Finnegan Posted 27 May 2009 Posted 27 May 2009 Don't get me started on iTV. United had 5 minutes max in the first half when they looked vaguely threatening. Barca totally overshadowed them for the rest of the half, yet all that came under analysis by "the boys" was these first few minutes, which included a half arsed effort from Ronaldo from what, 40 yards? That and a free kick that was poorly dealt with by Valdes. I was pretty angry when they drew the ref into it and the fact he "only" refs the Swedish leagues. Why put excuses in the minds of morons when it was actually one of the best and least controversial performances of the footballing year!
Samilktray Posted 27 May 2009 Posted 27 May 2009 You want to check your grapes, mate, they don't look all too edible! But yeah, yeah "it's just my opinion wah wah." It wasn't a classic and I'd probably agree with you that last year's final was better, but the rest of your post? As an obvious wind up? In your own words: "Fail." Im not on a wind up. Just saying what I think, but as usual those who moan about having there opinions moaned at are moaning at someone elses Not bothered anyway, I quite frankly could not give a fuck what someone on the internet says.
The Reverend Posted 27 May 2009 Posted 27 May 2009 People just can't give praise can they.It is a great shame. I dont think its that. I would of liked to have seen it stay 0-0 for longer. Utd bossed it for the first 10, had several shots on target, and Barca couldnt touch the ball. When they did, they went up the other end and (after terrible defending and goalkeeping), scored with their first attempt. It was always gping to be an uphill struggle after that, the way Barca keep the ball makes it difficult for anyone, and frustrating as when you're chasing the game. It's a game of if's and buts...what would of happened if Pique wouldnt of made that brilliant challenge to stop Park scoring in the first 10 minutes? And what would of happened if Carrick would of nobbled Xavi (or Iniesta, cant remember which) in the build up to the first goal? On the day Barca were deserved winners, but they were lucky with the first goal and I think it was always going to be a case of whoever scores first wins. Fair play to them, they got the luck and eventually battered Utd really.
Darkzzz_ Posted 27 May 2009 Posted 27 May 2009 Mate, people aren't taking anything away from Barca at all. But if you think that that was a great game of football, and that that was Messi at his best, I think you know you're mistaken.I've said they deserved to win tonight but, as a spectacle, and as a contest, I thought the UEFA Cup edged what I've just seen. You know I'm not a Prem bumboy and like other leagues, and that all I wanted was to see a good game, can't understand this comment at all. Mate, I think your mistaken. This wasn't aimed at you. Read the muppets at 606. It wasn't the best of games, I just think Barcelona deserve a lot of praise for their style. Missing players and the critics saying how they are only good in a poor league. They battered United and if people can't see that like many people have said, not just me. Then you weren't watching the same game as me. I know your not a premiership bum boy like a few on here, but I think some people need to just swallow their bullshit and admit when non English teams play well. I just don't understand that as football fans, what more do Barca need to do to be good then? United were made just outclassed, plain and simple.

Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 27 May 2009 Posted 27 May 2009 Mate, I think your mistaken. This wasn't aimed at you. Read the muppets at 606. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh.
Stuliasz Posted 27 May 2009 Posted 27 May 2009 A great performance but not a great game. Iniesta is just an unbelieveable human being, if that's what he is, it's hard to tell sometimes.
MC Prussian Posted 27 May 2009 Posted 27 May 2009 More or less a mediocre game overall, with the clear highlights on Barca's side. Manchester never looked like they could be arsed going forward, they were probably already thinking about their holidays before the initial kick-off. This marks the end of a wonderful CL campaign for Barcelona and I can only admire their dedication, passion, their love for football and group spirit. As already stated before by a few others, this win also crowns a great football season in general. The large majority of footballing decisions with title wins, promotions, relegations has been nothing but pleasant. First Burnley, now Barcelona.

Oh you're entitled to your opinion. Just when it comes out as stupid and as sour as it just did then be prepared for people to mock it.
purpleronnie Posted 27 May 2009 Posted 27 May 2009 I agree with the post that united seemed overawed, they seemed shocked at how barca were playing and almost resigned to defeat. As for the La Liga v Premiership debate, the top 4 Prem is the strongest in europe thats been proven but the league as a whole for me la liga wins quite easily, and Barca showed that they have the best team in europe. I just think those on tv who bang on about the prem are paid to do so, and most people watching seem to believe it, and those who do watch little football outside the premiership. How man utd can be classed as most entertaining team in europe is beyond me. They are great to watch no doubt but there are more entertaining teams. As a final it depends on what you look for, I always like watching free flowing passing football, enjoy watching players with great touch and barca are the best at that so I enjoyed it, others want action and hat full of goals and for them it might of been dull.
Darkzzz_ Posted 27 May 2009 Posted 27 May 2009 Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh. Your views are always respected this way mate.

Corky Posted 27 May 2009 Posted 27 May 2009 This is what ****s me off about ITV's coverage more than anything. Oh and just David Pleat in general ITV are rather shocking aren't they. Absolutely. I'd rather have seen Jim Beglin commentate than Pleat, with Peter Drury instead of Tyldesley.
Matt Posted 27 May 2009 Posted 27 May 2009 Absolutely. I'd rather have seen Jim Beglin commentate than Pleat, with Peter Drury instead of Tyldesley. I'd rather ITV left sport coverage alone and let a TV Channel or Company that can actually provide decent sports coverage. ITV no matter what sport just can do Sports Coverage, no matter how hard they try it's always pisspoor.
Darkzzz_ Posted 27 May 2009 Posted 27 May 2009 More Guillem Balague on English TV please. No... He is periko!!
Finnegan Posted 27 May 2009 Posted 27 May 2009 No... He is periko!! Yes. But at least he's fucking Spanish.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 27 May 2009 Posted 27 May 2009 First thing SAF needs to think about for the summer: Just how much can he recoup for Berbatov?
Fox You Forest Posted 27 May 2009 Posted 27 May 2009 others want action and hat full of goals and for them it might of been dull. Wish I'd have stayed in and had a few bottles rather than wasting money in the pub. United were shit and Barca deserved it. Iniesta was quality.
Finnegan Posted 27 May 2009 Posted 27 May 2009 First thing SAF needs to think about for the summer:Just how much can he recoup for Berbatov? I loved Berbatov at Tottenham, was one of my favourite players. Utter class, brilliant touch, genius brain and a little bit unpredictable. He really hates having to work hard and not be the big fish in a small pond though doesn't he? Christ.
The Reverend Posted 27 May 2009 Posted 27 May 2009 Barcelona, Lliga de Campions mereixen guanyadors 2009! Hows that for you Nathko?!
Thracian Posted 27 May 2009 Posted 27 May 2009 How United missed Fletcher. His reading of the game, his timing of interceptions, his energy, his ability to fill important spaces and his speedy but accurate distribution of the ball. United were a mess. Not one United player could claim to have had a good game while it would be harsh to single out a Barcelona player as having a bad one. Fundamentally United failed to pass the ball properly. Souness was right that Barcelona proved excellent in pressing the ball but Scholes, in his far too brief appearance, showed that the ball could be manoueved quickly and accurately. But on the night it didn't seem to matter who it was passed too. So many players lacked the control or sharpness to continue the moves. Even Ronaldo had but 10-12 minutes of efforvescence then fizzled out. Other big name players were equally disappointing with Rooney rendered ineffective throughout, Tevez lookiing like a wind-up toy going nowhere while Berbatov stole into places where he might hurt the opposition occasionally but failed to do so. It remains a mystery why Ferguson plays Anderson. I've never seen him dominate a game yet and he never seems to see the pictures. Park huffed, puffed and was more like a school monitor than a key performer. Carrick was reduced to a bit part while real stars performed all around him - for the opposition. And if Evra rates his good self as the best left-back in the world then he's wildly mistaken and should watch videos of himself with a much more critcal eye. Ferguson says his team is young and that he'll learn from tonight's experience. He needs to learn quickly with the likes of Liverpool, Manchester City and, surely Chelsea once again, likely to take heaps of encouragement from tonight's shambles. . Cos United played like a boxful of reject fireworks. Damp squibs one and almost all. I know they've won other things this season but if Ferguson sees triumph in Europe as the Holy Grail he'll not be slaking his thirst from that wondrous goblet ever again if he continues fielding a side with so many flawed players. Tevez can surely wave goodbye to his United career and I'd reckon at least five other players need replacing as contenders for first choice in the side. What most surprised me was that United even lost the psychological battle in so many ways, at so many times and in in so many parts of the field. They'll be rightly shell-shocked.
Darkzzz_ Posted 27 May 2009 Posted 27 May 2009 I just prefer this: The first Spanish side to win the treble!!
