worth it in all honesty. I would fu*king love a pitch invasion. I remember years back seeing all the pompy fans invading the pitch when they won the championship and thinking i can wait to do that when we get promotion. Think we played Norwich on the final day of the season and got promoted but the police presence was massive and they kept announcing over the tannoy not to invade the pitch!

Would be just the same this time round if we get the chance. Don't think our fans are rebelious enough to ignore the tw at on the PA either. It would be quality.

Alf Bentley Posted 20 March 2009 Posted 20 March 2009 Saddo's corner here, but... By my calculation, tomorrow if City beat Colchester and Oldham fail to beat Tranmere then a place in the play-offs is mathematically certain.....though ending up in the play-offs would be, er, rather a disappointment, of course...
turkish14 Posted 20 March 2009 Posted 20 March 2009 No offence but if you look at the topic titled mathmatical on the next page members have already mentioned this
Alf Bentley Posted 20 March 2009 Posted 20 March 2009 No offence but if you look at the topic titled mathmatical on the next page members have already mentioned this No offence, but when I look at that topic, all I see is one mathematical genius suggesting we need 3 more wins to reach the play-offs and some other mathematical genius (with an Istanbul connection) applauding that analysis... LCFC win tomorrow + Oldham dropping points = guaranteed play-offs
Daggers Posted 20 March 2009 Posted 20 March 2009 Mathematically speaking: Johnny Rep and two birds in a hotel = a night of lust.
Corky Posted 20 March 2009 Posted 20 March 2009 Are we safe from relegation yet? That's all that matters, the main aim at the start of the season.
Asha Posted 20 March 2009 Posted 20 March 2009 I appreciate what you're saying Alf B, and I agree that with every game that we get closer to promotion it's exciting to see what position we're guaranteed.
