Fez of Mahrez Posted 27 May 2009 Posted 27 May 2009 **** the law in that respect. We should definitely celebrate the fact he didn't get booked. Grudgingly would say the same if it had been a key Manchester United player too. Players should not be getting sent off or missing finals for things like over-celebrating goals (or taking quick free-kicks for that matter).
lildave3 Posted 27 May 2009 Posted 27 May 2009 Agree with what Fez said, I haven't missed a game this season either and what a joy it has been to watch a team who genuinely want to entertain and play football. I am not saying everyone should like them, but a team that is run by the people and approaches the game in the right way is surely hard to hate? Surely? Great season all round and as Craig just said in one of his texts to me, would be nice to see Everton lift the F.A Cup. Pretty easy for me
Darkzzz_ Posted 27 May 2009 Posted 27 May 2009 Pretty easy for me I really like you as well...Ben... You did have your Madrid shirt on didn't you?

Don't get me wrong, I don't think anyone dislikes or hate the way Barca play or the club itself, because you're right, it really is hard to do so. I think a lot of people don't like it being shoved in their faces all the time about just how fantastic Barca really are, because we know. (This isn't aimed at anyone, but every time an argument about Barcelona comes up, it always comes back to "Yeah, but they play the best entertaining football")

Like i said it would've been a shame if he would've missed it and I'm glad he didn't.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 27 May 2009 Posted 27 May 2009 I don't know about celebrate. Like i said it would've been a shame if he would've missed it and I'm glad he didn't. Just something I feel strongly about, that as fans we shouldn't blindly follow the law in the same way that referees have to for the most part - and should enjoy it when common sense takes hold. Ah well. Either way, glad he played. Always enjoy watching him.

Surely the right way is whatever wins you games. It might be the right way for Barca but that doesn't mean it's the right way for everybody.

Hitesh Posted 27 May 2009 Posted 27 May 2009 Amazing, witnessed the perfect way to let the midfield boss the game and the way they played with the defence and linked with the 3 up front was pure class. Fergie got taught a lesson by a rookie this evening and it was funny to see as he couldn't do anything about it! Barca had absolute control and dominated by playing to their strengths and playing their game, not Utd's! A good final IMO in the way that it proved that the better team won on the night and that it didn't have to be decided through a lucky goal or penalties. Really enjoyed the final and more so because Ronaldo couldn't do nout about it!
Finnegan Posted 27 May 2009 Posted 27 May 2009 It would've been a shame if he had missed it, because he was truly awesome. But this doesn't stop it being wrong. It might be the rules of the game and to that respect I agree that it has to be consistently enforced but I really do think it's an absolutely stupid rule and we should be glad that Iniesta escaped punishment and went on to play a fabulous game today.

Yup. As you'll probably see, most of what you've said in that post I've said in a few other posts.

Just didn't want to think people were making excuses for United really. I felt that Chelsea dug their own grave even though they were hard done to - Man Utd definitely shot themselves in the foot today, no one to blame but their own selves.

I really do. But I think some members on here struggle to pay compliments to them. Which is a shame. If the tables were turned, many people would be raving about United tonight and because I love football, if United had have dominated that game tonight I would have been honest. If you look at many of my posts in the CL thread I have always applauded United. It isn't hard being honest, but the way people in this country swallow the media's shit it is hard not to react. A lot of people can't really form an opinion on their own merit really, I am not saying that about FT I am saying that in general. Take 606 for an example. Some of them actually believe United won the game tonight.
lildave3 Posted 27 May 2009 Posted 27 May 2009 And to top it all off, I lose a pound because Rustu the **** had a one year, 4 game spell with those Spanish bastards to interrupt a perfectly decent time at Fenerbahce.

I felt that Chelsea dug their own grave even though they were hard done to - Man Utd definitely shot themselves in the foot today, no one to blame but their own selves. Wasn't making an excuse - Would be very hard to make excuses tonight, because even the referee had a really good game. I know Fergie felt bad about not selecting Park in the squad for last years final, but I think that was too big a sacrifice when Tevez could've done exactly the same, if not a better job than what Park did tonight. Although Park is quite under-rated, and I have barely an ounce of management knowledge compared to Fergie, I believe his biggest mistake tonight was starting Park instead of Tevez.

Koke Posted 27 May 2009 Posted 27 May 2009 The best team won. Man Utd weren't at the races to be honest. Puyol, who I viewed as a respected pro, was rolling around like a cheating cunt. Iniesta and Xavi controlled the midfield with ease. Ronaldo did what he could tbh, Barca as a team were just the better side on the night. I'm with Bert as well on this as well. I think that what gets on people's tits most of the time is the constant wankfest about Barca. We know Barca are a great team to watch with some great individuals but when it gets shoved in your face all the time it becomes really tedious to a point where you want them to fail.

Although Park is quite under-rated, and I have barely an ounce of management knowledge compared to Fergie, I believe his biggest mistake tonight was starting Park instead of Tevez. Interesting thought. I think personally his biggest mistake was believing that his midfield three were strong enough to cope with Xavi and Iniesta. The reason Chelsea coped so well was because of Essien, Lampard and Ballack. Manchester United can't match that. Having said that, he's got to have confidence that his team are good enough to deal with that without adjusting. The bottom line is that Manchester United are significantly weakened if Ronaldo has no impact. Genuinely can't say the same of Barcelona with any of their front three because the real strength is their midfield.

With the exception of Arsenal, I'll support any British team in Europe, purely because I'm proud of being British, and want the best for Britain.
Alexikokopops Posted 27 May 2009 Posted 27 May 2009 Nope, ITV and Sky.I'm off to Soar Point. Come on United, please. I really, really, REALLY, don't want Barcelona to win. REALLY. A great performance but not a great game. Iniesta is just an unbelieveable human being, if that's what he is, it's hard to tell sometimes. I fooking love him. To bits. Have done for a while now. These past two Champions League games have elevated him to the upper echelon of my love

AjcW Posted 27 May 2009 Posted 27 May 2009 Anyone else in the loaded dog tonight? Was packed, mental utd fans, i loved being one of the very few barca fans in there, great night.
