J.Lisemore Posted 6 May 2009 Posted 6 May 2009 Haha shocking fans. their average attendance in the Championship was something like 19,000. Whereas we were getting around 20-21,000 in League One.
Darkzzz_ Posted 6 May 2009 Posted 6 May 2009 Where's my Chris Powell cock cast? Sent first class today. Marsha, Marsha, Marsha
flanimal Posted 6 May 2009 Posted 6 May 2009 Birmingham are the smallest club in the Midlands, just above Walsall and Notts County. Hinckley Town are bigger than them.
lildave3 Posted 6 May 2009 Posted 6 May 2009 Haha shocking fans. their average attendance in the Championship was something like 19,000. Whereas we were getting around 20-21,000 in League One. We don't have one of the biggest clubs in the country as our neighbours, and also don't charge £30 a ticket.
purpleronnie Posted 6 May 2009 Posted 6 May 2009 Birmingham chairman David Gold is clearly feeling a little giddy and deluded following his side's promotion to the Premier League. The ageing tycoon, who made his fortune through selling porno mags and sex toys, expressed his hope that the blues would become "established" in the top flight, and even launch a potential challenge for Europe. However, Gold struck a surprisingly self-righteous tone when discussing the more realistic prospect of his side continuing to yo-yo between the divisions. He said, "We won't be a Leeds, Southampton, Leicester etc. We won't bankrupt the club". Who the hell is he, with his background, to look down on us or even on Leeds? Perhaps, instead of indulging in needless digs, Gold should be asking himself why crowds at St Andrews this season have been lower than those witnessing League 1 football at either Elland Road or the Way. Could it be because during his time in charge, the brummies have never looked like landing a major trophy, or even finishing in the Premier League top 10? The only reason he is still in football is because his plan to flog the club to a Hong Kong-based buyer failed. When his team, as they will, return to their natural home in the lower leagues, I won't exactly be consumed with grief. The blues have always languished in Villa's shadow, and while the porn barons continue in charge, they will stay that way. Why is he having a go????
Guest Posted 6 May 2009 Posted 6 May 2009 I can't see why people are getting worked up by this. There's been a lot worse said about our club before.
Babylon Posted 6 May 2009 Posted 6 May 2009 Did we??Just called the administrators in didnt we?? Depends on your personal definition of bust. Could we meet our financial obligations? No Did the club go into administration? Yes Was the club bought by someone? Yes Did millions get wiped off the books by doing so? Yes To all intents and purposes we were bust, broke, brassic.

Yes Was the club bought by someone? Yes Did millions get wiped off the books by doing so? Yes To all intents and purposes we were bust, broke, brassic. I know all of this.. As a self employed sparky I worked on the stadium and was left out of pocket by the administration. But not ant any point has LCFC been 'bankrupt' which is the word Mr Dildo used.
Babylon Posted 6 May 2009 Posted 6 May 2009 But not ant any point has LCFC been 'bankrupt' which is the word Mr Dildo used. I think you are splitting hairs. I can do the same by suggesting the noun bankrupt can also be used in the sense of "someone who is totally lacking in a specified resource". So quite rightly he can suggest the club was bankrupt, because we were lacking the most significant resource if all... money. If you are talking about bankrupt in law, then yes of course you are correct, there is nothing to suggest he was though.

Babylon Posted 6 May 2009 Posted 6 May 2009 my bad Some online dictionaries have it down as noun and adjective?! Feck I don't know... been about 18 years since I did it in English ha
iancognito Posted 6 May 2009 Posted 6 May 2009 Gold and Sullivan are right up there with the likes of Simon Jordan and Theo Fajitas. Self-made fckwits with some sort of notion that they are the be-all and end-all of their club. And what is it with Gold's weird beard?!? He reminds me the chancellor bloke from Star Trek EDIT: Having said all that, Brady would still get it and Paul Pescolido (copyright David Pleat) could watch.
Ultra Posted 6 May 2009 Author Posted 6 May 2009 Why is he having a go???? What happened to us was SEVEN YEARS ago, under a previous board. Many other clubs, before and since, have had financial issues. Why did he feel the need to single us and others out? Could it be that, despite his club's recent promotion, he atill has something of an inferiority complex towards certain clubs? In any case, given his line of business, he's not exactly in a position to take the moral high ground.
carterfox90 Posted 7 May 2009 Posted 7 May 2009 gold = TWAT concentrate on saving your money for when you come straight back down next year as you always do !!
Matt Posted 7 May 2009 Posted 7 May 2009 Haha shocking fans. their average attendance in the Championship was something like 19,000. Whereas we were getting around 20-21,000 in League One. I read somewhere we have had the biggest average attendance outside the Premiership this season. I'm not sure this right but i'll keep quoting the quote!

Finnegan Posted 7 May 2009 Posted 7 May 2009 I would love to bash his brain in with a Chris Powell penis plaster cast. Brilliance. A few pages late but this had to be honoured.
Alexikokopops Posted 7 May 2009 Posted 7 May 2009 What happened to us was SEVEN YEARS ago, under a previous board. Because he was refering to former Premiership clubs who have taken a tumble. That was his whole point. How many former Premiership clubs are there who have gone down to at least League 1 and gone into administration? I can't think of many beyond Southampton, Leeds and us who, surprise surprise, he chose to mention. Possibly Bradford too. I don't know where he's "taking the moral high ground" comes from either He's just saying "we don't want to end up going down the shitter", which is a fair enough thing to say. I wouldn't describe that as "righteous". He's stating something he's not going to do, and then giving examples of teams its happened to. It's like me saying at the beginning of the season "I don't want us to stay in League 1 for more than a season, like Forest did, or Leeds have done". Doesn't mean I don't think he's a cock (he is), but in this case he was just stating the facts
foxoffderby Posted 7 May 2009 Posted 7 May 2009 I agree with dr singh and kareem i dont think he was having a go directly (even though he is a tw at). If you read between the lines they've been trying to sell brum for at least 2 seasons without any luck. What it means is that they wont be putting any of their own money into their club. Straight back down probably to do a "derby".
