BlabyFox Posted 14 April 2009 Posted 14 April 2009 I always like it when our local rivals - like forest and derby - lose so i think it's brilliant that they both are near the championship relegation zone, but a few fans have told me that they hope they stay up so we can play them next season for a atmospheric game that we can look forward to. What do you think?
Ultra Posted 14 April 2009 Posted 14 April 2009 Let them both stay up. We've not exactly thrived while they've been in different divisions.
Guest Posted 14 April 2009 Posted 14 April 2009 Both to stay up. It'd be good to have a few local derbies next season
Alexikokopops Posted 14 April 2009 Posted 14 April 2009 As much as I'd enjoy them getting relegated I'd prefer to have us, Derby, Forest and Cov all in the same division again. We haven't had that for a while.
Thracian Posted 14 April 2009 Posted 14 April 2009 From an atmosphere point of view they are potentially good fixtures but when it comes to promotion prospects I always reckon the fewer local derbies the better.
Alexikokopops Posted 14 April 2009 Posted 14 April 2009 From an atmosphere point of view they are potentially good fixtures but when it comes to promotion prospects I always reckon the fewer local derbies the better. In 2002/03 when we were promoted to the Premiership Derby, Cov and Forest were all in the same league. Last season when we were relegated there was only Cov. Therefore I deduce that with all of tghem in the same league we're DEFINITELY going to get promoted.
C-man Posted 14 April 2009 Posted 14 April 2009 Both stay up. I cant be arsed with going to places like Norwich and Southampton so definitely stay up. Cov on the other hand can fook off.
Daggers Posted 14 April 2009 Posted 14 April 2009 I don't really care about promotion to the Premiership so whether it effects us or not is irrelevant to me. I want both of them to stay up so we can have some thrilling derbies again.
Koke Posted 14 April 2009 Posted 14 April 2009 I wish Birmingham could stay down as well, and with WBA coming down and with Posh coming up with us that is 6 local games. It would have been 7 if Wolves bottled it again, but it looks like they won't.
Ultra Posted 14 April 2009 Posted 14 April 2009 Birmingham don't deserve to go up. Their crowds this season have been shockingly poor. Yesterday, for example, they got less than 20000. I hope Cardiff catch them for 2nd place and then they fcuk up in the playoffs.
The Doctor Posted 14 April 2009 Posted 14 April 2009 part of me wants them both to stay up for the chance to play them and send them to league 1 next season but part of me wants forest to go down, i think derby are safe tho. But if they stay up the amount of local games will be immense: forest derby cov peterboro Dons (they will probably go up through the play-offs) WBA Brum( they'll mess it up) Wolves (they'll mess it up - they still need one win for promotion so they will choke at the wrong moment. hopefully so we can all critisize stearman) then add in to these games against newcastle, middlesboro and palace (chance to abuse warnock) there are a lot of good looking games there.
Guest Chocolate Teapot Posted 14 April 2009 Posted 14 April 2009 I don't actually mind either nearly as much as Coventry and I enjoy the derbies, so I hope they both stay up and we beat them both next season!
Fosse Boy Posted 14 April 2009 Posted 14 April 2009 Both to stay up. Local derbies are awesome Cov can go hang. Not even remotely interested in visiting their "ground".

I'd be delighted to see some passionate fans taking their place in the top tier for the first time in many years.

Guest Bilo Posted 14 April 2009 Posted 14 April 2009 Cardiff fans are right proper ******! ****** they may be but at least they're passionate about their club, unlike those of Wigan who struggle to fill their 24,000 capacity stadium and Birmingham, who as Ultra rightly says can barely muster 20,000 in the middle of a promotion push. Say what you like about Cardiff fans (and many of us do), they'll create an atmosphere wherever they go, something that is conspicuous by its absence in many Premiership grounds these days.
Alf Bentley Posted 14 April 2009 Posted 14 April 2009 Both stay up this season, then both go down next season (together with Palace)...preferably sent down on the last day of the season...a 6-0 City win at Shame Park on the last day sending both down by 1 goal on goal difference...
Webbo Posted 14 April 2009 Posted 14 April 2009 I would think the club would want Forest and Derby to stay up for the big gates those derbies would create.
Filbert_Ross Posted 14 April 2009 Posted 14 April 2009 not bothered about playing them, I would rather see them go down and struggle.
Finnegan Posted 14 April 2009 Posted 14 April 2009 Don't care about Derby but I'd like to see Forest go down and stay down. I don't quite feel they've learned their lesson yet, they can come back next year or the year after perhaps. Plus, if they go down then Earnie'll be up for sale.
jimmy7587 Posted 14 April 2009 Posted 14 April 2009 I miss the derby games. Hope they stay up, and have trips to Peterborough and Milton Keynes. oooh talking of trips! St James' Park would be nice!

iancognito Posted 14 April 2009 Posted 14 April 2009 but I'd like to see Forest go down and stay down.I don't quite feel they've learned their lesson yet, they can come back next year or the year after perhaps. This. They may not have gone as far as naming their forum after it but the Champions Of Europe mentality is so far out of touch with reality it's untrue. Then again, it's a city that holds Robin Hood in high esteem after he spent his life robbing it's citizens and feeding the poor of Doncaster with the proceeds , so we shouldn't be surprised. Games against Derby and Cov are good fun, it's good to point at the sunshine coach and laugh without fear of reprisal On another note, after their gloating at the end of last season, it's a shame we won't have Stoke to look forward to, barring a miracle. Sweet revenge would have been nice.
