Hay Fever

can you grow out of it?

There are people who specialise in this area.

It is not an easy process but I believe it is possible.

This may require taking a desensitising substance for the rest of your life, though.

"Why are you crying?!...have you got hayfever or something?..."

I'm sensitive to a woman's feelings, me.

Everytime a woman is crying, the correct response is...

Awwww, I love it when I make you cry those happy tears.

Meh.

I don't smell hayfever yet.

Yes.

I do have a cold.

Question is: What's more bearable?

Cold vs. Hayfever.

Ladies and Gentlemen, please place your bets.

The Melbourne Times did a survey many years ago getting its readers to try different solutions to hayfever. The top solution was a slice of fresh pineapple a day. Fact!

Piriton doesn't work. The farmers have put bloody rape seed in all the fields i walk past on my way to College, so now i have runny nose and dry eyes everday. Rape seed is the worst for setting off hayfever. i bloody hate it so much. i usually take that hayrite stuff but it doesnt seem to do much. I dont think you can get away from hayfever really, its just something you have to put up with.

I used to get quite bad asthma and hay fever as a kid.

I spent practically every minute of the summer playing football on the playing fields which was murder after they cut the grass.

But as I grew older I think my immune system got stronger plus I started lifting weights and got physically stronger and now I don't get it.

*Steps outside and takes a long deep satisfying breath*

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh the love of clean sinuses and zero hayfever.

I was waiting for someone to pop up acting all smug and self righteous.

They also do Piriton and Loratadine for the same price

Thanks but the only thing that nearly works is Benadryl (acrivastine), and that's not much cheaper. Trust me to have to have the most expensive.

I sneezed 13 times in a row when I went to fix my bike yesterday.

If you didnt fix your bike you wouldnt have sneezed.

Easy really!

Actually suffer from it too and i got asthma as well which makes it doubly worserest.

Im abit of a sickly boy really!

BUT local honey does seem to have helped...or is it just old age???

I also stick some vaseline up my arse.... i mean up my nose to stop the pollen getting up.....only use a bit else i think you can die.

Here---

Hay fever is the common name for a condition called allergic rhinitis, which means an allergy that affects the nose. Most people associate hay fever with spring, when airborne pollens from grasses are at their peak. However, hay fever can occur at any time of the year. This is known as perennial allergic rhinitis, which is usually caused by a reaction to allergens around the home such as dust mites, moulds or animal hair or fur.

Symptoms

Some of the symptoms of hay fever include:

Sneezing

A runny or stuffy nose

Itchy ears, nose and throat

Red, itchy or watery eyes

Headaches.

In some cases, the symptoms of hay fever can be so severe that a person can’t sleep or concentrate, and may feel tired or unwell.

Hay fever is an allergic reaction

Your nose acts as a filter. The tiny hairs and mucus that line the nasal passages trap dust, pollens and other microscopic particles. A person with hay fever is allergic to some of the particles that get trapped in the nose, such as pollen.

An allergic reaction means the immune system treats a harmless substance as if it were dangerous, and launches an ‘attack’. The nasal passages become inflamed and more mucus is produced.

Reducing hay fever symptoms

Suggestions to prevent or limit symptoms of hay fever include:

Check the pollen count forecast on television or in the newspaper. Try to stay indoors if it’s a high count.

Stay indoors as much as possible in spring, on windy days or after thunderstorms.

In your garden, choose plants that are pollinated by birds or insects, rather than plants that release their seeds into the air.

Replace your lawn with bricked or paved areas.

Smear petroleum jelly (like Vaseline) inside your nose to stop the pollen from touching the lining of your nose.

Splash your eyes often with cold water to flush out any pollen.

Reduce your exposure to dust and dust mites, animals and animal hair or fur (dander).
