Joe. Posted 14 May 2009 Posted 14 May 2009 Maybe he is worth £1.9m, we just don't know yet. He could turn out to be brilliant for us in the long run and we could make a very healthy profit on him should he step up to the mark in the Championship. No doubt Swindon will be asking for a large sell-on clause too, makes very good business sense for a player they rate so highly.
flanimal Posted 14 May 2009 Posted 14 May 2009 Reading got a 40% sell on clause so I think Swindon are trying to milk every penny out of us. 40% ? No wonder they want £2m, it would mean Swindon would only get £1.2m - which is a more realistic value for him.
Bryn Posted 14 May 2009 Posted 14 May 2009 Fact of the matter is, you won't get a good striker for less than £1.5m. You just don't, it doesn't happen. He represents probably our most realistic chance of a 20 goal a season striker and we've took it. He looks excellent and even if it don't work out I still wouldn't criticise the signing.

Unless you dip into the foreign market. There is a Simon Cox out there in eastern Europe who would cost us £500k max. I don't mind Cox, I think he's a damn fine player. But the price tag will be on his shoulder and it will always be brought up in debates if he goes through a bad patch or if he doesn't score more than 10 goals for us etc etc.
flanimal Posted 14 May 2009 Posted 14 May 2009 £1.9m for a striker isn't that much. It's hardly like Akinbiyi.

It's hardly like Akinbiyi. For a championship club it is quite alot
leicesterisme Posted 14 May 2009 Posted 14 May 2009 Haha it says now on wiki he's signed for man utd for 5 million pound and also cheslea were believed to have had a bid rejected but the Retard who's done it forgot to change the title from leicester!
Tilley Posted 14 May 2009 Posted 14 May 2009 So, I'm the only member of this forum still in the same underwear as I was before I read this?

flanimal Posted 14 May 2009 Posted 14 May 2009 If it's Knowitall or websites, I trust Knowitall. A website a few days back said N'Guessan had definitely signed for Sheffield United. I don't trust the majority of websites, just trying to stir things up. If Cox and N'Guessan have been to the training ground, it suggests they are at least quite keen.
daveyboy Posted 14 May 2009 Posted 14 May 2009 TBH you can't even trust the OS though, They wrote false stuff about the shirt and a few years ago they made a fuk up (About a player or signing - i'm almost certain) forgot who it was about though...Obviously you can trust it more that Wiki though. Steve Lovell?
Basingstoke Fox Posted 14 May 2009 Posted 14 May 2009 Who cares if Cox costs 2million? Its Milans money and if he is chosing to spend it to improve the team then I am grateful! Also we are looking as if we will have some more players during pre season, I think Milan would probably spend a fair bit for whoever else we sign too. It is better to spend £2m on Cox if he scored 20+ goals next season than nothing on some rubbish player. He is backing up Nigel Peason and thats the main thing because: "In Nige we Trust!!"
flanimal Posted 14 May 2009 Posted 14 May 2009 I think Cox is probably worth £2m. Think he has proper potential. When you think that Taylor spent £5m on Akinbiyi, Cox seems like a bargain at £2m. If he gets 15 goals next season it'd be good business. Let's hope he does actually sign!

But obviously still some unknowns as to whether he can cut it in the Championship.

The kind of goals he scores are goals any goalkeeper would struggle to save. He doesn't score many shabby League 1 style goals, doesn't matter what level you are, if you are a top finisher, that works on all divisions. He's also quick. He looks quality, I believe he can step up.
Lillehamring Posted 14 May 2009 Posted 14 May 2009 As babylon mentioned earlier in the thread, I hope KIA is not regretting this leak as I see a certain webpage (vitalfootball) is already confirming the transfer by an internal source. Really hope this doesn't jeoperdise anything. pretty sure the club know of KIA's existence... so i wouldn't worry too much.
flanimal Posted 14 May 2009 Posted 14 May 2009 Knowitall, The Batman of Leicester City Football Clubb!
DanTheFox07 Posted 14 May 2009 Posted 14 May 2009 obviously people counting there chickens too early.

Did you see that we lost 14 million last year, that was us Leicester City not MM. MM may stump up the 2 million but it will be a loan to us, it will all have to be paid back sooner or later.
Super Arj Posted 14 May 2009 Posted 14 May 2009 strikers who have done well in league 1 the season before tend to do a good job in the championship the season after.. especially with the strikers we have... (fryatt, howard and hopefully cox) i think we'll have a very effective strike force next season if we get him...

richardsfoxes Posted 14 May 2009 Posted 14 May 2009 I just hope that this is done quickly, if he comes to us or not.
